A question about drops

Here's something that's been bugging me - how is drop distribution handled?

Does each mob have a chance to drop an item per person involved in killing it?

If an item is dropped for a person who isn't able to take it {full storage, for example}, is it passed on to another person?

Do the answers to the questions above apply equally to all types of drops - inspirations, salvage, tips, etc.?

Has a chance per mob killed with no modification to the number of people on the team. So if you are playing set for 8 solo, you will get on average 8x the number of drops as you would on a full team.

Not sure about the second question. I am pretty sure it would treat it just like if you were full and solo and just dissapear and no one would get it.

1) From what I have seen in my missions that I dual-box is that one mob can drop something to each character in the mission.

2) If your inventory is full that drop(and you will never know btw) is dust in the wind. Meaning that when your inventory is full you don't receive notification of drops to that character.

3) Yes, it is across all types of drops.

No. Drops are PER MOB. If the random number generator decides a particular enemy is going to drop a recipe, it will only drop ONE. It will be decided randomly who on the team gets it. This is why farmers prefer to be solo - they will get every single drop that occurs (assuming they have room for it).

No. The item is lost.

Recipes and salvage - yes.
Inspirations - I think so, but I'm not sure.
Tips - I have no clue. I don't even consider them 'drops'.

Note that there are some intentional exceptions. For example, if you defeat an AV, EVERYONE gets an SO of their own origin.

Also, i think inspirations are per-person per mob, at least I seem to recall ambrosia working that way.

Note : In case it's not clear, unless it's coded to not have a specific kind of drop, each drop a mob is capable of is checked separately.

So you could (and people have) kill one mob and get :

An inspiration
A piece of Invention Salvage
An Invention Recipe
An Enhancement
A Costume Recipe
A Tip

All at once.

I'm pretty sure that regular inspirations are not per-person from regular mobs although special inspirations might be and I'm pretty sure higher difficulty enemies (GMs, AVs and Monsters) drop on a per-person basis. But for regular enemies I have seen that running solo at x3/x4 I get a LOT more inspirations than running on a full team. It's anecdotal but it really looks like inspirations are not per person from regular drops.

A couple of other things that weren't asked, but since people might read the thread for answers I thought I'd add:

1. You have a better chance of getting a recipe drop from a boss (to the best of my knowledge).

2. Recipe drops from enemies will generally be at the level of the enemy. This is why a level 1 character can get a purpple recipe drop, if they're on a team fighting level 47 or higher enemies.

3. Recipe drops on completion of mission are at the character's actual level. So if I'm playing a level 50 character through the Freakalympics Ouro arc, I'm exemplared to level 29 and I'll probably get a mix of level 29 recipes and some level 50 recipes during the course of the arc.

And Lieutenants have a better chance of drops than minions, though less than bosses.

One thing that people often get wrong is that level plays no part in this, beyond the fact that greys won't drop anything. A -1 minion has the same chance of dropping something as a +5 minion.

It's roughly 3/5/8 - the actual percentages are on the either the recipes or dros page at paragonwiki.com.

Temp Power recipes are a seperate pool from IO and costume recipes, so add that to the list.

If you're fighting Rikti, there's a chance for Vanguard Merits.

And if you're fighting Trick or Treat spawns or Snow Beasts, there's a chance for Costume Salvage or Candy Canes.

Are they? I heard someone say they got merged into costumes.

*shrug* It was a quick list anyway

You may be right. I thought I had had both drop from a single defeat, but I could be mistaken.

Yeah, www.paragonwiki.com/wiki/quinfecta

Tips are blatantly their own drop pool - even dropping from no-xp grays? Yeah, it could drop with all the other stuff.
