  1. Titan Sweep doesn't do bruising. It's not a bad power by any measure, it just isn't a cornerstone of the set, and thus is skippable if necessary. However, I would certainly not skip it in a leveling build, because Whirl and Arc don't come until much later.

    Edit: It appears you mean Defensive Sweep? But tankers can't skip it anyway, I was just adding that for completeness if someone is reading this thread and wondering the same thing for another AT.
  2. Crushing Blow and Titan Sweep are the two most skippable powers, IMO. Or possibly Defensive Sweep if your armor set doesn't make good use of it, but obviously that's not an option for a tanker.
    I haven't checked the numbers for tankers yet, but for scrappers, Titan Sweep and Whirling Smash trail well behind Arc of Destruction and Rend Armor for DPA. Crushing Blow's DPA is actually not very high compared to the rest of the set.
  3. My most recent character started his career with 4 DfB runs, just for the temp powers. That took me to level 14. Clearly, multiple runs are intended, because of the reward table that you can benefit from multiple times. So, some kind of diminishing returns I could maybe agree with, but your proposal is far too harsh.

    I play on Freedom, read and talk in the help channel, and team almost exclusively in PUGs, and I have not yet encountered a high-level clueless DfB newbie, neither in teams nor in chat. I think that some players have a very skewed perception of how widespread this problem actually is - or more appropriately, isn't.
  4. From a defense standpoint, Maneuvers is better, and even helps your team. On the other hand, Combat Jumping costs much less end, gives immobilize protection, and provides some combat mobility.

    ATIO Question(s)

    Right, it says Archetype Origin. Thus, ATO. ATIO would be Archetype Invention Origin.
  6. That's why we call it Masculation, after all.

  9. So as some of you may possibly have noticed, I have been in a lot of Titan Weapons threads for the last week, expounding its virtues (awesomeness chief among them) and sharing my thoughts (that it's awesome). When not posting about how awesome TW is (very awesome, if you're wondering), I was experiencing how awesome TW is, mostly on my TW/WP scrapper, who as of just before maintenance this morning, is level 50, less than 7 days real time after he was created. My path to 50 included:

    4 DfB runs, for the temp powers, taking me to level 14
    All 4 Faultline arcs, as well as Roy Cooling, Stephanie Peebles, Levantera's first arc, Maria Jenkins, and the Midnigher arc
    Both parts of Posi
    Sister Psyche
    Citadel
    Numina
    Moonfire
    Katie Hannon
    ITF
    Lots of tips, radio missions, and Borea missions to fill gaps
    Earning the Atlas Medallion, Portal Jockey, and Geas of the Kind Ones accolades, and nearly completing the others

    I used several of the XP boosters I've received from paragon rewards at strategic points in the process ("strategic" in this context means "I want my next power faster"), but on the other hand I failed to make full use of my Experienced power, with 3 charges left when I hit 50 - I was saving them for the last 10-15 levels when five bubbles is worth the most, but the 2-hour recharge then prevented me from using them quickly enough. Once the servers come back up I'm going to search for a civilian whose name starts with M to find out exactly how much play time it took me.

    What this all means is that in the last week, I have logged more time playing TW in a shorter time than almost any other person alive, so I figure one of two things must be true:
    1) I will soon die of Titan Weapon poisoning, or
    2) I am in a state of Titanic Nirvana and have unprecedented understanding of hitting people with large objects
    so I will assume 2) and share some of my zen-like insights. Here they are:

    This is an incredibly powerful set. It probably doesn't have the very best single-target DPS of any set, nor the best AoE, nor the best burst, nor the best control, nor the best defensive power. But it is very high on the list in all of those things, and I think in overall performance it might be the strongest melee set I have ever seen. Yet it also has weaknesses that many other sets do not, like a severe sensitivity to tohit debuffs, and the much-hyped endurance costs, and when there's one minion left at half health and your Momentum just expired.

    Whirling Smash is often referred to as a Foot Stomp clone, but I don't think that's a fair comparison. Whirling Smash animates twice as fast and recharges in six seconds less It also has about the same DPA as Crushing Blow with Momentum, and pulls ahead with procs/Interface. I wouldn't be surprised to see this, or possibly Titan Sweep instead, push CB out of some single-target attack chains. CB still has value as the fastest attack for starting Momentum, though, along with its better DPE.

    Lastly, here is the build I am planning to respec into once I can log in. I used Battle Axe as a placeholder, and mapped the powers like this:
    Chop -> Crushing Blow
    Gash -> Follow Through
    Build Up -> Build Momentum
    Swoop -> Rend Armor (the empty slot is for an Achilles Heel proc, but I can't put that in Battle Axe)
    Whirling Axe -> Whirling Smash
    Cleave -> Titan Sweep
    Pendulum -> Arc of Destruction (I'm not certain of the FotG proc, might just use a rech/end IO instead)
    As you can see, this is a spare-no-expense build, even including several enhancement boosters, because this is a remake of my oldest and favoritest character, who is also my namesake, with the powersets he always should have had, but that didn't exist when he was first created.
    I originally planned a build with even higher defense, but I'm not sure I even need it, because I've been running with defense in the 20s-30s on +1/x8 while leveling and rarely even had to use any insp that wasn't red. I may revise my opinion after running some trials.
    The Kinetic Combat sets in Boxing and Brawl have the triple instead of the cheaper knockdown proc because I bought them in the Black Friday sale, and (cleverly, I thought at the time) only bought 4 pieces instead of full sets.

