Another thing is to use a Driver Uninstall tool to clean the old ones off prior to putting the new ones on - the older drivers can cause various issues and can affect performance.

Quote:One weakness I have found with pole-weapons is that if the opponent does manage to get in close enough, the pole-weapon user is at a serious disadvantage. The Pole-weapon tends to get in the way, more than keeping the opponent away.
Granted, I haven't had the years of experience that you have had, but I have had some experience both using pole-weapons and fighting against them.
You use elbows and aikido type movements to slide or over-balance your opponent in close range. Polearms have 3 ranges close, intermediate and long.
Close you had slid down the shaft and the lower hand is extended out a bit and your top hand is closer to your head. This creates an angle that deflects and also lets you stop the opponent from circling to that side.
Intermediate is mostly a transition range where you are neither close nor long and it's mostly a prepatory position that allows you to move to either range quickly.
Long range - this is your bread and butter. You can circle feint, thrust, cross over or any of a number of combinations. Plus again a parry is always available from every range. -
What I would love to see is a TF involving the Banished Pantheon.
I would make it several missions of the Banished stealing various arcane items like the Wheel of Destruction and other things under guard by Azuria.
I would have it culminate with the Banished placing the Spirit of Adamaster inside of the Atlas statue. I would have a cut scene of Atlas using the globe to smash a costume contest being held there.
I would have Azuria actually chipping in and using her powers to heal and send the wounded NPC Heroes to the hospital as the transporters are over worked. Then you would have to Break the Wheel of Destruction and defeat Adamaster once he is removed from the statue.
I don't know about you but I think it would be a great 30+ TF! -
Considering i have done Bojitsu for 35 years and out of those 35 have done 20 years SCA Polearm fighting - I approve of this suggestion.
I would also add in a Parry similar to Broadsword as the range and threat of the polearm is also defense all its own
Each week we do what we call the 100 - you receive and give 100 blows and I did 400 received shots while defending with a polearm! So it is also a defense boost. -
Electric/Archery
I have one and she is VERY good. The mixture once you look over the powers meshes very well. -
Blasters in a perfect world or while buffed can do the most damage.
I think in pure survivability and damage a Fire/Dark or Spines/dark would pass us with the self heals and debuffs and dual damage auras. -
Oh, I still think it is a weaker set.
However if you like it - have fun! I tried it and since I don't have a concept character for DP yet - like for instance:
Mab Queen of Winter - she was inspired by the Dresden Files books. She is an Ice/Storm controller and at times was PAINFUL to level. Solo? She can't finish a kill all mission in and hour! In teams she locks everything down. If I was asked how does she rate? I would say even IO'd out she is weaker than many other controllers. But I like her for she was a concept.
A blaster due to the style I enjoy playing - needs first and foremost DAMAGE. I have an Ice/Ice blaster whom I quite like as she is very good at control and damage. I still have to go for all out chaos nothing beats the thrill of a Fire/Fire Blaster. It is a roller coaster ride of damage out versus damage in. Most of the time I win the battle and when I don't - I will next time! -
Is it worth the influence?
It is a journey not a destination. You just slowly add things - get combat jump and its better. Then get your 41 level power and its better. You add some shields and some Mez resistance and its better.
On a blaster for me its my character concept and damage. I just want vast quantities of orange numbers. Not concerned with death or debt - I always get swift 3 slotted with run speed and combat jumping so I can zip back and forth over the top raking them with damage. Then jumping back over them.
Obviously getting a couple steadfast or anti-knockback IO's of some flavor and boosting the mez protection. I really think it is more of the mindset you use going in.
On a team I let the melee go in and count to 4 - then let fly with everything I have. -
Elektro - that is the issue isn't it?
I have characters that I took to 30 and found I wasn't happy with where they were going and the powers didn't do what I wanted for the concept.
On other characters I don't really care for them even from the beginning but leveled them up because it is nice to have a Kin to buff a team in a TF, it is nice to have a tank who you can switch to, it's nice to have a controller when needed and it's nice to have a pure damage blaster at times.
I have built blasters both ways - where I try and survive and where I try to just deliver the utmost damage and damn the torpedo's if I die - First one to Valhalla buys the beer!
In my opinion the latter was the most fun - whether I lived or died meant nothing to me - debt is just karma paying you back for all the damage you are doing! Let my team try and keep me alive and I will try and destroy every living thing faster than they believe possible. Min/Max? Nope just Max - Maximum damage!
Seriously on my high level blasters - I have aid self, temp rez power from the market and 2 rows of purples, 2 rows of breakfree's and the rest blues so I can keep pounding damage - I never "keep" reds or yellows they are meant to be fed immediately into the damage machine.
I was tanking on a team with my Blaster - a guy joins and says what the? I said damage is the best mitigation and proceeded to unleash all the fires of hell onto them - I took damage but never slowed down. They all died - I was in the red popped heal self and was healed by the controller on the team and rolled on to the next group - they guy only stayed for one mission he said watching my health drop constantly was making him too nervous!
As a Blaster aggro and debt are the ultimate complement. You got their attention and they don't like you enough to send their very best attacksBlasterlock is very fun.
