  3. I'd be more psyched about this, but I honestly couldn't tell how this was a "reboot" or "relaunch" of anything. (Yes I mentioned this in another thread.)

I read GL #1, Batman #1, Superman #1 and Wonder Woman #1. They all seemed to be carrying on the same stories and characters of the other comics. In GL There were references to the war of light, Sinestros Lantern corps was still running amok. What's-her-face referenced being one of the Star Sapphires.

In Superman they make it sounds like he already has years and years of experience being superman and working at the daily planet, Lois is past the point of being a simple reporter anymore.

In Batman, We're on Damien Wayne as Robin with NightWing and Red Robin already trained and in the picture.

Wonder Woman - Still has referenced being fairly well known as Wonder Woman, but they didn't outright reference past stories (yet) so it's the one that came closest and still didn't feel new.

Honestly, I don't get the relaunch, it seems like DC said, "We need sales to go up, how can we do it? Ohh, let's continue the same comics and stories we have now, but put a #1 on the cover and people will buy it!"

Maybe I'm missing something, but to me it seems like just a change of number to get people to spend.

Lois and Clark: Get married? Sorry, last season.

    Northern Exposure: Joel and Maggie

    Get Smart: Max and 99

Now admittedly most of these cases were due to the writing becoming so terrible in that final season but that's not how the networks are going to see it. For the executives correlation does equal causation. Create a happy couple and lose the relationship tension and the show will fail.

But in some ways they have a point. The couple getting together and their lives becoming better pretty much equals the "Happy Ending". The key word there being ending. And the shows after that point just wind up feeling like filler and money grubbing.
Yeah but pretty much all of those could be said that once the characters got together, the writers sucked at creating new challenges for the characters to face as a couple, without reverting back to the whole "ohh she\he may not love me or wants to leave me or I'm jealous of that new person in their lives" thing.

When writers learn how to write a couple getting together and keep them together, while still making new stories that work for a couple, then shows will stop having ratings fall after the coupling.

Jim and Pam from the office. They got married like 2-3 seasons ago, the show is still going because the writers can write them as a married couple, not just the drama of courting.

Your argument is a contradiction. If Generation X refused to grow up and put away their childish things, then comics would not have become ambiguous, gritty, features married characters and middle ages etc, they would have stayed the same childish books. By changing them, the comics became less childish and more adult in nature and so Generation X did put away their childhood, they just demanded the medium's story telling grow up with them rather than staying stagnant.

But that's not just Generation X, that's society as a whole growing to have different, often times more mature, complex and realistic story telling, in all mediums (except arguably books that have had these things in them for ages.)

Look at 1950s sitcoms VS todays sitcoms. Even the relatively tame ones are so much more complicated and racey than Leave it to Beaver of Bewitched ever was.

Look at 1960s Batman Vs 1990s, Batman the Animated series, which was way deeper, more complex and more believable. It didn't need to constantly be gritty and dark etc, it was still meant for kids but it had much more mature story telling.

Look at Bond movies from the 60s to the bond movies of today. Even before the reboot they got more complicated, more gritty etc.

Anything on TV, or in the movies, or in popular media, is largely more adult, complex and "dark" or "realistic" now than it was then, it's just how the media in this country has changed. Comics changed right along with it and no reason they shouldn't have, they would have become obsolete as society's tastes around them changed.

It might be working for them, but I read the #1s of Green Lantern, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, and none of them felt like a reboot. They all felt like continuations of the same stories with a #1 printed on the book.

In Batman, Grayson is there and referenced as Nightwing. In Green Lantern, Susan references her time with the Star Saphires as having happened, not to mention Sinestro running into his old yellow lantern buddies.

Superman just plain references a significant past period with Lois and the Daily planet like he has been there for years saving the day.

Wonder Woman, I guess that could be a reboot except everyone seems to know who she is, and when the character is already a famous hero it makes it seem less like a new story, and judging how none of the others I read were actually rebooted, I just don't think she is either.

He has Iron Man listed, but he showed up in an after credits scene to be a part of it.

*goes an turns on Snakes on a Plane* What?! I own it! And I like it! ^_^
True, but I see that as a testament to the man's work ethic and willingness to take on roles for fun or for the work, not just because he becomes the star. You don't often see Tom Cruise or Dicaprio in small roles in movies, their egos seem to get in the way of that, they have to have the lead or be part of a big ensemble maybe, but they won't take small roles.

