  2. You log in to see a big MotD window, telling you about all the cool things in the April Fool's event, but not where they are or how to find them. That's part of the fun of the event! In reality, that MotD window is the entirety of the event.

I am not here to defend this or that position per se which if you read up thread, my comments about the pulling out and letting the devs handle this signify this clearly.

I don't see annoying and not worth it as driving forces that will have the "devs" say oh we agree that tier 9 powers are annoying and not worth it and therefore they need to be changed. That is what I am saying nothing more nothing less. There is no need for me to state facts beyond that point because that is the only point that "I" was making period.
I'd be a lot more confident in letting the devs handle it if they didn't have 7+ years of not handling it under their belts so far. We have no indication that it's even on their radar.

"Annoying" and "not worth it" can be more technically referred to as "QoL issues" and "underpowered", things which one might note have frequently prompted changes that have ended up very positive for the game.

You haven't stated any facts. You've stated your opinions, and given no reasons at all to back them up. If you would like to state facts, please do so.
  5. Rogues/vigilantes get reward merits for morality missions, so they really are strictly better at obtaining ATOs that way, not just "lacking a disadvantage". And advantage/disadvantage are relative concepts, anyway.

No, it can also go at the beginning. The TL;DR crowd may not bother to skip to the end of the post to see if there's a summary, anyway, and having it at the beginning also sometimes serves as a "this is my thesis, bear with me as I explain it" even to people reading the full post.
  7. Ah. I apologize for the slightly rant-ish nature of my previous post; people fundamentally misunderstanding probability is a pet peeve of mine, frequently triggered by people asserting that drops have changed, with far-from-sufficient evidence to make such a claim. Asking, non-rhetorically, if drop rates have been changed is entirely different.

And no, drops have not been changed, to the best of my knowledge.
  8. Purple drops have always been finicky like that. Since their introduction, there have been people who get them like clockwork every week (or day), or who get several at a time, or who get none for a month, or who get none ever. So, one person not getting any purple drops is not nearly enough to conclude that the drop rate has changed. In fact, unless you collect a huge amount of data (as in, far more than a single player can generate), it would be very difficult to conclude that, and the only people I am aware of with access to such data are the devs, and they probably don't need to guess at whether the drop rate was changed.

    Changing out ATO

Good news: every Blaster ATO is worth considerably more than the corresponding Stalker ATO. You can auction the one you bought, buy the one you want, and have millions left over. Your "mistake" actually did you a favor.

In fact, given the current Stalker ATO prices, you should never* buy a Stalker ATO with merits at all: the 25m cost alone is more than any of the Stalker ATOs are selling for, without even considering the opportunity cost of the merits.

*except in the case of future price changes, of course
  10. It feels like you've kind of backed yourself into this corner, frankly. The elemental melee weapons are a lot like improvised weapons, which unarmed comic book characters use all the time. Concentrated Strike crits don't matter to brutes/tanks, but even on a scrapper, CS (without crit damage) does more damage than Rend Armor or CL0 Crushing Uppercut (including crit damage), although that isn't a perfect comparison, since those attacks have slightly different recharge times. And anyway, even if CS does just plain lose damage by not critting, it MORE than makes up for that damage with an extra Power Siphon. Electric Melee has for some reason not been mentioned, but it's a completely unarmed set which is also quite good.

Still, yeah, energy melee should totally be fixed. Will that fix make it comparable to Super Strength? Probably not. Since that appears to be enough to turn you off from a set, I suspect you will not be happy even with any EM changes that do end up happening.

Edit: Electric Melee has been mentioned, I have failed my reading comprehension check.
  11. I helped derail the thread, so I might as well contribute something on-topic...

In my observation, Abraham Lincoln is often held in legendary regard: the man whose will re-forged a broken nation. He's so legendary that fiction sometimes attributes him superhuman traits totally unrelated to his historical self (including, but not isolated to, that vampire hunter movie). Would he live up to this legend if he appeared in modern America (or modern Paragon)? Almost certainly not. I don't mean that as any insult to him, his legend is simply larger than life, nobody could live up to it.
  12. I believe it's Sorceress SeRene, actually. I remember she appears in Vanessa's arc, possibly before that. Diabolique first appears in Cerulean's arc, I think?

If you didn't see either of them, you didn't finish First Ward.