-
Making an Electric/Kinetic myself and he is very fun!
Kinetic Thunder
Only 24 so far but he has potential. -
I have also found Fire/Electric is not bad at all the knockdown/up of Electric is very helpful in helping mitigate damage.

Quote:At Max level?I was wondering if any of you guys are playing with the latest and greatist hardware, playing in full teams without crashing and lag on full teams?
1.) I was wondering if I would noticed a difference switching from nividia gforce 8800
to an ati card. (never owned an ati card before)
Basically what hardware right now would it take to play this game at max with out crashing
and experience at full level?
I would say at a minimum:
AMD Phenom II 955 Quad Core or Intel equivilent (i5 or i7)
4 Gb DDR3 Ram
nVidia 460 GTX or Radeon 6850
That should play everything fine and bumping up any of these will help. -
That system will play the game on the highest settings no problem. Understand what some folks don't get is Dell, HP, Toshiba and all the rest use other peoples components and make a system out of them.
No different from this system or one you build yourself. It's at that point just a matter of quality components. If you can call them and ask:
1. what model motherboard is in the tower?
2. who makes the memory?
3. who makes the hard drive?
4. Who makes the video card?
5. who makes the power supply unit?
Then you can check on newegg to see how they are rated. -
Quote:Thanks for the support.
Some readers obviously understand where I am coming from and others do not...imagine that...
I freely admit that complaining about the complainers is hypocritical. How many of the doom-criers will come out and admit that, hmm?
I am well aware I am blowing off steam and it will, in no way, change how the haters hate.
I am, however, laughing even now at those people who post rude and immature drivel trying to attack the developers yet still pay them. Hilarious!
(and yes - Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt is what I was referring to, but Elmer is my hero!)
Edit: Ok, saw your answer to Sam while I was posting. Define or point to something you believe is an attack?
I still would like a more specific answer.
You just said I don't like people who speak FUD and Doom. That's it? Sometimes those people are right. If all you want is a bunch of people to say - I agree and I too don't like it. Congratulations.
But perhaps you would say exactly WHAT FUD and Doom you don't like? -
Quote:What exactly are you talking about? The title really says it all.
I have grown increasingly tired of the FUD that players who fear any change bring to the forums as well as the DOOM criers, who, after many years of success for this game, have apparently ALWAYS been dead wrong.
Yeah, I know I might as well be trying to stop a hurricane with tissue paper, but sometimes, I just get fed up with it.
Here we are, when the game has never had more ways to play, more things to do and more ways to them and all the Negative Nancy's can do is attempt to find fault with something.
It's sickening. It's one of the reasons that I am often embarrassed to call myself a gamer, lest I be thrown in with people that think it's a good idea to gather the pitchforks because a digit in the game got change from 2 to 1.5 and that the only appropriate response is to set themselves and everyone they can touch on fire.
Is every process in the game perfect? Of course not, because that is not possible, as the definition of perfect lies with each person differently for a fun pastime. Is it plenty fun enough to keep enough subscribers to be profitable? Apparently so, even when I recall posts determined to convince everyone the game would not be here for another month, pretty much from the beginning.
Now, constructive criticism is a needed form of feedback and there are plenty of posters who give great feedback.
But, this incessant need to degrade the work of the people pouring their hearts into this game is really unnecessary, immature and rude. I for one am simply sick of seeing it and post this to show current and future players that the Negative Nancy's are not only WRONG but are a small minority of the games population.
So, even thought there are those that will attack me, my post and possibly my heritage, I say to the Haters, you are WRONG. You have always been WRONG. The game is still here, still profitable, still moving in a positive direction.
If you don't like the game anymore, or never did, and yet you still play and or post your hate on the forums, the jokes on you. If you don't realize that, it just makes it all the more amusing.
What complaining? The PvP state? Seriously be a little more specific or its just a I love everything about this game and nothing could be changed to make it better thread and throws you solidly into the Apologist camp.
If it is PvP - it is a complete hot mess. Try walking into the zone and realize NONE of your powers affect you or the ones you fight like they do as soon as you walk out of the zone. The state of PvP is zero - there basically is none and if you think those who criticize people who were responsible for where the game is in relation to that part of the game are wrong, you need to take a long hard look at it. -
Quote:Yes, in a word and I would use the auslogic disk defragmenter:Never heard about the updater's fragmentation impact before. Does that basically mean I should defrag my hard drive after each patch?
http://download.cnet.com/auslogics-d...-10567503.html
There is also a drop down menu where it says Defrag and it allows for the disk to be optimized - sequentially copied into orderly files and takes a while the first time but once a week after that is plenty!
The updater will easily fragment 4,000 + files when it writes the changes. It noticably improves the function when defrag regularly.
Also I would highly recommend adding a Barracuda drive as a game drive. I am almost always the first into a zone using a 74gb Barracuda - they spin at 10,000 rpm versus normal drives at 7,200 rpm - plus a nice disk cache rounds out the speed increase -
After I reach level 22 I will often get random SO drops in the 20-24 range, I will save those up until I get 6 or 7 and then do a search under origins - level 18-21 and send a tell asking if they would accept a gift?
