Woot, Player Summit! (Gaming night thoughts)
Just got in from a late night of work in New York...
Would have loved to have made it over there this weekend, but please say hi to everyone there!
Glad the good times are being had.

Out of curiousity as a longtime boardgame player, what boardgames were played?
I see that you mentioned Acquire, what others though?
If I had known there were going to be boardgames with the devs, I would have moved Heaven & Earth to get there.
I got to play Jungle Sweep (I think that was the name) with War Witch and... Think Tank, I think it was. (Or maybe it was Hit Streak... I can't remember.)
Then Think Tank (or Hit Streak) hosted a game of Betrayal at House on the Hill. Fantastic game (and some really good moments, too).
I later ended up playing Guillotine with Smofzilla and the Wentworths. We went three rounds before the ballroom staff finally threw all of us out.

I really enjoyed gaming night. It was a nice casual ice breaker. We started off playing a few rounds of Flux, Zombie Dice, and Guillotine with producer Ellisa "LaRainy" Barr.
Then I ended up playing "House on the Hill" (a game I'd never played before) during the last hour... imagine my own horror when I became the "traitor"... talk about deer in the headlights. Thanks to Bloodspeaker, I finally figured out what my new role was... and the other players were also thankful that my rolls suddenly took a turn for the worse... because fire bats are apparently really really really BAD.
All in all, a nice relaxed evening (though I dreamt of haunted houses that night), I do hope it becomes a "tradition" for future events.

Acquire is my favorite board game (unless Power Grid's my favorite, I go back and forth). Hope you enjoyed it Tony.

1) I was late. Sorry about that, but I had a chance to visit the Googleplex and I absolutely could not turn that down. To my hosts (you know who you are, but I'm deliberately leaving your names out so that people won't bug you about getting on the Googleplex), THANK YOU!!! It might not seem like a big deal, but it means a lot!
2) As a beginner at Acquire, I thought I did okay. If I ever play it again, now I know what to watch for, so be afraid. Be very afraid. :-]
3) It was great to see a lot of people I met last November, and a bunch I didn't. Be sure to introduce yourself tomorrow if you want to say hi and I miss you. I'll be the guy wearing a red t-shirt with the Falcons logo on the front and #2 Ryan on the back.
4) HUGE thanks to the devs and reps for hosting the festivities tonight. Top notch job, and I had a lot of fun. Thanks to Alienware for providing the sweet workstations. Also, they often get overlooked, but huge thanks to the people working the registration desk. I recognized Katie from NCsoft from last November, but not the other two. While everyone else was playing games, they sat there patiently registering people all night and printing badges. If you get a chance tomorrow, try to let them know you appreciate them working so hard. Be sure you let Katie know that you appreciate NCsoft's continued support of City of Heroes.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
