Quote:Not sure about ranking, but my Merc/Dark was my 1st villain and is still my go-to for unknown content.Question to all merc fans out there, what would you rank as the best secondary for a merc, and merc only?
Quote:Right now im rolling a merc/TA, its cool and all but serum is very upsetting so far, only lvl 18 so far. Serum only last a very short while then makes your pet into a statue that stands there useless cause he's drained of end. They need to make serum last longer, perma, and no crash then mercs might finally get some respect.
Quote:Im really liking the concept of merc/TA so far but the medic is isn't that great, his heals are weak and few and far between. Will things get better?
Quote:Will commando make up for the lack so far?
Quote:Also I dont stand by and do nothing and let the pets do all the fighting like some MM's do, I get in there and I have selected all 3 gun powers. Im in the fight much as my pets are constantly shooting, and I usually always have them fire all on my target. Kinda figure if they fire on my target and im helping will make this set good.
Quote:Correct me if im wrong, but do most people just stand by either healing, buffing, debuffing and ect. with their MM and not shooting and fighting with the pets? Cause im doing alot of shooting and shooting TA everywhere to.
Quote:Mercs are the most fun pet to play as so far, but starting to become the most upsetting unless commando makes up for it. So far its the medic and serum im having problems with. -
Ok so the OP got me thinking. Yes obviously SOs are just fine and I still use them in point of fact. But for the benefit of free players perhaps there could be a sticky in the guides section or perhaps just a section in the FAQ for SO-only guides. Seems to me they were deemed helpful enough back in the day.

Quote:I've done them all. Veluta is the biggest pain as noted earlier, and I had to Oro her arcs.In any case, all that leads up to some idle curiosity-
Does anyone actually remember, or go out of their way to unlock, any of the unlockable contacts? And would you want more, if they were introduced better?
(Helped a perma-noob friend unlock Veluta once. Couldn't figure out why he claimed she was impossible to beat.... then I realized he was on a Dark/Dark Cor. Veluta sends you against a LOT of ghosts which tend to resist Neg energy damage.)
By and large I like those contacts and have run most of them on more than one toon. For gangbuster another tip I have used is having my Dominator's pet out and put a civilian on follow and walk away for dinner.
As for introducing them better, I have taken a proactive approach in the past. We used to do "Lecture nights" in a couple of coalitions I was in and I would typically lead it off with an introduction to /loc, how to read it, and the locations and requirements of the contacts. Another idea I had was an AE tutorial, but I scotched that one when I found out AE missions were instance-based and couldn't take you out into the open zones. It could still be done, but I doubt I'll get around to it. -
Every time the winter event rolls around I think of how cool a Winterlord vs. Eochai fight on top of the Golden Giza would be. Just for the spectacle as there are Quartermasters on that building.

Quote:Sounds very familiar. I think I was there too.I'm pretty sure I was a part of that league, Lead broadcasted for BAF, then maybe a minute before the trial actually started, the lead changed their mind to do a Keyes trial, I stayed because I've never done a Keyes before. Going in we lost two members, and from there it just fell apart, I stayed with it until we just gave up, which was when we realized we were down to 12 players.

I only know the answer to #5. Basically they must be built with earned incarnate salvage. Although in theory with enough Vanguard merits and inf you could buy enough Gr'ai matters, downgrade them into shards (1 shard per) and convert them into threads to build your Incarnate powers.
However running Trials will be FAR more effective.
#4 I'm pretty sure most of the Alphas affect the other Incarnate branches, with the exception of Spiritual. -
Quote:I believe in the last patchnotes, Zwill said to file a support ticket.I'm not sure a support ticket will help. Beta is entirely up to the developers, it's not a regular supported product, and customer support is unlikely to have any scripts or information to help you out.
Unless you were told to submit a ticket by like Zwill or Beastyle to address some issue, I think you're better of posting about the problem in the beta discussion forums. -
Hello. Basically the issue is the I want to get into Beta and take a shot at finding undiscovered bugs. I submitted a support ticket last thursday and did receive a response saying they were looking into it. But still cannot log in to Beta.
Now, having explained the issue, I am aware that:
.I am not the only one having this issue.
.This issue has to be corrected manually.
.Beta access is a BONUS and not strictly included in my subscription.
I just am not sure what amount of time I should wait before sending a polite reminder. -
Yeah I remember that thread. My guess is that Praetoria is on the island of Cap Au Diable/Port Oakes. (Yes, these 2 zones are actually 1 island.) The general geographical shape matches. But what gave me the idea was the badge text for Urban Renewal. The area nearby reminded me of the PTS in Cap.
Now this doesn't explain why there are visible shorelines unless Praetorian Hami willed them there.. -
I would vote Kin for reasons of multiple spawns. Cold's debuffs affect the hit targets and so the debuff dies with the target. Kin's buffs affect the team and last after the 1st group of enemies are charred stains on the ground. And then into the next spawns.

