    This...

To the OP. It seems like your mad that they delivered the choices they promised in the I18 Going Rogue content, but that they didn't deliver more of the same game play in I21, that they never promised or even said would be in I21.

The Devs never said Choice and moral arcs would be a part of all future content... I love the First Ward Arcs, I think they are brilliant, they don't need choice, choice was never advertised and so why would you be upset it wasn't delivered?

Yeah but im pretty sure Microsoft is getting sued over that choice, a class action lawsuit or something like that.

Though to be fair, many of the larger items on the market are sold in 400 point increments... 400, 800, 1200, 1600 etc... It's only when sales happen that this really changes... Sure a lot of the smaller items aren't 400 points or what ever, but enhancement inventory increase is 1600, new power sets are 800, new costume slots are 800 etc..

So as long as you do the math of 400 PP= 500$ it's very easy to see, hey this cost 5, this costs 10 etc.

And they sell points in 5, 15, 50 and 100 dollar increments, which means it's not that hard to get the amount you need. two 5 dollar purchases get you 10, 15 and 5 gets you 20 etc. All in all, I think this point system is quite a bit more friendly than Microsoft points or some of the others I've seen out there.

I'd love to see the ability to delete options we don't want (Sprint powers, non combat pets etc) Or mark them as read and throw them in a different folder, and the ability for claim all to skip the level 50 parts when you're not level 50, instead of just not working.

Because the Archer Season typically starts in January, and they are doing a special mid summer mini series.

Archer runs for about 10 episodes each winter (or has the last 2 seasons) I think this is just sort of a special arc, the next full season will be january.
  5. I feel like the whole store thing has a lot of links to it, which I don't like. It's one of the main problems I had with a couple other F2P games, every time I open a new screen I've got the "spend money on this" button showing up in my face. This isn't as bad as some of the other games, but honestly I think a link in the in game menu, one that's an optional part of the UI, and one in the char select screen should be enough. I don't need one in the costume select screen, in the costume creator, the crafting screen or anywhere else for that matter.

Just kinda ruins it for me when I feel like every screen is trying to get more money out of me.

Honestly I think all of the inventory increases, including extra costume slots, are way over priced. I've written threads about this, but in those threads no one really seemed to agree with me, then I see other people voicing the same opinion I've been trying to voice since the very beginning of closed beta. I'm a little frustrated.

Honestly, the option to increase inventory size of any sort, should not, In my opinion, be of the same price range as Content like missions, power sets, the alignment system etc.

Yes, buying the ability to hold 10 more lousy enhancements at a time, is some how more costly than the alignment system....

I'm quite a bit under whelmed by Freedom. I21 is great really, but The whole store... Is under whelming. They have some cool new stuff, but so much of it is priced so high I can't justify buying it. So I guess I'm waiting for sales or price reductions, which is a shame because I honestly want to spend money with Paragon Studios, I just want more value for it.

Ghost Widow and Black Scorpion - Both have very unique, and Dark\Sinister designs that really pop, and match their themes perfectly.

Romulus- Again, it goes with his theme perfectly, the design pops, it has all the details for an Evil Roman Warlord in place.

Marauder - Lots of cool details, very unique, has a sort of Mad Max meets Super Heroes kind of look to him.

    ****SPOILERS*****

So I agreed with everything you said in your post, but this part I particularly agreed with. I was really impressed with how they made everything look futuristic, but with the 50s aesthetic and idea of the future.

I liked this movie a lot, as did my GF who is slowly becoming a bigger comic book nerd.

Good plot, good pace, really thought they got the intro story of Captain America, who he is, why he was chosen, all of that was done very well. Chris Evans in his 4th comic book movie managed to do a character that was different than Jensen or Johnny Storm, and he was very good for the role I thought.

The action was good, but I felt, ironically enough, that for an action movie, some of the action scenes were a little rushed. But I was okay with that, I'm happy with them rushing the action to tell a little more story.

