Love the last two Bond movies. Bardem is a good choice for villain.

As long as this new movie isn't boring like the other 2. The more recent ones just don't feel like Bond Movies. They're lacking something.

I didn't think the latest Bond films were "boring" but I'd agree they didn't quite seem like "James Bond" films either. It's quite possible that enough has changed over the years that we may never get another new Bond film that has the same "look and feel" as the ones that were made back in the 60's and 70's.

Yes... they felt more like the Bond Novels. Personally, I liked that we finally get to see a little more character development with Bond himself. In (most of) the earlier movies, Bond is already the sum total of his damage through the years. I enjoyed see a bit of how Bond gets that way.

Agreed.

I loved Casino Royale, I think its maybe the best Bond flick to date, if only because they captured how tough it is to be a spy. There was lots of intrigue, back room stuff, contacts, politics of trying to turn a villain to get info... It was gritty and raw, Bond didn't just take everyone out with a head shot and a smirk and head back to the hotel for a martini. Through the film he was constantly getting roughed up, having to struggle, getting poisoned..

And they showed the toll it took on him, and Vesper...

Quantum of Solace, while IMO not as good as Casino Royale, was still a solid movie.. The plot was a little convoluted in some places but again captures how tough it is to be a spy, the casualties of the life of espionage etc. It's not light hearted or tongue in cheek it's solid action movies that show the weight of the life of espionage..

I agree, more like the novels and a lot deeper than the other Bond movies have been. I'm excited for the next one, do we have a release date?

I agree. To me, From Russia With Love is my all-time favorite, and no other Bond movie has quite come close, and certainly not any of the recent ones but it's a personal preference.

FPARN!

I Agree the last 2 were the best and closest to the books, even if Quiantum was just soo.. down and dreary it affected your opinion of the whole film. I'd like to see a new version of SPECTRE arise....

My opinion, which I expressed for years before the ReBond and have continued to do since, is that they should do some movies that have the tone of the novels, yet those movies should be set in the period in which the novels were written. Much of the early Bond novels, notably Casino Royale, are driven by the notion that both Bond and the intelligence community are still picking up the pieces after World War II. A contemporary Bond, no matter how gritty, doesn't capture that essential notion.

I also miss the "fun" Bond movies of the '60's, as well as my favorite Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan. (Heresy, I know.) At least he still shows up in other roles.

Quantum was in such need of Eva Green's hotness.....just sayin'

But I really liked Casino Royale; I'd say the best Bond film, to me, at least...or at the very least at the very top. Having Eva Green in it sure helped

Every film could use some of her hotness.

I *liked* Casino Royale, but Quantum - other than Daniel Craig's presence - didn't do much for me at all. We still need a Big Bad with a Big Damn Laser (or has at least a Big Damn Scary Plan) who needs a Big Damn Hero to stop him.

And gadgets.

Lots of gadgets.

I agree. Casino Royale was one of the best Bond flicks to date IMO. Quantum was not up to par, and this was pretty clearly a result of the writers strike hitting in the middle of production.

In any case, whoever came up with the evil scheme that the plot was based on was an imbecile. Trying to extort money out of one of the poorest countries in South America has to be about as dumb as it gets.

Of course having read the actual Fleming story it was based on, well I understand they didn't have much to work with(movie has nothing whatsoever to do with the story, and to be honest there is no way a Bond movie could).

Too many alts to list.
