That guide is crazy long, but it says you should start the trial in Pocket D since that gives you a hospital and inspiration vendor right by the base portal.

Every trial I have been on started in the Rikti War Zone - presumably for those exact reasons.

And I happen to like playing CoH. That's *WHY* I play it.

It sounds like you think there are large numbers of players who grind and farm just to get the rewards for the rewards own sake. I don't believe that to be accurate. Sure, there are plenty of people who farm, and not because they enjoy farming. They want something specific to increase their ENJOYMENT of the game and farming is the fastest way they know to get it.

Or maybe you will. Unless you're consistently using O2 Boost at least once per 120 seconds, you're not getting your moneys worth from the IO. Also, it doesn't really make sense (to me) to have it in a power that costs END anyway. You're paying END to boost your recovery. Finally, after a fight ends and you're down HP and END, are you going to remember to zap someone with O2 Boost to keep your regen and recovery up?

<sigh> They might think that if they were repeatedly dropped on their heads as a small child. I can make up delusional paranoid stories too but is there really a point to it?

Don't get me started on that. It drives me nuts how many people think they have "tin foil" in their kitchen. It's ALUMINUM FOIL, people!


Actually, if you devoted ANY thought to this, you'd realize that those cases absolutely prove my point. In case you missed it, I said prices are a result of "SUPPLY and demand". Cartels in the real world can manipulate the supply. And before the market conspiracy nuts chime in, that doesn't work in CoH because supply springs into existence out of thin air.

That doesn't make sense. Currently, the badge is awarded when the head is defeated. The tentacles contribute nothing toward getting the badge. How is this significantly different from having the badge based on damage but only counting the fight against the head?

After all, you're not attacking one critter during the fight. Technically, Lusca is 9 monsters.

I'm pretty sure at least some of them are. There was a story a while back how someone with the name Frostfire got generic'ed. He appealed the decision and got his name back due to the fact that he had the name FIRST (before the NPC was introduced to the game).

Two, actually. You get 'Pain Killer' automatically for completing the trial. If you choose the buff as your reward, you also get 'Power Liberator' (for heroes and vigilantes) or 'Master Thief' (for villains and rogues).

Oh REALLY? Are you going to look me in the eye (monitor) and tell me that you aren't trying to get the highest score you can?

When I play CoH, I do so for the "express purpose" of playing CoH. And I prefer to play characters that can earn XP, rather than characters that are already 50. It's human nature. People want to accomplish something, even if it's in a game. They want to see progress. They enjoy setting and passing milestones.


Your example fails again. In both cases, aren't people KEEPING SCORE? When you go bowling, do you just toss the ball and not keep track of how many pins you knock down?

Another one with no clue. The devs and NPCs don't set any prices. The players do. It's called supply and demand. In the real world, this explains why gold is more expensive than tin.

No. The STF and LRSF are apparently considered complementary. They give the SAME INCARNATE COMPONENT (Incarnate Essence... or is it Essence of the Incarnate?). Same story for Barracuda and Dr. Kahn (Dimensional Keystone).

Having said that, since they are not the SAME TF, you can run STF/LRSF back to back and get the rewards. Similar to how you can run all 3 respec trials back to back and get the full rewards.

Since you say "us", I guess you're referring to the Titanium Debtinators. While I am in that group (and an officer), I also run a coalition of three supergroups.

Well, ouch. Surely you understood from my over-the-top phrasing that I was joking. If you look at my sig, you'll see I'm in Paragon City Search And Rescue (a public service SG) and The Mentor Project (which is about helping new players). The overwhelming majority of the players are not jerks.

Please tell us how you are checking that. My procs have been working perfectly.
oops, you said by checking Combat Attributes. That's weird. Mine are working fine. Did you check in the 120 seconds after using the power?

Sounds like way too much work.
My marketeering is uber-casual and brings in well SOUTH of 100 million per week (over 50, though). Combining that with regular game play, my 'cash on hand' steadily increases. My needs are simple.

So my statement that begins with the words, "The requirement IS" was 100% correct.

Getting prestige isn't as hard as you might think. A number of people like to 'burn' influence and will convert some to prestige for you. Also, there are often SGs and VGs for sale. If someone happens to be selling one with a name you like.... Also, you can earn crazy amounts during double XP weekend. If you're going to create the SG, the time is now! (Or at least before Jan 27.)


I don't recall if this works now, or not. Can a hero and villain trade items now? If so, you just get one person from the SG and one from the VG to meet by the base portal in RWZ and hand the stuff off.

I still wouldn't go with that one. It's OLD. It's not just last years tech, it's OLD. Look at the Zalman cooler I linked in my post. It's *HUGE* compared to that one. At this minute, I am running SETI@home and Rosetta@home so all 4 cores are running flat-out at 100% utilization. My temperature readings are ranging between 53 and 55C. My previous dual-core CPU would be pushing 60C with the Intel stock cooler.


You won't see a huge improvement in mission loading time. Most of that pause seems to be server-side.


Re-read these paragraphs. I agree completely with each point. FYI, I have Win7 Pro, CoH, MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, etc and my SSD has 38GB used (out of 128). You mention you're thinking about a couple of other games. Get a bigger SSD.

You know, despite being set up to auto-renew, one of my accounts failed to do so last month. I have no idea why, since it was on the same credit card as my main account and the billing fell in a different month so it couldn't have hit any cap.

I will be really cheesed if I fail to get these goodies because NCSoft borks my billing.
