Up the total number of allowed items per base

Hello, I enjoy building useful and/or RP purpose bases when i get a certain theme idea in my head but with my latest base i believe im not gonna be able to make it a large base as one room in the base has just under 3k items in it... and it is not even the largest base room u can get so i think the allowed number of items per base should b increased from 20k to 30k or more, and im sure alot of other base builders would like that too... and with that said and talking of themes....

I decided that with the Carnival of Light pack being released it was only fair to get in on the act, so i decided to make a themed base, me and a friend created characters in order to get the prestige for the base tho it may still b a small base it sure is packed full of items for a themed Roleplay area...

There is an RP meeting happening on the union server Friday 3rd of Feb 7.30pm (GMT) at the Atlas statue in atlas park ofcourse, anyone is welcome to the grand opening of the base come dressed in formal or colourful outfits...

I decided i would show the meeting room off as i slaved over it for days trying to get it to how we wanted it be... hope u enjoy

PS.. any Devs that see this, i suggest upping the number of items per base, this one room alone is just shy of 3000 objects

It's not as simple as upping the limit. Bases start crashing when you place too many items.

the ones that crash r the ones that have endless rooms beside each other filled with items to make them cosmetically look nice.. the ones that are more spread out generally dont

No they aren't. Bases of any size can crash when thy exceed the item limit. Contributing factors are the number of animated base items used like torches, bookcases, desks, etc.

I've come across the same problem and as much as I'd love it if they could just increase the base item count limit, I think you're better off doing what I've started doing. Just start off with the bare bones needed to get the point of the theme across to others and then once that's done start making things a little more elaborate bit by bit.

Oh and OP please be aware that no one so far has said that they don't wish we could place more items. It's just that it's a lot more complicated than simply raising the numerical limit.

yea i know its more complicated, but looking at huge zones etc with all its detail and animated people and cars... surely they could up the bases

Bases aren't like zones - they have to have additional code so players can edit them. The added complication of the way they work means they can't have as much detail as zones.

What Flash said.

If I recall, the base system is a modification on the old mission system/code.
Which is old.
And brittle.
And scary.

Let's keep it simple.

I can think of something that would allow builders to use fewer items to accomplish some of the more common things a lot of builders do: large floor tiles and wall panels.

I've been suggesting this for years. Take the large white floor tile next to the safe and reskin it with a few tops and bottoms that match the base floors and ceilings.

That alone would eliminate the need to place hundreds if not thousands of items to make floors for extra levels in rooms.

Quick maths:

The current large floor tile covers one "section" of a room.
It takes 64 desks to cover the same area.
There are 4 sections in a small 2x2 room.
If one wanted a complete second floor, that would be 256 desks (minus a few for access).
Seriously... 256 desks, or 4 floor tiles... for one room.
Double, if you want 2 floors in a room.

Here's another one:
It takes 48 wall cabinets or 64 desks to fully cover one wall section (1/4 of small room).
It takes 6 pointillist pictures to cover the same area.

Even if they copied/reskinned (all 6 sides) the floor tiles and pictures to give us 3 or 4 options of each, that's only 6-8 "new" pieces being put into the editor... vs. the thousands of little items being used in entire bases right now.

And that's just using standard desks. I've seen people use even smaller items. (like the little coffee table or the small triangular tables) to make floors.
