Base editor copy feature

I've just built a wall of about 130 bookcases in our SG base. Wow! Tedious & time consuming for sure!

How about a copy item feature in the editor?

For example, place a bookcase. Click it, hold, say, ctrl+shift then drag and the item is copied over a vertical plane. Instant wall. Need a door? just delete one or two and place door trim items etc. Done!

Place a desk. Raise it to the height you want it. Click it, hold, maybe, ctrl+alt and drag, it fills a horizontal plane with desks. Instant floor.

It would save hours of tired eyes and tedium!

Unfortuantely we won't be getting anything added to bases anytime in the near future.

Why?

1. According to the developers the base code is an unholy monstrosity and any attempts to change it tend to end up breaking stuff (like base defenses being hostile to you a few issues back).

2. The developer that created the base code failed to document what he was doing, and he no longer works for NCSoft.

This has left the devs unwilling to do anything at all to bases except the least amount possible to maintain the feature as it is.

None of the players are happy about this.

It's definitely a feature that's been asked for in the past... please see my sig for a link to the BIG list of wishes for bases.

But I ain't holdin' my breath... see Forbin's quote.

Wow, that sucks. I still like the idea to keep the base ASIS to not break code, and create a new improved system on the side (with new base portal entrances chooseable by the SG)

You have no idea how much I'm hoping that they've decided to work on a new system and keeping it under a tight wall of silence to surprise us rather than they've completely given up on doing anything and refuse to admit it.

Gotta love when that happens.

Best thread encapsulating the situation ever.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom (or freem?) fighter; just as one man's exploit is another man's feature.