Then I email or visit them and drop off the SO's - it really makes a difference if you are level 18 with 4 resistance SO in your shields -
Organica - Mouse Police is my favorite toon out of everything I have seen here.
It inspired me to make - Mouse Traps! -
Tanking tips:
1. as you approach a group (if teaming) target the front mobs, jump OVER them and land in the back - taunt the front ones and start fighting the back ones. This stops cone attacks from harming your team and turns all of them with their backs to your people. Now you are fighting and looking BACK at your team. You can taunt any bad guys who stray after a squishie back into the fold.
2. MOVE - a LOT - normally your job in a team isn't damage it's holding aggro. I rarely punch the same guy 2 times in a row, I vary my target and keep moving letting my aura and Punchvoke/Gauntlet taunt them to me as I liberally taunt those nearest my squishies.
3. Keep it moving herding forward - a bored team starts to wander and pull unwanted aggro. Look at the health and stamina and if its ok leave the last few bad guys as you move forward taunt them one last time and head to the next group or groups. It's ok if the team takes 5-10 seconds to defeat the last of the mobs as you move forward.
4. Taunt versus no taunt. Taunt is a tool - it gives you a ranged aggro grabbing tool at level 10. Until you are into your late 30's most won't have access to any ranged attacks. You can go without taunt but you have to move a LOT more.
5. Corners - use corners to spread the damage in a high damage foe. Stand at a corner and taunt/attack then back up around the corner as those coming see you they will fire their initial salvo and it will be spread instead of all at once - then jump around the corner turning them for your team. They will then have their backs to your team and still be firing in a staggered way not all at once. This lets you survive even when it looks bleak. -
Quote:Are you listening to us or just ranting?I guess you're right, it is the devs' fault.
Please forgive me for doubting the wisdom of some random people on the internet that are still pissed off about something that happened in a video game over 2 years ago.
You're still here, and still complaining about it. And I see a number of PvPers routinely calling the devs stupid, lazy, and incompetent. I don't know about you, but if people called ME stupid, lazy, and incompetent all the time, I'd probably be a little slow to do what they want too.
So go ahead, blame the devs for everything that's wrong with PvP. I'll check back in a while and see if treating them like crap over it got you anywhere.
They completely changed the game in PvP - they did it and it was NOT what the players who were DOING PvP wanted.
In an attempt to vanilla the PvP so anyone could nip in and play - they gutted it.
Now I see people whining that the players using PvP IO's are to blame????? For using IO's the DEVS created? No the PvP IO's should be COMMON drops. That is how you make it popular - not making it a miracle to get one.
How about in a TF an option was - Choose PvP IO and let you CHOOSE from a LIST the one you want. No this sits directly with the Devs and the choices made. I know the apologists come out and point fingers at the players for a broken system - they didn't want and were forced to play or leave. -
Quote:Because just playing in the Arena in an open warfare battle gets old FAST.Arena matches can:
Have no travel suppression
Have Max Recovery if they want
Diminishing Returns or not
Heal Decay or not
Pool or No Pool Powers
Travel Powers or not
Use of Arena Temp Powers or not
Normal Insp/No Insp/Sm Insp only/Med or Sm Insp Only
Choice of Map
Any permutation of level, timing, number of kills, types of teams
So, what is it that PvPers are still waiting for? For Zones to go back to 'normal'? Zones have always been a joke even before The Big Changes simply because there's no control over number of participants which makes 'balance' an impossibility there.
Capture the flag?
Escort?
Mayhem?
Other types of PvP?
Hello! -
I have been playing something new for me, having never tried an electric/kinetics model - I rolled one and so far he is very fun!
Tanking even at low levels the only thing that gave me trouble was Vahziloks - but who don't they bother? Now I am at 21 and have done both Positron 1 & 2 - I can say he is really starting to come together.
On a different note anyone ever notice the Electric armor resistance to immobilize seems broken? Ruin mages were able to immobilize me every time! -
Delete awakens because the one more regular inspiration might just keep me alive on my blaster - repeatedly.
-
Again I say it - you reach for IO's in every occasion when you speak of a Fire armor character.
Try it on a second build - go out and buy JUST SO's. Then because you have so very many holes in the armor you end up running all of these:
Fire shield
Plasma shield
Combat jump
Acrobatics
Tough
Weave
Blazing Aura
(likely Hasten as well)
Now try a mission at +1x8 versus say - Council. You will be in big trouble VERY quickly. Even with Temperature Protection they will slow your heal and you will die.
Now if you have a Cold or FF buff you are all set! Then yes you are indeed a killing machine.
You will see the difference when one Tank/Brute/Scrapper can perform well with SO's and one basically requires IO's to have some level of equality. You are argueing that Fire armor is great - I am saying NOT out of the Box it's not - only after serious usage of IO's does it become better.
Tell me of another Armor with this issue? -
Personally I like either Fire/Dark Corrs or Electric Melee/Ninjitsu Stalker for solo.
The Fire/Dark can run +2x8 and clear maps FAST.
The Elec/Ninja Stalker can run +3 or +4 x 2 or 3 at level 24ish on.
