Quote:Pardon me for a moment. I need to take control of these Council robots that are in a parade and have them open fire on the civilian bystanders. They seem to be striving for "Mustache-twirling villains," not the "RL kind of villains" that do the kinds of things that make CNN Breaking News.**

(Yes, that's in a tip mission.) -
My cousin was visiting a vintage clothing store in London and asked about the 'plaid pants' in the window. The salesperson had no idea what she was talking about and asked her to point it out; "Ah! The tartan trousers!"
In the UK, they had no idea what "plaid" meant and pants = underwear. -
What kind of endgame do I want?
umm...... content? Really, anything is fine. I was never concerned about the lack of endgame content. I play at all levels all the time. My main character is built for exemping and has exemped as low as level 1.
So, from where I'm sitting: "We're getting new stuff? Cool." -
Okay, that's your opinion. Why don't we wait and see how everyone else likes it. The majority of players don't play on the test servers and the majority of players don't visit the forums.

Quote:Place your bids before you need the IO's. Patience is worth money at the consignment house. Your example is the Obliteration set. I love this set. I know I'm going to slot it often. I put bids up weeks before I need the pieces. I routinely get the *QUAD* for under 35 million. 200 million for the set? Not for me.Not to sound like a dink here but... 1 Billion on a Biuld really isn't all that much. Even simple sets like Obliterations or Positrons blast can cost you a good 200 mil + for 1 power sloted with them.
Fire Tanker alone could slot 3 full sets of Obliteration without touching thier secondary. ( 600 mil ish already thier). -

'Semi frankenslot'
Frankenslotting is when you use IO pieces from various (cheap) sets to get the best performance from the power at a bargain rate, ignoring the existence of set bonuses.
In the sets that offer +recovery bonuses, it's always the first bonus. I have a defender (from before Inherent Fitness) who did not have the Fitness pool and had +34% recovery from sets (no unique IO's). If a power needed 4 slots, I put 2 from one set and 2 from another, to get 2 recovery bonuses in that power. He has a couple of powers 6-slotted with pairs from 3 different sets. (He also has a few powers with 5 pieces from the same set because I wanted the bonuses.)
Getting your recovery this way is *CHEAP*. You can slot the entire character for less than the price of one decent set. In some cases, you can slot the entire character for less than the cost of a single piece from a good set (like the Obliteration quad). -
Quote:Firstly, random is random. From the introduction of the Weekly Strike Targets, up until a week ago, I got ZERO purples. In the past week, I got THREE: Fortunata Hypnosis, Armageddon and Ragnarok. I also got a respec recipe in the same ITF I got the Ragnarok. Thanks for the information about the farming. I've been slaughtering monsters for 3 days in a row now and still haven't gotten a single purple (I've done the ITF 8 times in the past two days
And you won't. You can't get purples from random rolls. Ever.Quote:and also got none from the Random Recipie Merit Reward Scrolls). -
Yeah, "active" is a relative term. Before the free transfers, Infinity was typically 3rd and, during major events, I've seen it go red. After the server transfers, server ranking ORDER seems about the same, but Freedom and Virtue are now HUGE. They are just jammed with people and I have never seen any other server get into 2nd place, nor have I seen any other server go red while Freedom and Virtue go red frequently.Quote:While it is technically the third most active everytime I log in based on the server list, it's still pretty much dead during afternoons, at GMT time zones.
Still, Infinity is active enough for me. It's home. -

Part of it is the number of enemies using the Shield Defense set. With the ally buff, there are a lot of server side calculations. Whatever portion is caused by this, we're going to have to live with. They can't fix it without ditching the powerset for the Cimerorans.

