Devilfish Badge Broken?

I was on the way to a mission in Independence Port on my level 37 Brute, when I ran across Lusca. I still needed the Devilfish badge, so I figured I'd assemble a team together to take her down. I gathered together seven others to form a team of eight, and we proceeded to take down all eight tentacles. After all eight tentacles were vanquished, we proceeded to beat on Lusca's head. I spammed all of my Brute's attacks the entire time. When Lusca was beaten, I was rewarded two reward merits... but no badge. The native Primal Earth heroes on the team all received the badge, while those that started in Praetoria, or the Rogue Isles, did not. I don't know if that's coincidence, but is the Devilfish badge broken?

I looked through the subjects of all the threads for the past four months or so, so I apologize if this topic has already been brought up.

Got Devilfish on my Mastermind a few weeks ago, so no problems here.

I defeated Lusca (and all tentacles) solo on one of my characters yesterday so there should've been no way to avoid getting the badge, but for some reason I didn't get it. Only noticed it today because I happened to get a debt or an influence badge when defeating it triggering the "Badge earned" text. My character is also a Praetorian so that might be the cause of it.

I had this issue a little while ago with my villain, who is an original Primal. All I did at the time was open a bug report on the issue and was awarded the badge soon after.

Do this if you didn't get the badge.


Devilfish is a "thank-you for watching" badge. Anyone in the vicinity of the defeat of the Luscan head gets the badge, you don't even need to do 10% or 20% damage.

Tried this again yesterday. Assembled a team of eight, seven of which were Praetorians without the Devilfish badge. Took down all eight tentacles, and Lusca. Everyone received the badge. Sooo... shrug. I dunno. Random bug I suppose, but not linked to Praetorians in any case. Thanks for the help, y'all.

As was echoed from Zombie man, put in a bug report. They will award it for you, cause it will show up on their end when the (GMs) check.

I've done this on three characters now, at least one Villain and one Praetorian. Didn't do one spec of damage to Lusca, just waited nearby until it got defeated and I got the badge.

They made it this way due to the way that Lusca keeps "swimming" away. The mechanics of it are that Lusca actually despawns when a tentacle is defeated and a "new" Lusca who is -1 Tentacle to the previous one spawns somewhere else. If they only awarded it based on damage done, they'd end up with characters doing damage to all the tentacles but then not damaging the head and then not getting the badge even after doing over 7/8th damage to the monster.

I'm pretty sure I had one character who missed out on the badge because he did the entire fight for all the tentacles and the head but ended up taking a hospital trip and not being in range when the head was finally defeated.

That doesn't make sense. Currently, the badge is awarded when the head is defeated. The tentacles contribute nothing toward getting the badge. How is this significantly different from having the badge based on damage but only counting the fight against the head?

After all, you're not attacking one critter during the fight. Technically, Lusca is 9 monsters.