    ...or just isn't putting themselves in situations where they'd notice it. Until about level 20, I didn't really notice my end costs being particularly high. I knew it was an end-hungry set; I'd played it in beta after all, and read all about it too. But I was actually considering putting off Quick Recovery for a few levels rather than grabbing it right at 20. Then I ran into my first EB in a solo mission, and suddenly I was sucking wind. I hadn't been running at a high difficulty, just x1 or x2, so fights simply ended too quickly for me to run out of endurance, no matter how expensive my powers were. Running to the next group was enough time for me to recover most of the endurance I'd spent on the last group. I didn't really start to feel pressure on my blue bar until I turned up my difficulty to x8 some levels later to make use of Whirling Smash, at which point I was standing still fighting for a while against each group.

    Scrapper ATIO?

    Headsplitter has a flat 15% crit chance against everything, it doesn't get a bonus against bosses. Moreover though, it's very likely that this IO increases crit chance by 40% of whatever the current crit chance is, not by adding 40%. So 5% becomes (5*1.4) = 7%, 10% becomes 14%, and 15% becomes 21%. However, I believe the crit is a global bonus, not just to the power it's slotted in.

    Certainly everyone suffers from that, but I don't know about equally. My SS/ brute can withstand a much larger degree of tohit debuffs than most characters, just because he has huge tohit from double Rage. On the other end of the spectrum, my new TW scrapper suffers disproportionately more from tohit debuffs, because not only do they prevent my attacks from hitting, they also prevent me from gaining Momentum, so I can't even do a very good job of spamming attacks hoping for one to get through.

    However, I'm not sure Dark Armor having a weakness to -tohit is actually a problem. It doesn't have the severe weakness to psi and toxic that most sets have, after all. Also, Body Mastery, which has always been a popular epic choice for any armor set, and a favorite for the sets that have (or are perceived as having) endurance problems, also contains Focused Accuracy, which grants high tohit debuff resistance. Toggle that on when enemies try to debuff you, and laugh at them.

    SoA stuff

    If you want to your level 35 power to come from a patron pool, you can't do so at first, because you don't have access to the patron pools yet when you train to 35, since Arbiter Rein doesn't contact you until after you train. So you have to train, do the patron arc, then respec to take a patron pool power as your level 35 power. The arc gives you a respec, so this is merely an inconvenience, but still.
  14. Hopeling

    SoA stuff

    6) already exists. Arbiter Rein contacts you at 35 now. That's still not ideal, though, because you have to train up to 35 first, so you have to respec if you wanted to take a patron power at 35.
  15. You've posted this in the Scrapper forum, but Blapper usually refers to a blaster who plays like a scrapper, meaning a lot of melee. Are you talking about an elec/elec scrapper, or an elec/elec blaster? I'm not sure what a blapper style/build for a scrapper would even be.

    Scrapper ATIO?

    What NDA?

    I have never been prompted with any kind of NDA for a beta here, that I can remember. It's an open beta. I'm sure there are closed betas that do have NDAs, but the beta boards at the top of the forum that any VIP can view aren't part of that.
  17. Yes, the Radial Epiphany has the stealth and +movement according to the in-game detailed info (+35% move speed and +3500% stealth, which I think means 35 feet?).

If it's a short-duration debuff it wouldn't be that great, though - see all the threads on Degenerative vs Reactive Interface for why.
    It would be almost exactly as good as a -res debuff for the same duration.
  19. Hm, that page doesn't match the descriptions from the Incarnate Abilities window in-game. The paragonwiki page lists Intangible in the Radial Epiphany, but in-game has it only in Total Radial.

    In-game, the power's description says: Targeted Wide AoE League Teleport, +Healing Received, +Intangible. Foe Knockback, Stun. So the intangible is listed in a sentence with the ally effects, not the foe effects, but I don't have the power myself so I can't directly check.
  20. It appears that only the Total Radial has the intangible effect, and it lasts for 4 seconds. I'm not certain from the description, but I think it applies the intangible to your allies, not the enemies.
  21. I don't especially care what a set looks like as a set, because I use the pieces individually, as do most of the people I see. However, I still end up using all the pieces of many sets - the recent IDF and Defense pieces, for example, are all very nice, and I'm using most or maybe all of them, spread across various characters. So if they'd just given us the IDF boots because that was the most asked-for piece or something, I would be sad. Really, as long as the pieces are usable without the rest of set, I think it's fine. Some of the recent pieces tint in strange ways and look out of place except with their set, because you can't make it match the color of other pieces, and that I dislike.
  22. Vengeance can give 30% defense or more, for 2 minutes at a time. The longest-lasting Barrier is only that strong for 30 seconds. And Vengeance is only a pool power, after all. All the Leadership powers are only team-wide on a league, which I think is fine, there's no need for them to become three times as powerful just for joining a trial.

    That said, it would be nice if you could cast Vengeance on anyone in the league, even if it still only buffed your own team.

    Potentially, yeah. But I think there's a reasonable definition of spoiler that exists somewhere between "everything is a spoiler" and "nothing is a spoiler". As I said back on the first page, I don't think this particular piece of information qualifies as a spoiler. But there are certainly some things that should qualify as spoilers, like the several in RWZ or Praetoria, and especially with a recent influx of new players, the truly unrealistic expectation is for all of those new players to completely shun interaction with other players because any contact might involve information they haven't learned yet.
  24. Nobody's asking for the conversation to cease, just for spoiler tags when appropriate, in order to give those people a chance to remove themselves from the conversation, exactly as you've said they should do. This section of the boards isn't specifically designated for lore discussions, after all, just general discussion of the game that doesn't belong in a more specific subforum. In fact, if the threads currently on the front page are an indication, discussion of the game's story is only one of many topics discussed here.

    Scrapper ATIO?

    You should be able to post it here. There's no NDA on the current beta that I'm aware of - it certainly hasn't prompted me to agree to one.