What about the simple possibility of the LW being enemy action? SPOILERS AHEAD!!
I want to toss out the Battalion as a possibility. JUST did the 1st mish in the Oro into arc and read the letter again. Something odd that struck me is the LW didn't use the phrase "the coming storm". In fact the LW claimed not to specifically know the phrase used. That strikes me as odd.
The Battalion's motive would be misdirection and reducing enemy morale. Every moment you spend doubting Ouroboros and questioning it's leaders is a moment spent not fighting the coming storm. -
Good choice on the Brute. I've shown several kids CoH from ages 5-8. I too had thought that the 5 yr old needed something as simple as possible and picked out a MM for her, whereas the others got Scrappers, Blasters, and a Brute.
Turned out the MM was a mistake due to what I'm going to term the "fire and forget" factor. With the other kids, they were constantly pushing buttons for attacks while in combat and the other kids or an adult might tell them when an attack was recharged.
With the MM it was push one button and wait until target dies. She got bored and walked away pretty quickly. -

Another slight variation I have seen is Lam/Mini-BAF back to back. Ideally with all the same folks.

Quote:To expand on this point a little more, there are 2 arrows on the side of the league window. Click on those and it expands the window out to display current teams and space available. You can drag and drop people to the different teams on the league, or right click their names and move them using the drop-down menu.
Oh and happy hunting! The game Always needs more leaders! -
Thanks for all the replies! Now I have to go work up a new toon...

Since my single 50 on Virtue is supplying vouchers to my more trial-starved toons, she's getting salvage drops I want to put towards more Lore crafting. Is there a limit on how many I can have crafted at the same time? Or is it (20 branches) x (9 slots per branch) = 180?

Well after Ghost Widow, I would say Scirroco has the best story. Mako and Black Scorpion are just to blatant about their motives to provide an engaging story.
-
Doesn't the Help channel do all of that?
-
Silly question, but are you remembering vet rewards? Assuming you are, you can get the dayjob from logging out at the tailor for discounts. If there's still an inf problem then I would say head on over to the market forums and learn how easy it is to come by inf in this game.
Hope that helps. -
In the way that it specifically tells someone how to join The Pride channel. Now while I understand how this may seem a questionable rational, the need became apparent during the last Pride event. The Pride channel is also a credible draw for new customers that want the specific community that Pride provides.
And as Silas said, you certainly CAN access Pride on Vigilance or any other European or North American server. Looking forward to seeing you in the channel! -
For a more completely fair view, I suggest we also consider issues that SGs created for the game when they were more popular. If we can figure out suggestions that counter these issues it may go a way to getting the Devs to show some love for the SGs again.
Global channels also solved, in my view, one of the problems that SGs created. Many folks seemed to feel that the best way to get every member on the same page was to create conflict against another group. Now friendly consensual rivalries are one thing, but an unwarned new member getting shoddy treatment on a PUG from and "enemy" group member is quite another.
Broadcast recruitment wars would break out in starting areas and nobody won those.
In my experience with global channels, there is a greater tendency toward civility. -
But couldn't you go to test to preview? I agree it isn't ideal, but if you can install a test copy on your system, then you can port over your toon with the most merits as many times as needed to purchase and check out new costumes, auras, and emotes.

Well on the topic of Victory's population, the most technically accurate answer is that the NCsoft folks that know aren't saying anything publicly as a matter of policy.
Now if we want to speculate, however wildly or mildly, first we would have to approach agreement on what actually constitutes server population. For instance, how active must a player be in order to be counted? Is considering Victory your home server enough? As you can see, we get into slippery slopes pretty quickly from what seems a straightforward question.
As a whole, I seem to recall that subscriptions are projected to be between 100-150 thousand. (I'm certain someone will come along with more accurate data if I'm either to off or they feel like it.) If we take the lower number of 100,000 and assume every one of those folks declares a home server and weight it by Victory's tendency to be lower on the server population login list, then I would project it to be around 2000-3000. This is highly speculative and debatable, but that's my sense of it.
If the population were only 100, we would never be able to field a full BAF, and starting a Lambda would be a real chore. -
VoodooCompany is right on the money here. And in addition, let's not sell short the fact that we all seem to more or less get along pretty well. I haven't seen any open hostilities on our server in YEARS. This has value that is difficult to appreciate until we lose it. If the price of that is several global server channels, it's WELL worth it.
