[u]Let's get right to Damage Set Bonuses[u]:
Damage Set Bonuses make me sad. Let me make you sad about them too.
So the question here is: WHY?
Why is damage so crappy of a set bonus, while Acc and Rech are so good?
[/ QUOTE ]
Damage is King.
Nothing will move you forward but damage.
Aside of a very few exceptions, the only solution to our all problems is "skullbash it till it stops moving".
No amount of control, healing or mitigation will get you through the day if you dont have damage to complement it.
I suppose the Devs limited the access to damage bonuses to limit our ability to get back to pre-ED level of uber damage. -
[ QUOTE ]
You know, now that we have a Mission Architect, what we really need to compliment it is a Mission Oracle...

If we could, that would give the RMT'ers more things to sell...

Not if the game accounts have to be under the same master account. -

Why not just throw the stupid thing out and never think about it again?
[/ QUOTE ]
I dunno... I kinda like the idea that you are renting out part of an alternate dimension (or wherever the bases actually exist). It feels like something that should be there. Plus, you need SOMETHING to do with all of that prestige.
[/ QUOTE ]
*shrug*
I think it's a pointless baseless God forsaken pain in the )(*&^&$^*&*^%)(*&_(*^% and I would be really happy to see it go.
I suppose it's not gonna go so instead of the actual confusing and ludicrously stupid system they should just take the damned prestige from our SG account automatically on the first of the month every month and be done with it. Once you are out of prestige your base lock down after a 2 week grace period.
If you need to stop paying for whatever reason, you can shutdown your base. It costs a month of upkeep to do so. To start it up again, it's also one month of upkeep.
[Edit]
Right as I clicked the "post" button, I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of griefers suddenly cried out in orgasm and were suddenly silenced.
What a magnificent tool I just created for them!
Forget that one...
Just remove upkeep. -

Can't you do this anyways? I know I've seen someone playing with 3 monitors, so you could move your map to one monitor and resize it as you wish.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've looked all through the options and "Googled" it too. If there is a way to do this it eludes me. Bear in mind, I am not referring to splitting a single desktop across multiple monitors, that is a function of the video driver. I am referring to the game being able to send specific information, like the city/zone map, to the secondary monitor. As far as I understand it, this would need to be supported in the game client.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you are right and yes it would be cool if we could move in-game windows to an second monitor.
What Fleeting is referring to is someone using this Matrox gadget to expend his desktop and in-game view in 3 monitors. -
Why not just throw the stupid thing out and never think about it again?

I stopped reading at "Origin specific" because I have yet to see anything good following that phrase.
/unsigned.
[/ QUOTE ]
But if you stop reading right after, how can you know if this one is not the right one?
Sam's post is eloquently adequate, I totally agree with him, and Kusanagi too.
No suggestion to "improve" origins ever had any actual interest, only boring narrow minded cliches or thinly veiled min/maxing attempts. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
/unsigned. It can get annoying, but sometimes you want to broadcast something to the whole zone while in the AE buildings.
[/ QUOTE ]
OK, so obviously this is a very unpopular suggestion. I'll just move the broadcast channel to another tab, problem solved.
But enlighten me, please, what amazingly valuable nuggets do you feel compelled to broadcast from within the AE, other than the LFT/LFM messages which should either be done via Local or via tells after searches?
[/ QUOTE ]
Answering questions asked in broadcast by people outside of the AE building. -

Tired?
Didnt get your morning coffee yet?
How do I know? Well it's because the Joke Detector goes the other way around, point that end, the one pointing at you right now, point it outward...
It's already beeping you say.
Of course it's beeping, the joke is on you my friend.
You've been around these parts long enough, you should know Dug better then that by now...

[ QUOTE ]
What if an elf (Magic creature whose powers are Natural to his species) was transported into the future, involved in an fight or accident, operated on and given cybernetic organs (Technology), then transported back in time, found by Crey Industries tested on with drug therapies and gene splicing (Science), then ultimately escaped and became a hero?
You've just got to learn to think outside the Origin box.
[/ QUOTE ]
This, give or take, was my argument to remove origins from character creation and let us use any enhancer from any origins.
My AR / Dev blaster is a marksman by training (natural)
He does a lot of damage by using special bullets (Tech)
He got boosted reflexes and can act real fast because of combat drugs (Science)
Of course now I (and many players) only use IOs, commons or sets, all around so that argument is now pretty much dead. -

[ QUOTE ]
And alts make it hard for everyone else to have fun. I see somebody on and make a friend. Later they aren't on. Maybe they are - but on an alt. I don't know. It just looks like my new friend is missing. Alts kills friendships and community - and everyone knows that community is what keeps MMO's alive.
I call upon the devs to solve this problem that is driving away new players, giving existing players ennui and making them quit. Reduce all accounts to 1 character redside and 1 character blueside. Stop selfishness from ruining my game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I must have missed the notice saying that the game is ALL ABOUT what YOU want.
Hello Mr. Fun Police. Don't try to dictate how others play with your so called vision on how things should be. Restriction to just one character per account, are you sure you're reading what you're writing?
Also, if you want to make a suggestion to provide incentive for players to stay, please dont make one that will drive them to quit instead. And if you're so insecure as to suspect friends logging off on you, only to play an alt instead, then send a Global friends request. If they refuse the request, then ask yourself: Are they being worthwhile friends to begin with?

There's a joke detector with faulty batteries here.