I also really liked the Captain America being used a propaganda machine bit, him on stage in tights for the shows, since that's part of the character's history, being a sort of propaganda comic in the early days. (And that's not a slam in anyway.)

the love interest was good, never seen Haley Atwell in a movie before but she was solid and gorgeous, very believable.

Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving are almost always good and they did very well here. I loved some of the nods to the rest of the Marvel Verse and Howard Stark had more of a presence in the movie than I would have guessed, I was happy to see it, and though I liked the character, I'm not sure the actor was right, he just seemed out of place in that role for some reason. (my GF said the same thing right after the movie before I had a chance to mention it.)

And then after the credits was a great bonus scene.... I was wondering what the bonus scene would be, how it'd tie off and lead into the upcoming Avengers movie, and they did it very.... very well... I'm so excited for the Avengers movie next summer, my theater already has a poster up for it....

    Some Assembly Required.... I'm Pumped!

So the costume looked a little weird. Is that a fan made trailer? Is there a trailer or news for the real one yet? I didn't know they were making another live action one
  12. I have a lot of weapons characters

Claws Stalker, Katana Stalker. Broad Sword Scrapper, Ax Brute, Dual Blades Scrapper. technically I have a Mace Tank that I don't really play, she was a sort of joke\ for fun character. I don't do much with her. I also have a pistols blaster and an Assault Rifle blaster but they really aren't relevant to a Titan Weapons set...

I'm not going to re-roll any of my weapons characters.. They were all designed with the specific weapons they have, in mind.

I will be making a new character to use Titan weapons as well as take more direct advantage of the animal pack I bought. A nice big Tiger with any sort of Titan Axe, hopefully a big two handed, dual bladed battle ax.

He might alternate to a giant sword for other costumes, but we shall see when the weapons are revealed etc.

To anyone who might express this concern. Trials are not core game play. They are end game content, and what ever unique or new elements of game play might be added in trials, aren't being shoe-horned across the board in the rest of the game.

So core game play is not changing. Some end game content is different than core game play, that's all.

Kind of have to agree here. He wasn't as front and center, but he was pulling strings, working the plan and if he wasn't injured, Sentinal Prime wouldn't have been able to cheap shot him at the end... I never saw him as a lackey in this movie ,just not at his full strength.

Or Unicron.. Or do a version of Scourge like from RID, Evil alternate Optimus Prime....

Honestly, I want Hasbro to make more, I want them to get some one besides Bay to do these movies. I never liked the look of the Transformers from these movies, they didn't looked that distinct, just like giant walking parts, the decepticons were all confused and not handled well. (Calling the Tank Devastator in the first movie then bringing in the real devastator later. where are the other jets, why do the decepticons have no colors at all etc?)

In general, I liked these movies well enough, if only because they were Transformers, and they've proven movies like this will work. But they could have been much, much, much better in a lot of ways. IMO Bay really only got glimpses of the heart of Transformers in these flicks, and only bits and pieces of the true spectacle these movies could have been.
  17. I just got back myself, I agree with pretty much everything that's been said so far.

    ***SPOILERS***

So I didn't think Malkovich or Ken Jeong did much to add to the story. The cameo from the parents wasn't really needed. In fact the front end of the movie felt a little bloated. I think typical Bay where he lets his "comic relief' get too much screen time and be a little too crazy...

That said, the second half of the movie more than made up for all of it.

Lots of autobot action, loved the Ferrari, was said to see Arcee, Chromia and the other missing.

I loved Leonard Nimoy as Sentinal Prime, though about 3 minutes after he started speaking I was like, "Well ****, they cast Leonard Nimoy for him, that wasn't on accident, he's going to be a bad guy isn't he?"

Same realization just before Sam and his girly got into Shockwave in car form leaving the party, I thought that car reeked of energon the moment I saw it.

Over all, a lot of fun, my GF really enjoyed it too. Great action sequences, not too much blatant potty humor. And really the fall of Chicago to the Decepticons is I think what a lot of people have been wanting to see from these movies, true Transformer on human Carnage. Really my favorite piece of the first two films was the opening scene with Blackout obliterating the military base, since it just seemed like it was the purest execution of "what if these things were real."