I got a new version of this issue the other day.
1. Positron TF and the person assembling the team is level 12 so passes the star before we start.
2. Someone has an emergency and quits during the first mission.
3. We do the second mission and it repeats.
I explain the steps that should fix it. Leader and one other person immediately start logging. I wait to see if the leader logging will help.
Here's the good part: when those two people logged in, they were A NEW TEAM. They did not show the rest of us on their team and they did not appear on our team. They DID have the next TF mission ready to go. So, the rest of us re-logged. As we did so, each person dropped off the team stuck on the previous mission and became part of the new team with the correct mission.
Weird, eh? I wonder if this is what was happening all along, but I never saw it because we would usually have the entire team re-log at once. -

Quote:And, to all of that, "So what?"Lady Grey is just another chick with superpowers who won't come clean about her background.
The competition has already told that story. It didn't end well for the protagonist, or about, oh, half the population of the planet he was standing on at the time.
For that matter, if there was ever any shred of decency in Tyrant (which I doubt), your position was also his.
I explained the thinking of my characters. Whether you, or your characters, find it acceptable doesn't matter. -
Quote:You're confusing two things that are only marginally related. The 'hero vs villain' mindset/background/whatever is not the problem with PvP. The PvP MECHANICS (how PvP actually works) is the problem with PvP. It has nothing to do with hero vs villain conflict. In fact, I see a decline in terms of Heroes v.s. Villains. One of the most obvious cue on that withered conflict is within the PvP zones. They're all but deserted at the moment.
So, figure out whether you have an issue with the degree of hero/villain conflict in the WRITING and STORIES, or if you want to talk about PvP. The two subjects really aren't related. -
Or you can have a bind that takes a screenshot with the UI and leaves it turned off when you're done.
bind ctrl+sysrq "screenshotui 1$$screenshot$$screenshotui 0"
Assuming you haven't changed anything else, the PrintScreen button (which is actually called sysrq) will take a shot WITHOUT the UI and Ctrl-SysRq will take a shot WITH the UI. -
Quote:So your thread title should really be, "Smoke is working fine, but I chose to bork it."If you smoke a typical crowd you've caused -Recharge on at least 1 on the group and since they are all tied they aggro on me and not just a little bit.
So now, my uber cool smoke has a 100% chance to aggro.

Quote:bzzt! Exploit attempt!Wow. That puts a different perspective on things for me and my solo SG's. I may be recreating some lower level characters as Praets instead of sideswitching them. Get a nice group together and use them as SG fillers for each new base I start.
Sorry, it doesn't work that way. The prestige bonus goes to the FIRST SG they join after leaving Praetoria.
Quote:The first supergroup that a Praetorian-origin character joins gains a bonus of 100,000 prestige. This is in order to make up for the prestige the character would have earned in the level 1-20 range while they were unable to join a supergroup before leaving Praetoria. -
um, no. Are you trying to start a CoH myth, or joking, or simply mistaken?

Oh, we'll just have a little patience, apply some thought, and Bob's your uncle!

Quote:It can't actually control you or hurt you unless you let it, and the only way you can let it is if you're irresponsible, or otherwise desperate.I'm taking what Lady Grey said at face value. She seems to 1) have a clue and 2) not be trying to put one over on me.Quote:How do you know that, or more importantly how do our characters know that?
The bad guys keep getting more powerful. In order to stop them, I have to take some risks. I mean, I'm taking a big risk every day that I go out to fight crime. -
Quote:And you shouldn't. Fire armor is not a defense-based set. And I'm not just saying, "It doesn't make sense for fire armor to have def debuff resistance." (Which it doesn't.) I'm saying that the set SHOULD NOT have it. It makes sense for it to have NONE.Why? Because while I can add Defense to my tank and I have now spent nearly a BILLION to try and make her durable - I don't have Resistance to Defense De-buffs.
Different armor sets have different strengths. Fire is not the best set for the ITF. It's not unplayable - scrappers can tank Recluse with the right support - but it's not the best choice.
And this is as it should be. No tank should be the best at everything. A tank using Granite comes pretty close, but the price is that they suck at doing damage and even moving around.
So my vote is that fire armor should not have resistance to defense debuffs. And invuln should never get any defense or resistance to psi attacks. And so on. -
Adding to the problem is the fact that the colors are hard to tell apart. And if you have a high resolution monitor, it's practically impossible (unless the monitor is huge).
