I'm not usually big on PLing my toons, I like being a slowpoke.
BUT... I did decide to brush off the dust on a couple and give them a little luvin'
So, with the help of a few friends (and hubby), I took my fire scrapper from 34 to 37, and my Dk/Dk/Def from 19 to 26.
Thanks guys.
Now I gotta go IO shopping.

Quote:Right... but....There actually is a "shopping list" feature... look under Window -> Recipe Viewer. It brings up a list of all your powers and the enhancements you slotted in them. It even shows a list of the salvage needed, the buying cost (crafting table cost for common IO recipes, and I would assume the vendor cost for DOs/SOs), and the crafting costs. You can see this for the whole build at once, or you can check just the powers you want to see that info for. You can then copy what you selected to an ingame helper window, or to the clipboard for pasting into a text file.
Quote:Unfortunately it doesn't allow you to check or uncheck just one slot at a time, it only works per power. It also doesn't retain check status if the file is closed... so you'd have to keep the file open the whole time if you want to track progress solely by that method.
While Rangle's idea of some kind of highlight function would be a great visual, I'm more of a list person. I'm not really crazy about the way the current "build list" works. I like my lists simple.
The current "build list" divided out by power is... tedious for shopping purposes. A simpler list would lay out the enhancements alphabetically, with a check box next to each. If I need 3 health enchancies, there would be 3 listings for health with a check box next to each of them. A descriptive line of salvage needed would be bonus, or maybe even an alternate list for salvage shopping... dunno... just tossing ideas 'round.
Creating this function in a small popup window that you could optionally give "on top" status would be very useful while in game.
Saving the changing status of the list with the build would be key.
Oh lordy, you do not want to see what Rangle's desk looks like! lol -
Why?
Considering the OPs attitude:

Quote:I might as well rerun my old list of what's wrong with Penny's costume:
1. The face clutter. There's just too much going on there. Pick either metal cheeks OR metal eyebrows OR NFL face paint, but not all three. One is a detail, all three makes her look like she dunked her head in a bucket of spare parts. It loses all sense of style and becomes too busy for what it's worth.
2. The colour scheme. It's chaotic and disorderly. She has a top that has a black primary and a red secondary colour with white as a detail colour and a bottom with a red primary and a white secondary with white AND black as detail colours. It's a mess, and it makes it confusing to take in.
3. The business. Penny has so many buckles and straps and zippers and belts and metal ribs following so many body lines that her costume is simply confusing to look at. A good costume uses our mind's ability to parse visual information and gives us a look that says more than the picture itself. Penny's costume is so busy that all I see is a miasma of lines, shapes and colours that I cannot reproduce off memory on pain of death.
4. The thigh-high high-heel boots complete with decorative panties. That's just trashy, and I don't buy the excuse that Penny's just being rebellious. This is the costume of a superhero woman as drawn by a man who's never had to walk around dressed like that. It takes refuge in tights superheroes in order to show us a fetishied look that really doesn't belong on Penelope Yin. I'm sorry, David, but it is. We need more super women wearing sensible shoes, please.
5. The lack of identity. Quick! Describe Penelope Yin's costume in a single sentence! Did you manage to get out more than "It's red white and black?" Because that's the extent of its identity - it has these colours and it kind of has shapes on it. But there's nothing about Penny that stands out by which she can be remembered, aside from "she has a belly button, wish I could have one." There's nothing iconic about it, and there really should be SOMETHING.
Penny needs a new costume, and preferably a much simpler one. Her current look is a victim of its own enthusiasm - it's so over-designed and overly complicated that it fails at being memorable and interesting. It trades visual appeal for bare complexity, and in the process of doing so trades artistry for raw graphics. And that's never a good trade.
Well said!
And so short. -
ch 53: Full Moon? only explanation that I can think of to run a Quaterfield when everyone is feeling snippy. lol
ch 54: dun dun duuuuuuunnnn
ch 55: I know Silver Spyder is supposed to be the "bad sister"... but... I just can't help it... I like her... a lot. -
Quote:This is a klutzy workaround IMO.So.... Go back into Mids once you have your "real" build. Open the "Planned build" rename it "Real Hero XYZ" and modify that to what you actually made. Save it. No need to print it out, and Mids will save that for you forever. .... Mids will be your notebook, just keep multiple copies.
I would love to have a "shopping list" that I can alt-tab between while I'm in game. In game, I'd be able to check my live build, alt-tab to my Mids shopping list and check off the things I already have... or highlight the slots in the build... whatever. As I build my live character, I can keep that Mids list easily updated; or, in the case of highlighting, it would be a very quick visual reference. Even if I'm offline, it would be a useful tool to plan out my next shopping spree in game. -
Gotcha.
Okay, my brain obviously took a left turn at Albuquerque...
You are looking for some kind of "check off" function. Does it need to be a visual highlight? or could it possibly be a separate popup/window with a "shopping list" of all needed enhancements for a build, with little boxes that you could literally check off?

