I was going to let this statement go. It was the tag line to the article I had read.

It is completely misleading though.

What the article really states is that Jackson has been part of enough films that combining their gross revenues makes it so he has been 'part of' films that together made more than any other actor's combined films.

In a good number of the higher grossing films, Sam just played a second to third string role. Star Wars, Marvel films which have accounted for a big percentage of that grossing total.

And no, I am not putting Jackson down. I like him as an actor.

I thought the same thing.

I like SLJ as an actor, but agreed, a lot of those movies he's been a part of to put him into that record (which is still awesome in it's own right), was as a minor character.

He has Iron Man listed, but he showed up in an after credits scene to be a part of it.

Somewhat of a tangent, but I find myself vaugely suprised to have seen no mention of Harrison Ford in that article when referencing actors and money. I suppose most of his really big roles being older really puts a dint in the box office numbers eh.

Well the article says $7.5B, which makes Frank Welker more than a billion short, according to your link. o.O

retarded trolls of the world unite? One of the main reasons I could care less about comments under articles. I prefer not to lose my intelligence.

Yeah, USAToday has some of the absolute worst trolls. They will find a way to link anything to either the Republicans or Dems in a negative way, regardless of what the article may be about.

Seems like that site has the numbers unadjusted for inflation, and is missing movies where the actor wasn't credited (when I compare with IMDb). Not sure that's in SLJs favour though, Frank seems to have a lot of uncredited movies to his name.

Until I know how Guinness got the number 7.4 billion, I'll remain skeptical.

The other list also shows Sam at 84 movies where the article says he's been in over 100.

Wow. When we consider how much Kevin Bacon has been in (see Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon) if SLJ has been in so many movies, why do we not have Six Degrees of SLJ?

I'm still waiting for Snakes on a Plane 2: Electric Boogaloo.

I find your lack of signature disturbing.

I know for the longest time Tom Hanks held the title. I think if you break it down to "lead roles" only, he would be #1. But another list I read had Eddie Murphy as #2. So there ya go. But I like them both.

True, but I see that as a testament to the man's work ethic and willingness to take on roles for fun or for the work, not just because he becomes the star. You don't often see Tom Cruise or Dicaprio in small roles in movies, their egos seem to get in the way of that, they have to have the lead or be part of a big ensemble maybe, but they won't take small roles.

However Jackson takes on small roles and does work all over the place, including voicing in video games, and because he works so much, big roles and non, leads and non, he gets the title. More actors could stand to be so versatile and take on smaller roles just for variety and flavor.

7 movies next year, and he's doing live theatre, the man does a lot of work, I gotta respect that.