However Jackson takes on small roles and does work all over the place, including voicing in video games, and because he works so much, big roles and non, leads and non, he gets the title. More actors could stand to be so versatile and take on smaller roles just for variety and flavor.

7 movies next year, and he's doing live theatre, the man does a lot of work, I gotta respect that.

She liked you as a nerd. She liked you as a super spy. She likes you now. We get it, she was out of your league. You've won her over. And now the show is doing the same thing with him in general. Strip him of his powers, money, etc. Make him insecure again, cause Chuck can't be happy and confident. People won't like that!

    Hint: yes we will.
Yeah, I'm a bit annoyed that they stripped him of the intersect again. that's what, 3 times? 2 in the last season alone. Then they say the glasses can't be repaired, but what about dad's laptop, or all the research or the fact that Chuck apparently has insane computer knowledge and his sister understood everything in the intersect, the two can't put a new power cell in the glasses and make them go again?

I love Chuck, it's my favorite show on TV right now, but so far not impressed with how Season 4 ended and S5 is beginning. I liked season 4 well enough, Volkoff was cool, the daughter thing wasn't great but not horrible...

I keep hoping it'll go for another season, but not unless the writers get back to how it used to be. Making Morgan the intersect, just doesn't work.
  9. I think if they were going to do that, they'd have just made a Titans weapon pack instead of a whole new powerset...

Honestly that sword is way to big to be conceivably used like a Katana, I think Titan weapon models will be exclusive to their powerset, they just won't fit other combat styles.

The Devs have stated several times that in order to keep the game interesting for everyone and to keep things working in the intended manner that they have to keep a certain Risk\Reward ratio, or time\reward ratio, and that farming is an aberrant play style that skews those ratios in a way that is not intended for the game

In other words farming is an exploit and the Devs have taken steps to minimize it's presence in the game because, like it or not, it does affect the community when certain people play an aberrant play style and can get greater rewards for it and start flooding the market with extra cash drops etc.

Just because you pay a subscription doesn't mean you can do what you want. Your subscription gets you permission to play the game the Devs male by the rules chosen by Paragon Studios and NCSoft in what they think is the best for their product... Paying a subscription doesn't mean you can grief, hack, cheat, exploit or just run amok, their are rules, you agree to them every time you sign in, and in this game they don't like farming.

If you wanna farm their are games that encourage it, like Farmville.

Not really since Maelstrom is one size and has specific measurements where player characters can be a variety of sizes and measurements that can mess with animations like drawing pistols from a holster.

Honestly though, I think any Scabbards would be nice, a static scabbard would be fine...

And I'm not sure what other people are noticing in this arc, but I'd like to know!

Every film could use some of her hotness.

    Fingers crossed
If Loki's the big bad I'd be surprised if only because he wasn't the strongest Villain in Thor, he was more a manipulator than a warrior, which isn't going to be great against a whole team of Super Heroes. But also for a movie that took 5 other movies to build into, and 4 major heroes and 2-3 confirmed minor heroes, I just don't think they are going to put one big bad. They'd need more villains and I don't see other Villains bowing to Loki the manipulator.

Plus if he's the big bad, I don't think he ends up in cuffs being escorted through the Avengers Headquarters so calmly. I think Loki will be one of several Big bads, maybe working as a team, maybe against each other and the Avengers... Maybe he will be the big bad with some weird army, but I don't see that.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe this character will be an awesome big bad but I really think there is more they just haven't shown yet...

Claudia wasn't there til season 2 either though. It's his first season they don't always get put up right away.

Leena never appeared on that walkway and it's her third season.
  19. Michael Bincolo, the new Signature Arc Contact in Talos, is sporting a wicked cool Sword in a scabbard on his back, unlike ones I've seen in this game before...

    Sign of things to come?

    Wishful thinking on my part?

    Both?

Find out next week, same bat-time, same bat-channel. (assuming some one finds out by next week.)
  20. Given that Myka left last season and it was a big old scene of it, then came back in the very first episode of this season. I don't think any main characters are gonna die, this show just doesn't do that so well..

Warehouse 13 is coming back for sure. (I mean Warehouse 14 isn't even under construction yet, this was way off schedule.)

Misses Frederick is coming back for sure.

The Dog is likely coming back.