Edit: And last I checked, Paragonwiki is missing a lot of info on the First Ward contacts.
  13. This counterpart set might be cool, but it is an entirely different set from Ninjitsu, and would not at all accomplish what people want Ninjitsu for.
  14. It is cheesy. Whether or not it's "too" cheesy is entirely a question of taste, and one which only you can answer. I think it's a clever name, but may not be appropriate depending on how serious you want the character to be.

Edit: I didn't even catch the cheese pun /facepalm
  15. Then you may have encountered a bug. If you submit a bug report, make sure to include as many details as possible: what else you were doing at the time, where you were, et cetera. This helps them to isolate the issue so they can fix it.
  16. That would indeed be a bug, if it happened as you describe. The same thing might appear to happen if you pressed D (to move) at the same time, though.

Also, there is no inspiration that revives you with full endurance. The best is Immortal Recovery, which gives full health and 25 endurance.
  17. This is a relatively common issue. It should correct itself by exiting and re-starting the game.

I'm not sure what to do if that doesn't fix it, because I have never seen or heard of that not fixing it.

You're basically forcing Stalker to be one thing while letting Scrapper be everything because Scrappers are apparently super enough to do anything while Stalkers aren't super enough to do anything but what their theme is limited to.

And to be *logical*, if a Stalker can't use Titan Weapons or Super Strength while being small and sneaky (Nin), *WHY* should an AT who isn't as good at being small and sneaky be able to? Stalkers have higher caps for -perception radius, can redirect the foe's attention with various powers and get to be fully invisible from level 1 but can't carry a huge weapon. Okay...but let's give Scrappers the same skills but still carry a huge weapon, making them mechanically better at sneaking about. Riiiiiight...
You're railing against an opinion that nobody here has presented, as far as I can tell. We are all in agreement that Stalkers not getting any set because it doesn't "fit" them thematically is completely stupid. It isn't a double standard: Scrappers should get whatever sets they don't yet have, and so should Stalkers. Yet if this is a stupidity that the devs insist on, fine, let's proliferate everything else that can possibly be proliferated, and isolate this island of stupidity in the sea of everything else that makes sense, and then we can point out that it's isolated and stupid and needs to change. The solution should not be to keep a bunch of things that are stupid so that one stupid thing will make sense.

Purely for the name? Probably not. I would reroll a character to a different, newly available AT/powerset that fit their concept better, though, and indeed have done so several times.

Edit: But I cannot bear to delete a character much past level 20, so usually the old character gets transferred to another server for retirement.
  20. You can apply boosters in Mids with the + key (and remove them with the - key).

If you have 119.8% recharge enhancement in Hasten, and 158.75% in global bonuses, that's a total of 119.8+158.75 = +278.55% recharge, so Hasten would recharge in 450/3.7855 = 118.9 seconds.

For the 10s attack, if it were a 5-target AoE, its 66.7% chance would drop to 13.3% per target. The 15s power (which gave 100% chance as a single target) would only have a 20% chance per target as a 5-target power.
Do we know yet that it just divides by the target cap? Arbiter Hawk said it's affected by AoE size and target cap, but didn't say (and didn't know) exactly what the formula was, and the data I've seen so far isn't conclusive enough to say.

Even with that, I have already conceded that Crab armor is on the border, and a good argument can be made that it should be Tech, so I really don't know what you think you're getting at.

The Iron Man suit is considerably more advanced/rare in its setting than a Crab Spider's, so it's not a good comparison.

Very few characters fit 100% into any of the origins. That's why I think it's best to look at what is primarily the source of the character's abilities. Stark's intellect allowed him to design the suit, and also often directly helps him win fights, but the suit itself is still what gives him most of the abilities we would call his powers in this game, so he's Technology.

I'm afraid we're derailing Leo's thread, here. Let's make another one, if you want to discuss this further.

The border between Natural and Tech is different, and somewhat fuzzier, than the border between Natural and Magic. Basically every character in CoH uses tech to some degree, what with the mediporters, phoning contacts, etc. Not nearly every character uses magic in any amount at all.

This is highly subject to player taste, but IMO, a character is not tech origin unless the tech they use is at least nearly unique AND the tech is the primary source of their power. Batman uses tech, some of it really advanced, and much of it nearly unique, but most of his abilities are just due to his determination, intelligence, knowledge, and skill, so he's usually classified as Natural. A Crab Spider's abilities originate primarily from their technology, but that level of technology is pretty widespread in the CoHverse, so they're not Tech either (although their tech is advanced/rare enough that a decent argument can be made that they should be).