The scene of Chicago being obliterated really captured that feeling. And all the Transformer on Transformer fights were done very, very well. Sam even got a kill on Star scream.

Some things didn't make sense, Bumblebee rescues same and the Colonel then the next time we see him he's a captive. But eh, it happens. Not crazy about optimus being out of the fight because he got tangled in wires, but again no biggy, it worked well enough

The 3D was good, used but not over used, not understated and it was gorgeous, looked very nice.

The only major complaint I had was Optimus nearly begging Sentinal Prime for his life when he lost his arm. The "no, please, don't" just wasn't him. Then he turns around and executes a downed Sentinal Prime, that's just not Optimus. Same thing when he executed the injured decepticon in the beginning of the second film. Optimus Prime is not an executioner, he'd have a robot captured, maybe suck the energon out and put it into sleep mode, but he shouldn't be standing over some one putting a shot in the head like a mob style hitman.

Other than that, fantastic flick ,lots of fun, lot more focus on robot carnage, and pretty gritty and dark in places without feeling too forced about it.

    I'll see it again.

This is why the movie was weak. It asked the audience to make too many assumptions. It left too many gaps to be filled. When you're thinking " ohh well it probably did X" Then guess what, the movie didn't tell you the story, the movie let you fill in the gaps. That's bad movie making. Especially to people who haven't read the comics and don't know all the abilities of the ring. Like my Girlfriend who sat their next to me and was completely unimpressed by the movie. Sure she could "guess" at what was going on, but if you're guessing, then they did a bad job telling you the story they were trying to tell.

    Quote:
What did you think happened if not an alert from the ring? Did you really picture Kilowog saying "Yo dawgs. Let's go randomly hang out around Earth and see what Hal is doing."? Obviously something alerted them that Parallax was on Earth and that's why they showed up so soon after Hal started fighting.
See once more you're saying he should know what the movie didn't tell him. The movie didn't explain why the Green Lanterns showed up, it left the audience to guess, or wonder, or assume... That's not a good movie. It's like at the end, Paralax is defeated, the day is saved, no further threat and Sinestro puts on the yellow ring... Now I could guess why, but that's not the movie telling me why....

You're argument is that the movie was fine despite the fact it left stuff out. Like a book would be fine if some pages were blank and the reader was left to guess what happened on them.

    Quote:
See what I mean when I say you don't pay attention? This is why I tell people to not bother arguing with you.
This is the truly silly part of your argument. The movie leaves stuff out, simply doesn't explain them ,and even in your explanations for these things you use qualifiers like "assume" and "probably" and "guess" and then tell some one they weren't paying attention.

Look if you don't feel the movie was weekend for lack of explanations for things, that's one thing, but telling some one they didn't pay attention because they didn't make leaps about missing info in the movie, is another.

    Again:

    It

    wasn't

    in

    the

    Movie.

They didn't show the ring leading him to the base, they showed a couple beeps, which said nothing and then showed him kicking in the door to the base.

They didn't show the ring giving a distress call, say it gave a distress call or even say rings could track other rings. I know they can because I read the comics, I can assume that was what happened, but the movie didn't say that's what happened, they didn't include the explanation in the story and that's on the movie makers for leaving it out, not on others for assuming their way through a movie.

Honestly this movie was bland, and rather weak. The constructs were weird, a car and a race track, seriously, that's the best way to stop the helicopter instead of a giant mattress or something? And if the car could just slam on the breaks, why not have it slam on the breaks in the first place before it went on the race track for too long?

Also the whole crystalline aestetic and glowy bits really didn't add anything to it imo.

Renolds and Lively weren't really right for the roles.

The Badguy was the typical pissed off nerd with daddy issues and wanting the hero's girl, very cliche' and uninspired.