Jinx - May not come back but I'm thinking he does.

I think they will wrap up this arc in the first 2 episodes of next season then move into their next arc, as they pretty much did the last 2 seasons.

    Agreed.

I loved Casino Royale, I think its maybe the best Bond flick to date, if only because they captured how tough it is to be a spy. There was lots of intrigue, back room stuff, contacts, politics of trying to turn a villain to get info... It was gritty and raw, Bond didn't just take everyone out with a head shot and a smirk and head back to the hotel for a martini. Through the film he was constantly getting roughed up, having to struggle, getting poisoned..

And they showed the toll it took on him, and Vesper...

Quantum of Solace, while IMO not as good as Casino Royale, was still a solid movie.. The plot was a little convoluted in some places but again captures how tough it is to be a spy, the casualties of the life of espionage etc. It's not light hearted or tongue in cheek it's solid action movies that show the weight of the life of espionage..

I agree, more like the novels and a lot deeper than the other Bond movies have been. I'm excited for the next one, do we have a release date?

Just watched it again... I don't think Loki is going to be the Big Bad of this film.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems out of place for him to do this, plus there is a scene where he is already in handcuffs in there.

My guess is that Red skull will return, since he seemed more teleported than disintegrated at the end of Cap.

Also I'd not be surprised to see Abomination from the Hulk movie return. He wasn't really killed and I could easily see them doing a sort of Team of Evil for the Avengers to fight.. Just a shame Tony had to kill Stain and Vanko, left none of his own baddies for the big movie...

The difference being that Catwoman was made as a stand alone movie with out any connection to a Batman movie, but additionally without any connection to the Batman mythos at all. They literally pulled her out of the Batman\DC universe and tried to shoe horn her into her own movie as a character she wasn't meant to be.

Then they had horrible writing, costuming, directing, scripting, editing and acting on top of it all...

That said, Neither Batman nor Spider man took 5 movies to lead into this, and this movie is unlike any other super hero movie they've done so far. And when is that Superman flick coming out?

Also I'm a little disappointed that they replaced Ed Norton for Dr. Banner... I really liked him in that role, and maybe he just didn't want to do this movie or what ever, but then I feel like he shouldn't have done the hulk in the first place...

  25. So I see Paragon City as being kind of like Eureka, the town from the show , Eureka, on a bigger scale.

In Eureka, the city is almost always going to be blown to bits by some ones lab experiment gone wrong. People are getting killed by weird experiments often, and Henry admits at one point the towns mortality rate is twice the national average.

On the other hand, Eureka is a haven for scientists (saving them from other so they can get themselves off'ed) and Global Dynamics is an amazing company that gives people an incredible opportunity when they go to work for it. So yes people risk their lives going to live there but the chance to work at GD and be a part of something huge and exciting and major is a big enough draw to warrant it.

Paragon City is known as "The Birthplace of Tomorrow." The City has the Portal Corp, a company that is studying the use of interdimensional portals. Not to mention Crey, and probably dozens of other tech companies to make things like medical teleporters, those medical ressurection devices and studying rikti tech to make things like war walls and clean running mono rails...

Not to mention all the health and sociological work and research that can be done in a town teeming with heroes. Besides, it's not always about being the best or making a name for one's self. If you work in Paragon City, say your job is night watch at a warehouse in Atlas Park.. You're a regular joe, you don't have a gun you got a flashlight, a taser and a walkie talkie, yeah you may never do the good Statesman is gonna do, but the next time the Lost come in to the warehouse and take over, you can be the one to tip off Saturn-Guy who comes, in, takes the Lost down and finds a lead on the next big case...

So regular security guy, let's call him barney, So barney isn't going to get a medal or his name in the paper, but he get's to be part of the team.

Same to the people who sell food to supers, or clean up after them. I mean some one's gotta sew the costumes, some one's gotta fix the sewers or rebuild the builings after the big fights destroy things right?

So if there were a town like Paragon City, where you could go and work on some top secret career making stuff, or maybe you could go and run into super heroes and help out by cleaning up after them or selling them something they need, and be a part of the team of Heroes that makes up the City of heroes, wouldn't you do it?

I'd wait tables in Paragon City Happily if it meant feeding a Hungry super team after a long fight with Malta..

And Maybe, just maybe I'd get mugged on the way to work and get saved by Miss Liberty!
