Memory Issue

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.
After playing for a short period of time [anywhere between 15mins to 3hrs] available memory drops to double digits. the game then enters freezeframe mode and my task manager show that CoH is using almost the entire 2 gigs of ram.

For what ever reason, the memory is not being released.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I play the game in windowed mode with FreeRAM Pro 1.52 in my task bar to monitor my systems memory usage.
I have 2gig of RAM and running Win XP Pro.
I am using an Nvidia GTS 250 with 1024mb

I've already been doing some investigating on this issue of the memory hogging, but haven't found any solid answers yet.

There are a few memory leaks that have caused this sort of thing to happen. There were a few nasty ones associated with the Mission Creator, but I think those were all fixed. Not sure what causes any remaining ones.

Are you regularly doing a certain thing when/just before this starts happening?

I play on a RIDICULOUSLY underpowered machine, so memory issues intensely magnified when I play.

I find zoning to be the most memory intensive activity. I can play in a single zone for *hours*, but if I zone 4-5 times (especially into larger zones, like IP or Faultline), and I have to restart my client.

Of course, 384 MB Ram doesn't go as far these days as it use to....

Try playing in safe mode and see if that helps, and definitely check the technical issues forum like Kat suggested.

The memory problems shouldn't be that bad with that setup. However here are a couple things you can do to help.

Before zoning or accessing the market type /unloadgfx It will help a little bit.

Also the character select screen seems to have a memory leak so if you switch characters and take a break while at the character select screen you should probably quit to desktop instead.

Not trying to hijack the thread but you play with 384MB of memory? Holy crap! I wouldn't even THINK of playing with less than 1GB, 2GB preferred...

I started playing this game with 512 Mb, and shudder to think about my zone times back then.

The puter my daughter plays on is this exactly... might be a gig.... think. But waiting on her to load I can get a sammich, drink, run around the block (exagerating there) but you get the point. I used to use that puter back in early CoH, but my puter now has 4 gig to play with

No. He says in the OP he has 2GB. Not sure what that 384 was in reference to.

To the OP: Have you actually opened Task Manager to see *WHAT* is eating your RAM? It might not be CoH.

The 384 comment was in reference to a post that NeoNev made about the computer they play on... a few posts after the OP.
