Quote:Sorry, totally off topic (what was the topic of this thread again?). But long in the past I painted Roles Royces--crazy stuff with airbrushes and sparkle paint--for an eccentric millionaire.Hey now. That's like saying an automaker should feel cars are like their children
The Roles-Royce company does keep track off all their cars as if they are their children. They even want you to get their permission if you decide to paint your Roles-Royce. I had some interesting back-and-forths with them when I told them what I was planning on painting on some of their cars. I finally had to tell them to bugger off when they were less than agreeable in their replies. -
For me the whole Free Issues thing (which are really free mini-expansions) was a ground-breaking first for CoH. They set a precedent that many other MMORPG's that followed it adopted. And now it's really a standard of the industry. 20 issues in 7 years is almost three issues per year. What other MMORPG has had that many expansions in 7 years?

Quote:I just have to ask. What 'better' parts of the game were removed when the 'end game' content was added? This game was so much better before end game. New content will not fix that
Since i20 my play style hasn't really changed. I've just now started to dabble with Incarnate Trials on a couple of my 50's. I'm in no rush. I still spend the majority of my time on my lower level alts. I'm sure the devs are working their butts off creating new content for the Incarnate system that addresses many of the players concerns. Such as additional Trials. Trials that can be soloed or small teamed, etc.
I can't think of any MMORPG that is 7 years old that gets this much love and attention from its developers. Seven years of content, with more coming all the time. -

It looks like the real question everyone wants answered in this thread is: "What exactly do we need to do to get the best rewards consistently." I have a feeling the devs didn't intend on creating a system that can be "played" that way.
Perhaps the primary issue we are dealing with now is our lack of understanding what 'random' really means? -
Wow! Amazing effort! And a thoroughly enjoyable experience for me, Antoinette!

I assume all SG bases are in the same Database where they are distinguished from one another by a "Server" field. It should be easy to "move" a SG base from one server to another since they are generated in a unique instance.

You know Sam, because lately you've been more critical than usual (is that possible?
) I figure this was going to be a complaint thread along the lines of: Darn those Devs for wasting time on fluff repair!
I'm happily surprised and pleased with the tone of this thread. -
Just a warning. When I first encounted these conversion options I wasn't clear on how they worked so I clicked the Create button just to take a look. The problem is that once the conversion options list is displayed there is no way to change your mind and back out of it. There is a Choose Nothing button, but clicking it loses your ingredients for the conversion.
Please Devs, change the Choose Nothing button to a Changed my Mind button that takes you back without destroying your conversion ingredients. -
Just a question of biology and social norms. Isn't the biological relationship between a Grand Father and Grand Daughter on a par with the genetic simularities (commonalities) between Cousins? And aren't cousins allowed to marry?

This the method I use to make tab targetting in CoX awesome:
I have my 't' key mapped like this:
/bind t "unselect$$toggle_enemy"
Tapping 't' then targets the closest enemy in front of me. Using the Tab key after that targets enemies one after the other outward. Any time I want to start back at the closest enemy again I just tap the 't' key. -
Quote:Dear Devs, please add an option that lets me turn OFF the ability to earn Rares and Very Rares on Incarnate Trials. Any reward system that pits the players on a Team/League against each other for rewards changes my teammates from my companions into my competition.I agree that PR is a big key here since it is likely one of the key problems with the system is psychological.
Speaking only for myself, I really don't have a problem if the reward system is designed that way. I take it all in stride. But a lot of people do. Especially the ones who want their new shinies NOW. Good luck with whatever system you do come up with. It is inevitable that many people will never be satisfied with it, sadly. -
Okay, like the hilarious alternate universe gender shifts of Fushionette and her boy friend in the Sutter TF, I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't see a female version of Tyrant and Marauder in one of the up-and-coming new Incarnate Trials.

When you're on your deathbed will you be looking back and wishing you'd taken the time to read more EULA's? Life is far to short to read EULA's

Quote:Thank you Arnabas. The above comment so completely describes my approach to CoX over the last 7 years that I just had to quote it.Me, I play because I love my characters, enjoy being a superhero and have friends here that I enjoy playing with no matter what we are doing. Maybe that puts me in the minority, because I am really surprised at how much (female dog)ing is going on over I20... To me, it lays the groundwork for a lot of cool stuff to come. I am perfectly happy with that. Judging by the reactions of a number of people, though, I think they should have waited to release it for another 8-10 months so that they could put in a few more trials, or other content. That way, perhaps fewer people would be complaining.
So far I have attempted one Lambda TF, which we failed. But I've been having too much fun with a couple of lower level alts lately to focus on I20 stuff exclusively. I'll get around to it when I'm good and ready. I'm one of those 'enjoys looking forward to stuff' people. By the time I do get around to doing BAF's and Lambda's the bugs will be fixed and most of my league-mates will have the previous experience with the TF's to make them go smoothly. -
My only comment would be: Don't tell people what to do when they already know what to do. And unless you are all sub-level 8, you probably already know how to play your characters.

Quote:This is one extreme. The other is a team where no one leads at all. Both those extremes are bad.In fact, I would probably start to resent it if the leader were constantly giving out instructions and telling everyone what to do. The only situations in which I find that acceptable are if you've signed up for something that needs done in specific way. A task force or raid for example.
Also If you're leading a team be sure to keep the momentum going. Do not, for example, go off to train and expect your teamates to stand around waiting for you. If you level after the first couple of missions and your enhancements just turned red you picked a really bad time to start up a team. -
Wait a minute! The last time Damz started a thread the servers were down for 11 hours! Noooooo!
Oh wait, this is about issue 20. Sorry. Um, on topic: Yeah, where is that issue 20? -
Quote:I blame Damz for this whole mess! I could have just been at work looking forward to getting home and having my CoX fix. But then he starts this thread and things are looking more and more dire! Ignorance is bliss dang it!This is just one day, imagine how we'ld be like if it actually ended!
P.S. Love ya, Damz -
Clearly, just because something is not yet flagged as an exploit does not mean it is, in fact, not an exploit. I am confident the devs did not deliberately design the game so that a player could go from 1 to 50 in six hours. So a player who found a way to do that would be exploiting a design flaw.

I still have issues with 'toon'. But I'll even use it sometimes if someone in a conversation has already used it. Wow, I can't believe I'm saying this.

Best devs in any game I have ever played, ever! I just figure that some people don't feel like themselves if they are not complaining or critisizing. Just a human nature thing.
