    *edit* Curse you EarthWyrm!
  2. An interesting development: Wing Protectors of Light is back in the #1 spot. They now have just over 1 billion prestige, compared to Psychotix's 789 million. Looks like they take the prestige matter seriously.
  3. One way is for the seller to put up additional items as collateral. In your case, for the first transaction you would put up a billion inf, while the seller would put up one or more items with a total value of roughly one billion. Repeat for the second transaction, while for the third transaction the seller would put up the desired item while you would put up the last billion plus the collateral. This method requires the seller to have surplus valuable items lying around, but it is safe at every step of the trade.

Another possibility is for both the buyer and seller to make the initial 'handshake' here on the forums, then post the results after the trade is completed. It's not a guarantee against a scam, but it could act as a deterrent if both parties stake their reputation (to a degree) on the outcome.

I'll say this much: for the small number of off-market trades I've made, folks have been completely honorable. CoH has one of the best communities of any MMO.

I'd still like to see both the inf cap and the maximum trade cap raised though.
  4. I felt this when I played my warshade. Always seemed like I was 3-5 seconds behind the rest of the team. Mire, switch forms, Mire, switch... oh, everything is almost dead already... Stygian Circle, Dark Extraction... hey, wait for me!

My night widow, on the other hand, has probably caused a lot of grief to others. I don't know how many times I swooped in on a target just as a tanker or scrapper started to wind up, and finished it off with a couple of quick attacks before they could deliver the blow. Sorry! Heh heh.
  5. One more thing: if they start making lower-level TF's weekly strike target, we're going to be swimming in salvage for that level range.
  6. There's no lack of upper-tier salvage (41-50), and the lower tier (1-25) isn't bad either. It's the middle tier that has the problem.

AE tickets already act as an off-market pressure valve of sorts. I'd also like to see an ability to convert salvage from one tier to another. For example, transform three pieces of common upper-tier salvage into one random piece of mid-tier common salvage. That would help to balance supply among the tiers.

That's not how you balance the market, that's how you determine if the market is a witch.
  8. Motivation is a big factor I think. Psychotix is still #2 on Freedom, though they are close to the #1 spot. Looking at it right now, they have 749 million while Wing Protectors of Light has 752 million.

    Dear RNG,

The RNG and I have an understanding. I don't make it work harder by rolling on merits, and in return I get purple drops from tip missions. So far it's been an excellent relationship.

    Ancient Boned

The seller determines the minimum price that he or she is willing to accept for an item. By selling at 1 inf, you were willing to accept any price. It's as simple as that, and I thought it had already been established that many folks just pay what they want for most common salvage without trying to bid creep. If there's any greater revelation here, I'm missing it.

I agree with this completely. I've suggested in the past increasing the drop rate for purples on AV's and GM's. I think the suggestion for the 'Master of x' TF's is excellent.

I think LuxunS is counting on that. I certainly am.

That could be what the OP meant, and if so then I misunderstood what he was driving at. The easy answer is 'add money sinks' but that topic is already well-worn ground. Short of that, I think the devs already have good reward systems in place. Reward merits, alignment merits, and AE tickets are essentially inflation-proof.

    2) Rebalance the drop rates within each recipe pool. Right now, I believe all recipes with a pool at a given level have an equal chance to drop; I'd weight the drops based on the popularity of powers that can slot a given recipe.
Are they? I thought that the drop rates were weighted in one of the patches. I've missed a lot of patch notes though, so I may be mistaken.
  14. Show the bid and sell prices for each item. Show the sales history, including price and volume.
  15. Hmm, only 232.5% on a claws/regen scrapper. This is probably a very playable build. Not sure I'd want to foot the bill for it though.

  16. The problem I could see with tracking recipes is that something that's in low demand might not give enough data points for his project. With salvage, everything has enough volume to make the task of obtaining good data samples a breeze.

Revanchist, have you considered monitoring one common, one uncommon, and one rare salvage? That might give some interesting results.

The only thing I noticed skimming through that long post was that TT:Maneuvers is taken way too late, and underslotted. At the very least, swap it with pool Maneuvers.
  18. There needs to be a ban on using real-world analogies to describe CoX's economy. They tend to fit poorly due to fundamental differences between MMO's and the real world, and they sidetrack the discussions. Really, I thought Eryq made a fairly interesting point in the post to which I responded earlier, before folks started talking about gasoline.
  19. MM's are pretty end-friendly in general, while WP has superior recovery with Quick Recovery and Stamina. Widows don't have it that easy.

The toggles shouldn't be a big problem, especially if you have some end redux already. The attacks are going to chew up most of your endurance, so put as much redux in them as you can afford. I agree with Riley about Miracle/Numina/Performance Shifter; ideally have all three. The uniques made a major improvement for my widow when I was able to slot them. Also, look into the Atlas Medallion accolade. It's doable by level 30.

I play the market because the market is playable. The inefficiencies built into its design make it the best reward system in the game for me in terms of time and effort. The fact that the best loot in the game can be traded provides my incentive to marketeer. If you want players like me to stop, then one of those things has to change.

FWIW though, my intentions aren't malicious. I don't delete stuff or try to corner markets or anything like that. It isn't necessary.
  21. I haven't been paying much attention to this thread, but I see that PsychotiX is at 649 million prestige, so it looks like they're burning inf in a hurry. That puts them at #2 on Freedom.

*edit: and I just now noticed the new thread about it *

  23. Not very knowledgeable about dual pistols, but I'd say that the traps corruptor or crab spider would benefit the most from high recharge. Otherwise, go with whatever you enjoy the most, since that's what you're still likely to play at 50.
  24. How are you defining casual versus dedicated? I could potentially fall into either category depending on the criteria.
  25. Not sure about Scirocco, but with respect to the other two enemies, yes, Rectified Reticle will give you enough +perception to see well enough to fight as long as they are no more than 1 or 2 levels higher than you and you aren't getting stacked with -perception powers. Against +1 widows and tarantulas my perception is 100' while blinded.