Quote:I think I know where the misunderstanding stems from, dear....I think you're misunderstanding my question. I'm not looking for Mids to track what I have, or don't have across all my characters. I'm looking for a way to flag IOs/Enhancements on ONE build so that I know what I've already slotted on the ONE character. That's all. Nothing beyond that.
Quote:...something to denote that I don't need to purchase it, or to find it amongst my other toons inventories.
In other words, when looking at the IO options in the popup for a powerset... something to tell you you've already slotted the max allowable for certain items.
And yes, I would definitely find such a feature quite useful. -
Storage restrictions: My pet peeve since i13
Sorry, you'll just have to mule 'em... ain't that a boatload of FU-N!

Da'Frick did I just read? Quote:The document below was obtained by a Portal Corps researcher, from Dimension PQ53-874a
Quote:The one thing I think should be done is to divorce bases for PVP and raid from the current bases entirely. ..
Bases for raiding PVP should basically be a predefined map. You get a set of maps to choose from, you can customize them a bit (place defenses) and then you're good to go. No messing around lots of fiddly details that in the end don't matter.
I always thought the hard-wiring of bases to PVP was... F--wonky.
Quote:Considering that I've "cornered" Dark Watcher (and other programmers) for conversations on the topic of a completely revamped (and thus, supportable!) base editor at the last two Player Summits ... and will be again at the next one I attend ... I'd like to think that such speculation is not exactly idle. After all ... anything the Devs can build now for Base Editing has a very obvious application in being able to do Map Editing for Mission Architect *AND* could potentially be used as a tool to expand the available list of Indoor Maps used for regular missions (see SSA 1.5 for an example of this already in action).

errrrmmmm.... not quite.... more like... traded it in for a different style -
Sorry if I came off snarky, Eldorado. It's a sore spot.
It's so frustrating to have been a cheerleader for bases for so long, only to basically watch the audience wander off to better shineys.
So I've put up my pom poms.
. -
It's definitely a feature that's been asked for in the past... please see my sig for a link to the BIG list of wishes for bases.
But I ain't holdin' my breath... see Forbin's quote.

The latest Rangle plot to tempt TJ onto a team... or at least into visiting 'Vegas
There are FOUR looooonnng pieces of bacon inside that thing... -
Quote:Oh! Hang on....I'm kind of curious now as to where the majority of players would be if there were a poll.
Yep... There WAS a poll
And the poll was instigated after I posed the question in a previous thread.
I know, I know... old threads are old...
But here's the thing... considering the lack of dev response we got a year and a half ago, what makes you think anything has changed?
Especially since I keep repeating what I was told at the Player Summit a mere 5 months ago... NO NEW developments for bases in the near future... Occasional QOL improvements are the best we can expect.
I hate repeating myself.

Happy Birthday, Warboss!
Hope the show was up to standards. =) -
and dogs howling (I'm including the neighbor's dogs)

Quote:Now think back to that long, long (longlonglong) ago day....
My father informs me that he is not a day over 49, and he was 20 when I was born. My mother staunchly supports his position on this matter. I was taught to honor my parents, so I don't argue with them. It's called delusionary age enablement. I'm okay with that.
TJ, WB & Callie, thank you for the kind wishes. *shares cream cheese cherry wontons* -
Do the contestants still have access to their bases? I'd love to see them first hand in game, as I still have difficulty watching the vids... dunno what it is about them but I get motion sickness, lol.

Ah... looks like I only took a few from the interior. Still, might give you some ideas:
Sorry for the gargantuan pics -
I saw a castle base some time ago that was done very well...
They used one room to establish the "exterior" of their castle. In this case they used the light golden desks for walls. You could go into the castle, and wander the rooms and balconies.
There was one special hallway that then led you to the true interior (the rest of the base).
The interior was done in a variety of matierials to look like marbles, glass, curtains and hardwoods. It was bright and luxuriant.
I can't for the life of me remember whose base it was, but I took some screenies... I'll see if I can dig them up. -
I would love to purchase the facepalm emote on the Paragon Market.
since I am not ever ever ever going to join the FBorg -
So far, I like the feel for this. The gritty look is appropriate for the theme.
Not super crazy 'bout the golf club bag.
But definitely looking forward to seeing what else is in the works. -
You mean the in game channel that I mentioned in the post right above yours?
-
You might want to consider joining the global channel BaseBuildersInc. (with the period) for help while you are in game. It might seem quiet, or sometimes just a bunch of goofballs, but I've noticed that most will jump to help if someone comes in with questions.
btw, to see chat while you are in edit mode, you just need to hit "c" to bring up the chat windows.
What server/side are you building on? and how much prestige do you have to play with? Do you have a theme in mind? Do you want to go hog wild with decor? or are you looking for basic functionality?
Personally, unless you are planning on powering up the larger craftable items (which usually have requirements that need to be met in SG mode), I find the secure plots to be... overrated compared to their same sized Hidden plot counterparts. You can always upgrade later if you really need to.
jus' mah 2 cents.
feel free to pm me here, or @Bo'Tanika in game, I have builder assistant toons on almost every server -
Neigh! say it isn't so!
Ah well, I understand the need to explore other pastures. Hopefully we'll see ya at ye ol' watering trough every once in a while.
Peace
