Quote:1) Go to Paragonwiki.comAs an aside, can anyone remember WHEN that double prestige grant thing happened?
2) Search for prestige grant
3) Profit
Paragonwiki says:
"On 12-10-2007 there was a one-time grant of 20,000 bonus prestige per supergroup member. However, an error in the script for the test server caused that one-time grant to be repeated the following day." -
Quote:No, you are wrong. Definition is:No. To be an acronym, it would have to be a short form of a three-word phrase, where the THREE words started with M, O, and B respectively.
"a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words, as Wac from Women's Army Corps, OPEC from Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or loran from long-range navigation. "
Please note, it says initial letters or GROUPS OF LETTERS. It is not restricted to only the FIRST letter. They specifically give the example of loran which is constructed from THREE words, not five. -
Join the club. Every system I've built, I was genuinely surprised when everything worked on the first try.

Quote:So you honestly and truly do not know how the market works, yet you are composing a letter to the devs to tell them how to fix it.Listing order prevails when all other factors are equal. It is a FIFO system.
Priceless, absolutely priceless.
P.S. I was part of the group that tested the system and PROVED it is not FIFO. I speak from EXPERIENCE and FIRST-HAND KNOWLEDGE when I talk about the market. -
Quote:They are still balancing around SO's.I haven't played it yet, so I'll at least SLIGHTLY reserve judgement, but from the description it does sound a bit much.
If the devs are no longer balancing the game toward people playing with SOs but are in fact assuming IO builds, it would be nice if they said so.
I have played those missions, multiple times, and it's not over the top. It's a refreshing change. Yes, it's very hard for some AT's. Lots of enemies are like that; easy for some AT's or powersets and hard for others. -
Quote:Firstly, Impish Kat correctly notes that there has been ZERO indication of a merging of hero and villain transportation routes.I then went to my villain base and looked up the beacon, just to find that it wasn't there. Maybe its because they are not allowing that yet? Or does anyone know if they will allow it when issue 19 arrives? Could a red name comment on this?
As for beacons to the opposite side, I think we can be pretty sure it's not in Issue 19. I think we can also be pretty sure that we won't see this at all until such time as they decide to let characters enter bases of the opposing faction. If ever. -
And this is why my Dominator will never visit Paragon City - the villain power is just outstanding for Dominators. Actually, it's pretty good for Brutes and Stalkers too. I haven't played a Corruptor or MM since GR.

Yeah, that's not a problem because you're not actually paying for the software - you can download the software for free. You're paying to have an account that lets you connect to the game servers.

Forgot to post this earlier (i.e. during the event). Some of the Halloween costume powers have a teensy problem.....

Ones that have this problem are:
Malta Operative
Scrapyarder
Paragon Protector
(I have few toons with tails and didn't do much trick-or-treating on them.)
If anyone else has identified costumes with this problem, list them here and then we can PM a dev about it so they can get fixed for next year.
The following costumes work correctly:
Council Penumbra
Vahzilok Eidolon
Skyraiders
Tsoo Inkman
Nemesis Soldier
Crey Agent
Crey Powersuit
Crey Security
Freakshow Stunner
Troll
Skulls Thug
Banished Pantheon Shaman -

I think ice is one of the better sets. My ice tank is one of my few tanks who has neither Tough nor Weave - I just didn't feel that he needed them. umm... pausing to think about it, I think my ice and stone tanks are the ONLY ones that don't have Tough or Weave (and I've played every armor set).
I think a lot of people are put off ice (and dark armor) by the graphics. I think stone is perceived as pretty ugly also, but people tolerate it because Granite Armor is so uber.
So make an ice tank. It's a fine set. -
Quote:But you have to understand something: saying "I want, I want, I want." just doesn't seem as persuasive as "Most people feel..." or "It's better for the game if...."Hi. As someone around the 54 month mark (had some breaks in there since my original join date), please stop presuming to speak for when others are having "fun" or what we need to have "fun".
See what I mean? It always ends up with what's "good for the game", because the person posting naturally knows more about what's good for the game than the people whose salaries depend on the game. -
Yowch! That's hot. Are you comfortable with opening up the case? With temperatures like that, I would wonder if the heatsink is seated correctly and the fan is running. My last comp had a Core2 Duo and, with both CPU's running at 100% utilization (CoH and SETI@home), I'd hit around 64C on a warm day (80F).

Quote:Your post is mostly right on target. Let me add one thing you did not directly address: You don't NEED the super-expensive enhancements TO HAVE FUN.Wow. You guys are really addicted to the fact that market prices need to be 2 billion, and that playing the market is how to make money.
Let me clue you in to a little fact. Most people who get this game want to create and run characters. Most of the people who play this game want to earn rewards with their characters.
Think about it. Think about marketing a game. It is a game, remember. Stay with me now. A game is supposed to be fun. You remember fun, right? -
Quote:You have to also look at it from the other side: Do the developers believe that this will make for a game with LONGEVITY? Yes. There are plenty of hardcore gamers who will work work work to get the best of everything. They are trying to appeal to a wide variety of play styles.Do the developers really believe this is what makes for a happy gaming community?
We get what you are saying, but you are wrong.Quote:I understand what you are saying about diminishing returns. I am saying, there is no feasible way for anyone to get one toon fully tricked out with purples and PvP enhancers unless they 1) farm all day every day for a year. (farm, not play) 2) buy in game cash from china illegally.
You can get the funds with minimal effort by playing the market.
Sorry, but both are very VERY bad suggestions.Quote:couple of easy peasy fixes to the market.
A)Cap all market prices at 250 million. the only people who will cry about this are 1) Farmers 2) China Farmers 3) Farming China Farmers
B) Set it so that in an average 3 month playing at 50 content ( 20 hours per week let's call it, so 240 hours at 50 ) there is a 90% likelihood of getting 6 high end enhancers, purple or Pvp.
The first will massively screw up the market. That's what price caps do. Look at historical real life examples. Don't take our word for it.
As for the second, again, no. How about if you have to PvP to get PvP enhancers? That's kind of why they're called that. As for the purples, your yardstick makes it WAY too easy to get them. Some players will lose interest and move on. -
Quote:Point of order. I knew a player who had only one character and it wasn't GG. I submit that there might be a couple dozen people with only a single toon. That just throws your numbers all out of whack....There's something on the rough order of a hundred thousand players, and all of them except Golden Girl have at least two characters, probably more.

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to find Hess for the TF. All the other TF contacts (off the top of my head) are near some kind of landmark, whether it be a trainer, train station, base portal (or all of the above, like Citadel).
With Hess, you know he's on that ledge overlooking the base so you just make your way along until you spot him. -
