Congratulations, You just received A Rangle Plot badge.
    O.o
    wait... wha-?
    I'm a plot? ... and a badge?!!

I'm not sure how I feel about that...
  2. I'll admit.... I drooled a little.

    .
  3. I expect the occasional QoL love to continue, though it's unclear if there is any real direction or "plan" for future development.

    .
  4. Ever since the first CoH HeroCon, I've wanted to attend one of these events.
Finally, I can say that it was everything and more than I could have ever expected.

I was absolutely delighted to meet so many folks that I've been chatting with in the game and here on the forums (and even some new-to-me folks); TJ, Red Gren, Warboss, Callie (hugs!), Fire Away, Alien Mafia, Hyperstrike, Smoff, Samuriko, Bloodspeaker, Dromen, Artphobia, Redlynne... and, and, and... omg.. too many for my poor ol' brain to keep track of. I hope we get the chance to see you all again at another event.

A HUGE thank you goes out to the attending Devs and Paragon staff, for being so approachable, accessible, and creating such a unique opportunity to interact with us. I truly believe it's that pervading attitude that makes this game and its community so unique amongst the throng of MMO's out there.

A few notes, if I may:
    • I mentioned this to one of the gals at the reg table, but I'll reiterate it here.... the badges were really hard to read. The design was pretty, but the names needed a larger space and font.
    • Game night... awesome! A great way to break the ice in a casual way that was most familiar to all of us.
    • Single track paneling... I liked it. It allowed me to pick a panel to skip if I needed to (for food or nap), without having to choose over one that I really really really wanted to attend. It also fits for the smaller size of the event. If this ever expands into a larger event, I can see multi-track paneling becoming necessary.
    • Food & Drink: I'm pretty easy about food, but Hyperstrike makes a good point.. there should be some way to make notation/exception for folks with allergies... I have a friend who is allergic to nuts, so the coconut in the rice would have been a bad thing for him. The drink tickets were much appreciated, and I hope folks remembered to tip the bartenders.
    • Karaoke. I love karaoke... when it's done well. To put it much more politely than my real feelings on the matter; I was unimpressed with the KJ.
    • I love Dinah's. Great "old school" charm, yet very well kept up. In talking to the reception folks, they are constantly looking for ways to keep up with improvements. Wonderful.
All in all, a really fantastic experience that makes me wish I could do it every time.
  5. I really enjoyed gaming night. It was a nice casual ice breaker. We started off playing a few rounds of Flux, Zombie Dice, and Guillotine with producer Ellisa "LaRainy" Barr.

Then I ended up playing "House on the Hill" (a game I'd never played before) during the last hour... imagine my own horror when I became the "traitor"... talk about deer in the headlights. Thanks to Bloodspeaker, I finally figured out what my new role was... and the other players were also thankful that my rolls suddenly took a turn for the worse... because fire bats are apparently really really really BAD.

All in all, a nice relaxed evening (though I dreamt of haunted houses that night), I do hope it becomes a "tradition" for future events.

Mea culpa... I was called upon to pitch my Polynesian/Aztec/Zulu idea, but was unprepared.... mostly because it was a really last minute thought, and I hadn't fleshed out specifics. Dark Respite also pitched for a mesoamerican/Aztec/Myan set, and even though her presentation was better than mine, it still didn't catch on.

No hurt feelings here, the Post Apocolyptic/Road Warrior theme fits in with the new Radiation Armor theme. Also, as has been pointed out, the Post-Apoc pieces will lend themselves to more flexibility in mixing with other stuff.

I do hope the Aztec/Tribal theme is re-visited in the future. Maybe someone else can pick up that mantle next time.

I see what you did there

I wonder if a new base editor/system would fall under "content".. or maybe "zones"...?

Hey, a girl can dream, right?

  10. I think Hopeling is correct.
You only need to go to the "upgrade plot" editor, pick your current plot size, then move the grid around. You don't actually need to upgrade the plot.
In other words, you don't actually move the room... you move the grid around the room.