The narrative was all over the place, throwing in his family and memories of his dad as flavor, but never resolved the issues. Kept sort of bouncing back and forth between him being a collossal screw up and his weird relationship with Carol then to the OA stuff and back.

Honestly, there was just nothing good about it. Sure some of the visuals were pretty, but the only part I enjoyed was the "training" scene with Sinestro, the fight was pretty cool though it seemed so hollow and just didn't feel right.

Green Lantern could be a much better movie, I hope they take a few years and go for a remake or reboot...

Let me say this, as my own persona add-on to what Arcanaville is saying..

The Dev's took time out of their day on a saturday to bring in a couple dozen players and get our feedback. And when I say took some time, I mean a whole saturday. Fed us, gave us breaks and most of us were there for most of the day.

It wasn't just a couple either. People from marketing, design , production, and the community relations team were there, getting feedback on a lot of the stuff coming in CoH:Freedom. They took notes, they listened to what we said, they responded to feedback they spent a day picking our brains. Not just old hands either, they had a nice cross section of players, older, newer etc. A few times when one of us said we had concerns about an option or a proposed idea, they immediately started throwing other options or variations of the idea at us to see if something else would be better.

They took it very seriously, and I wasn't thrilled about the idea of F2P to start, but I left thinking that they had a great handle on it, and that these people are dedicated to this game, they love it, they are passionate about it and they very much want to keep their fans. Conversations I had with a number of them told me that, not because they said it, but because everything they said pointed to it.

Yes, there will be some people that will always be unhappy. But honestly I think if people keep an open mind to what's coming they will see this could be a great thing for the game and a lot of cool stuff could be coming our way.

    Thoughts?
Well I can't speak to the physical NDA they had people signing for testing I20. They may have previewed this then. But there was a separate group of us who were asked to go to Paragon Studios for a focus group test of Freedom, a little over a month ago or so. We also had to sign a physical NDA...

I won't get into anything specific since I'm not sure what I'm legally allowed to discuss or not, but I will say this. Having seen a lot of stuff that day I was completely impressed by a few things.

1.) I'm very excited for this new model. When they mentioned City of Heroes going F2P my heart sank but it didn't take them long to change my mind. They really have a handle on this and I'm psyched for it.

2.) These guys love this game, they care about this game and this community deeply, I was very impressed by how much they cared about the feedback of the people they had in the room, and how much they wanted to make this work.

So yeah, that part I think referred to the focus test, they took it seriously, so did we and I really think that this is going to be a big step in the right direction for CoH. They aren't just trying to grab money, they want to make the game better for more people and I think they are going to do so.

There is a version of the first two movies out there which is called the "Donner Original Edition" or something like that. Essentially Films 1 and 2 were meant to be one big film. Personally I thought it was a damn good movie but very different from the movies that were released.

Say what you will about those movies, but Christopher Reeve owned that role. I mean he fit the bill of Superman in such an iconic fashion that his version of Superman is the one all other actors will be compared to. I wouldn't be surprised if it's part of the reason other Superman movies have had a hard time being made because it's hard to compare to Reeve.

As for the PB WS. Yeah I struggled a bit with the HEATs, the VEATs too a bit but not as bad. My PB was really hard, especially on end management early on. It wasn't until the 40s that I really started getting a handle on her and enjoying playing her. Now she's one of my 7 incarnates, fun toon but I stick to human form mostly. She has a Nova\Dwarf form build but I don't use it as much.

my WS.... I know some people love the WS's and maybe I need some help figuring out how to optimize him but man I can't figure out why people love them so much. I love the look of the powers, but play wise I just didn't enjoy him as much as others. Unlike my PB I pretty much only do Dwarf\Nova form with him.

    http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/new..._pictures.html

Not much to it, other than a small news paper article but I find that strange. Someone just posted this on the site, no explination, no discussion. Are people using litter emotes too much in GC? Then there is the article next to it, Meteors... It's cut off, but the article mentions near earth meteors....

Is the coming storm a meteor storm? And does it have anything to do with keeping Galaxy City clean? or is that some red herring?