Except they say in the blurb, yanno..
[ QUOTE ]
For the first time, Hero characters can become Villains and vice versa, enabling Heroes to cross over to the Rogue Isles and Villains to experience Paragon City.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
And as I believe I said I have a feeling they will be experiencing Mirrorverse versions of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles rather than the regular areas. Thus the blurb would be true, from a certain point of view.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait.... let's take this one step further... what if, in the mirror universe, all heroes are villains and all villains are heroes... meaning, all stalkers are heroic and all tankers are villainous for example... but you play in the opposite zones? So, you can either play in the mirrorverse as a Stalker in Talos/Atlas.... or you can play a Tanker in the Rogue Isles... but when you go back into "our" world, it all goes back to normal again?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you hit the nail on the head.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I think he totally missed the nail and almost whacked his thumb...
Where is the faction slider in this?
Our heroes have been to Preatoria / alternate universe before and never switched alignment.
My guess is that we will have a hero <--> villain meter and doing missions / whatever actions and choices will move that meter one way or the other. If you move beyond a specific point you will no longer be accepted by your old faction but will be able to go to the other. Thus having stalkers and MM under the Atlas statue and scrappers and blasters working for Arachnos.
After all, the only difference between a hero and a villain game mechanic wise is a simple flag...
Anyway, we'll see sooner or later. -

Except having an R&R facility available for weary soldiers *does* make sense. It should be closer to the Vanguard controlled area, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT. I do wish they had gotten more time to make more zone-personalized AE buildings, but ultimately it's not entirely out of place.
[/ QUOTE ]
They moved construction material, tools and crew in the middle of a war zone to make an entertainment center surrounded by monsters, villains and aliens... that is really stupid.
Even more so when you consider there is an AE building in every zone leading to a Vanguard RWZ entry building. -
[ QUOTE ]
3. Either give us a way to acquire more slots (preferably not through a micro-purchase), or give alternate builds a separate set of slots. (And I wouldn't complain if we got both.)

Yes! more costumes slots!
Me want! -
Yep I would buy a lifetime subscription for 200$ give or take.

Base Repricing
1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
I can now afford a much bigger base then I would ever have been able to. I never upgraded from the base plot because I didnt want to have to plan around paying the upkeep.
2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
Auto-repricing take care of that, but I would have otherwise, by buying a bigger plot and moving items around the new bigger rooms.
3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
No idea, a few days I guess. Taking it slow and placing a lot of decorative items anyway, plus the time to sniff around and steal others ideas to fill up the new bigger rooms.
4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
I can afford a bigger base but I have to pay rent too but it's small enough that it's not a problem.
5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
I now have the space to have all the TP beacons otherwise not much change in sight.
Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
As others have already said, storage space is too limited and having to choose between IOs, bases items and buffs is not very cool. Event salvage is also a problem.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
None what so ever.
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
No time, I didnt find the old system confusing, the new one is not very hard to get either.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
Bases items will be more costly to make, buffs will go even more unused then before. Much potential for griefing with the invention salvage system.
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
Very few, my SGs are always friends only and I wont place rare / costly salvage in the storage anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
Heh I missed this one somewhere....has this been fixed?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say most probably...
[EDIT] In fact, I would say, they fixed it, then nerfed it, said it worked as intended, stealth nerfed it again, we complained, they boosted it back, the winter lords came to town, they nerfed them and all the other giant monsters, we complained again, they changed the monster somewhat back to what they were, we rejoyced, they overboosted the regen on giant monsters, we now need a dozen of -regen able characters to drop them, you have to be really lucky to see a giant monster, aside from Lusca who's now reproducing in IP like it wants to take over the world. I actualy fought Kraken in Perez park last sunday, the first time I was him there in many months.
They are on some non-Euclidian respawn timer it seems.
[/EDIT]
In case you didnt notice, the Red name OP's is dated 23 september 2004
And the last post of the thread 1 october 2004
Almost 2 years late... almost.
You do seem to have some really potent necromancy rituals Sellefane. -

[ QUOTE ]
I'm afraid you're remembering somewhat wrong. There is a grace period after your first missed payment during which you base is powered down. But if you continue to ignore rent, eventually all access to your base is lost. Once you pay your rent, access is restored.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I actually wrote what I'd like to say about that, the thread would get deleted and I would get banned from the boards...
My pissed off meter just went up several notches. -
[ QUOTE ]
and now we have 998 rent due on our entrance portal. Anyone know how to erase your base?
[/ QUOTE ]
You dont have to pay the rent, if you dont pay, only items that do something stop working, like the teleporters, defenses, etc... You can still enter the base, build it, etc...
You could have the biggest base ever, massive secure plot at 140M filled up the wazoo with stuff and still dont pay the rent. your base would simply be totaly functionless. -
[ QUOTE ]
Which I suppose means that SG mode would split your ordinary Influence gain into Prestige and Influence, with higher levels getting a 90/10 or even a 100/0 split instead of 50/50.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good point...
Now time for my usual "rant", give us a choice in this, put a slider we can change from 0/100 to 100/0 as we want?
But anyway, high levels have so much influence, if it was an actual material item, we wouldnt have to bother with prestige we would just make SG bases out of influence...
Looking at it, uninformed as I am, I'd say I'll play 1 level in personal mode then 1-2 levels in SG mode to rake the prestige and still keep enough influence to get my enhancers...
And do the old TFs in SG mode too. -
Interesting...
Now can we "trade" influence for prestige?
Does the prestige we get add-up in a personal "account" like influence does or does it go directly to the SG prestige "account"?
If we exemplar in SG mode, do we get more prestige?
I dont clearly understand the last comment, do we get both influence and prestige from mobs when we are in SG mode or is it prestige in SG mode and influence in "personal" mode?
