And yall are going to have to explain this tea thing vs coffee.
I mean I like tea, iced, with lemon, but for caffeine, I'll take coffee
When our friends from London come to visit, we always have a coffee exchange. They actually don't drink much tea.
Dunno, maybe they're the exception? lol -
Quote:Hmmm.... I am *cough* over 40 years of age, have lived in over a dozen different cities in 4 different states on the US West Coast, and attended a half dozen different schools. I'm familiar with several racial slurs aimed at various nationalities, but I have NEVER heard "spade" used as a racial epithet.Abusive term for a black person - probably derived from the colour of the suit in playing cards.
Pretty much unused in British English but quite common in US English iirc.
Also, afaik, they refer to digging spades as shovels. So a US spade is either the card suit or a racial epithet.
In fact, I used the word just yesterday... I needed the small gardening tool to plant some basil.
Oh yes, and hubby loves to watch the Poker games, where they talk about spades all the time! -
Yeah... I have it sketched out on a little notepad... along with special keybinds, emotes and such that I want for quick reference.
I use it when searching for badges when I can't find them on my vidiotmap. The P-wiki pages will often give co-ordinates for them. -
I usually have the P-wiki up in the background when I'm playing.
One of the pages is for contacts by level. You can find the contact you're dealing with and look them up. Their P-wiki page will usually list their missions and if they are storyarcs or if they apply to badges, etc.,. -
Quote:Regardless of her motives, it has become a lifestyle choice for her.
Giving them the finger is one thing, but not even owning a chequing account would fall under the Baby-Bathwater heading, IMO. Banks don't make money on a single service, basic personal chequing account customer.
Mind you, not sure what this person's motives might have been.
We all make life choices along the way, it's what makes each of us unique. Sometimes our choices present problems that require a little creativity to solve. Criticizing someone's choices does not solve the problem.
Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions, and the clarifications on how the game cards work. -

lol
you guys are too fast for my slow fingers!
Thank you for clarifying, Ironblade, that is indeed the crux of the question.
Unfortunately, she is in another state... about 600 miles away, so I'm trying to pull the info together to send her as clearly and concisely as possible. -
This is the tricky part... can she UPGRADE to the Good vs. Evil Edition?.. or any other edition, for that matter... so as to get the extra goodies?
-
Quote:I've actually already been to the first link you listed, but thank you for the second. You might want to avail yourself of the extensive support system on the NC web site.
To your questions:
1. Game Time Cards vs. Game Account Cards
2. Payments via money order
Cash and the internet don't mix well, unfortunately. I'd encourage your friend to open a chequing account. I can understand a variety of reasons why somebody would not carry a credit card, but honestly everybody in this day an age should have a basic chequing account.
IMO.
From what I saw, the game cards will not give her Pocket D access, or the Justice costume sets. If, for the same price, she could use the card to upgrade to the GvE edition and get the extra goodies... why not?
The page for the GvE edition says that a ccard or game card can be used to activate it, but I'm wondering what the steps are so I can spell it out for her.
About the cash only business... don't even get me started! I've been 'round and 'round with her about it for YEARS. She closed all her bank accounts in a fit of rebellion about 7 years ago. She only uses cash, money orders and gift cards for almost everything now.
The loadable Visa card might work... but I thought there were restrictions on the type of transactions they could be used for? -
In a word: cash only
She does not maintain a checking account.
So, my questions remain....
can she use the CoH game cards to upgrade?
what are the steps for doing it?
and can she use money orders to pay for her subsequent monthly subscription? -
A friend wants to upgrade her 14 day trial account to the "Good vs. Evil Edition". She does not have a credit card and apparently time cards have been phased out, so that leaves her only option using a CoH Game Card.
Can she use the CoH Game Card to upgrade to the "Good vs. Evil Edition" (to get the extra goodies)? What are the steps for doing it?
Also, does she have to use a CoH Game Card for adding time to her game? That would be $20 a month instead of the $15 that I pay for my subscription. Are there other payment options besides using a Credit Card? maybe purchase order? -
In order to get the "water" look from slow fields, you need to float them above the floor. Otherwise they just look like normal slow fields.

Some of the reasons for having extra med. units in a larger room is either for aesthetics or if you have a large, busy SG. Not sure, but does the larger room also allow for more storage (i.e. inspie bins)? Again though, I really only see that as a benefit if your SG has a lot of players.

Between 7AM and 9AM Pacific Time, on July 28th, the current UBB Message Boards will be taken offline in order to transfer the data over to the vBulletin Message Boards.
This means that the UBB Message Boards will NOT be accessible during that time.
The work that needs to be done on the new boards is expected to take approximately 72 hours.

Guys, the way I read these 3 sentences is that THESE boards will be down for 2 hours, not 3 days.
The 3 days is for further work that needs to be done on the OTHER boards after the transfer.
I'm assuming that the new boards will open after the 3 day mark. Which may mean there could be a 72 hr. "info gap" between these boards & the new ones.
Not really apocalyptic in my book. -

The doors on the inside of the origin stores don't necessarily match up with the outside?
Single door on outside, double doors on inside... or visa versa
Double doors on both sides, but inside opens differently from outside. -
We have 4 cats.
One of them is white & fluffy.
She likes to swish her tail too....
But she's the smart one.
The others.... well, let's just say Loki & Pippin earned their names fair & square.
I don't burn candles in my house anymore. *sigh*
(I also have to tape certain cupboards closed, and booby trap my houseplants)
We also have a 20 yr old schnauzer... blind, deaf, heart murmer, arthritis, half toothless OLD dog. He gets himself stuck in corners fairly regularly... recently interrupted us on an ITF when he actually got his head stuck behind a large piece of furniture... oi! -
You might want to ask in the technical issues forum .
You'd be more likely to get some more focused answers there.

I can't believe that people actually see Desdemona as "chunky" or "thick". I weep for our society that considers anything more than skin and bones to be chunky or thick.

Most of todays models and stars are just way to skinny.

I seem to recall that Marilyn Monroe is reported to have been the equivalent of today's size 12 (shock & horror!).
I think Desdemona looks curvy, strong & athletic. -

I find the name choice of "Desdemona" very interesting.
Googling it brings up definitions of: ill-starred, ill-fated, misery, wretched, unlucky
The most notable character is not some greek heroine, but the loyal, devoted wife of Shakespeare's Othello. Desdemona defied her father to marry Othello. Othello eventually murdered Desdemona in a jealous rage fired by Iago's manipulations.