It hasn't happened yet.... the date is next Saturday, April 28th.

Rangle and I are planning on rolling in on Thurs. night, so we'll have Friday to tootle 'round a bit. Anyone else thinkin' along those lines?
  12. Good luck with that.

(no, really and sincerely, good luck)
  13. May all your plots come to fruition.

    Happy Birthday

  14. Arrrrgggghhhh! You guys make it harder and harder each month!

All really great stuff... but to pick only three.... cruel cruelty

    2. Liz
    3. Elemental

  15. Great collaboration on that vid.
And 'gratz on the interview... hope good things come of it all.

I disagree. I do not think it should scale in this manner.
The current limits are too restrictive for even one account with several alts.
And just because there may be several accounts in an SG doesn't mean they are all using it (active).

IMO, the flat limit should simply be raised to be on par with the other storage units, and the number of allowed salvage units should increase with base plot size.

    .
  17. Right...However, there's a difference between trimming your fingernails back for necessity, and cutting them to the quick.

When it comes to base storage, the Devs have done the latter.

    Just saying.
Actually, it appeared to me that DK was asking a rhetorical question in response to Hopeling. UG answered the rhetorical question as if it was a "real" question... which led to a slight misunderstanding.
In all actuality UG was making DK's point, which I understood to be, 'Why else would they code and test something, if they didn't intend to implement it?' (rhetorical). Which Zwill has answered with, 'Indeed, it will be implemented'.

The $5 option will get someone Premium status.
It will get them the bonus token for tier 2 which will allow for SG invites (incld. membership permissions), & a few chat perks.
It will not allow them to pay rent at the registrar, since it is not VIP status.

The Starter Kit option will get someone VIP status for a month.
It will allow for all VIP perks, including interaction with the SG registrar (create base, pay rent).
However, if one does not re-sub after a month, the account will lapse to Premium Status, and their perks will again be limited (no registrar permissions).

Both options are viable; it just depends on what the goals are.
  20. Not even remotely interested in seeing this.

It looks to be soooooo far off from the original material, they should have given it a different title.

I felt the same way about "I Robot"... even though I enjoyed that movie, I felt it should have had a different title.

    Looking great!

Also, it's quite apparent that spacesuit wearers are not Statesman.
    lol
So glad I wasn't the only one who noticed...

    Looking at the pics, my responses were;
    Cool
    Cool
    Awesome bubble
    *record screech* HUH?!

  22. Quick maths:

The current large floor tile covers one "section" of a room.
It takes 64 desks to cover the same area.
There are 4 sections in a small 2x2 room.
If one wanted a complete second floor, that would be 256 desks (minus a few for access).
Seriously... 256 desks, or 4 floor tiles... for one room.
Double, if you want 2 floors in a room.

    Here's another one:
It takes 48 wall cabinets or 64 desks to fully cover one wall section (1/4 of small room).
It takes 6 pointillist pictures to cover the same area.

Even if they copied/reskinned (all 6 sides) the floor tiles and pictures to give us 3 or 4 options of each, that's only 6-8 "new" pieces being put into the editor... vs. the thousands of little items being used in entire bases right now.

Which is what these sub-forums focus on.

The Devs have consistently said that Supergroups and bases are supposed to be group content.
Yet they do things that undercut the functionality of said group content. Then they wonder why everyone is making solo SG's.
What's the design goal for the Supergroup content?

Is it a success when something meets one goal, but creates a problem elsewhere?

    .
  24. Just as a little reminder.... the personal vault is considered a storage item.

    .
  25. What Flash said.

If I recall, the base system is a modification on the old mission system/code.
    Which is old.
    And brittle.
    And scary.

    Let's keep it simple.

I can think of something that would allow builders to use fewer items to accomplish some of the more common things a lot of builders do: large floor tiles and wall panels.
