That was amazing, very well done
damn...I'm really going to miss COX, feels like I'm getting dumped -
Ill/Storm is by far my favorite. It's great fun once you get used to the chaotic nature, and it looks freaking awesome. Actually has a bit better control now with the summer kb>kd proc. I am actually considering speccing out of hurricane because I don't usually even need it.

Quote:You need to PM Evil_Legacy and ask her opinion, she's lives for this kind of thing. Thank me later.Normally don't ask about preference related matters such as this, but I'm really torn and I have 4 Staff scrappers/brutes atm and need to pick one. I'm hoping some people around here can give me some insight on how their experiences with their staff/??? to help influence my decision.
My main objective is to solo level and solo the incarnate DA content at end game, catching incarnate trials when I can play uninterrupted. (doesn't happen often)
I'm just returning after about a year away, and I looked up the new DA mobs and a lot of them have -defense attacks. I know the best way to counter it DDR, but shield isn't an option with staff and I already have three SR characters. So I'm trying to figure out which secondary (between WP and Elec Armor) will perform better at current endgame with similar IO investments. I'll probably still try and hit S/L defense softcap on either character, and try for Energy defense as well. I have about 1.5 bil saved up from before I left, and I plan on making a bit more to put into the build. I'll probably see how far I can push it without purples.
Next up is the AT. I figure that staff doesn't really favor either Scrapper or Brute, so it's more about Epic/Patron (toss up between Shadow Meld and Darkest Night) and the secondary pools (brutes have higher HP and resistance cap, fury makes damage aura hurt) rather than the primary. Since I mostly play solo, I don't mind chasing fury.
Right now I'm considering either a Staff/WP scrapper or Staff/Elec brute, but I can switch it up if there are some good reasons to.
Interested in any opinions anyone has to offer on this matter. Thank you. -

i like reading of the to your expencies wit armors of power of will and electormns moving about, i reall enjoy electo arm myselfs and are happy orz that you do oso. i tink electonic dance armo will be beastmoly if i can sav enuff monies to purchase the enhancements that arent normal but like you kil moblies and they drop recips and you get slavage and can put them together with a hammer. i do wish ithad blacksmith sound while u make it though like in wow, wow is da bomb dis game way not wow, i am sad orz. anywy my plan is for having edm armor with caped not hard missy skill of 45 percent ftw. enermize was def a huge help, dubstep armo before the change was slackin. only time i have problemos are aganst toxic wich is pretty rare, aside from spiders mobs. and if i see them the tier 9 sees me thru. kina wish graphs was diff tho, i dont like looking like a few standy things of light. don have much sperenz with WP ever1 says is good but i like not having to worry about how many mobs ar around for survivables. come to conemplates, prolly why i never got invulnimators very high neither. most of my dislikes come from more of i cant kill things very fast or do other fun stuff fast either but thats cuz i have a shield icon not any failing of housemusic armor. i find use sink offenzivles is helpful drains a big chunk then light field keeps em drained sometime i use energize just for the end discount

This event has been one of my least favorite things I've ever experienced in this game. Please don't do it again.
-
I've tried both, I find I get more use out of repulsion field actually. RF can let you run around and mess with mostly just the mobs you want to mess with. Force bubble is huge, but honestly, the only things I REALLY need it to keep out just walk right through it anyway. In the dark recesses of my memory I seem to recall it used to work around corners but I'm pretty sure it doesn't anymore (sad face).
Anyway, I have both but don't find Force Bubble very earth shattering in terms of a T9 power. -
My only 50 is actually a dm/regen scrapper, but I built him up with +regen IOs. This was before I found out how little +regen IOs actually help. All in all I was pretty disappointed with him, so I would say build for defense as much as you can and dont worry about +regen IOs at all aside from maybe the 2 uniques. DB is pretty rocking no matter what you pair it with.

I just want to add my two cents - I'd have absolutely no problem with blasters turning into tankmages even though I don't play them. That's what basically all the other classes turned into anyway. The only place it might matter is PVP but they have different rules there anyway so I'm sure they could adjust for it.
Honestly I see no difference in someone fireblasting a mob from 60 feet vs someone sprinting the last 60 feet at 60 mph or however fast we all move and punching them in the face really freaking hard .2 seconds slower.
When is the last time a mob got away from a melee character? That's what we should be asking. -
Hi guys - Came back to the game after quite a long absence to find a lot has changed. I decided to roll up a new tank to see all the new stuff instead of respeccing all my existing characters into the new inherent fitness powers and to see the new arcs and what not on the way up. Had a couple questions for the build here:
1. Power order, not sure if this is ok or not
2. Defense - on this one I capped S/L, i had an earlier one that had around 33 to melee but it seems like typed def is in vogue lately, just looking for confirmation
3.Anything glaringly wrong? I kind of hated wasting slots on brawl but then again I don't see any other powers that are really starved for them
4. Alpha, yeah so I have no clue how the incarnate system works in actual game play, I threw resilient on just to see how high I could get resistances here.
5.MotT proc - not sure where this is best placed for maximum stackage
Hm, well reading that it sounds like I'm asking for quite a lot heh, anyway, anything that jumps out at you would be appreciated.

Quote:Thanks for clarification, I actually had IH as the specific example in my mind that raised the question. That would violate the cottage rule.
"not change the execution mechanics of a power"
But never forget this:
"without a balance-significant reason for doing so that cannot be satisfied in any other practical way"
For example, changing Instant Healing to a click broke the cottage rule because of a balance issue and there wasn't another practical way to solve that issue. -
Arcanaville - Just cuz your wording confused me a little, are you saying changing a click to a toggle or the other way around is a violation of the cottage rule or is allowed by it?
-
What shiver needs is for the devs to lower the -recharge cap. I haven't like ice since they put the cap on. (OK maybe no cap was overpowered but 25% feels useless.
-
Haven't any of y'all played mybrute? Whips would be the best freaking weapon in the game hehe.
-
Quote:I don't mind sets being balanced with each other, that wasn't the point I was trying to make. I just get depressed when I look across the various sets within an AT and see mostly the exact same powers with different graphics. (for some things like defiance I can see the need for such uniformity, but not all ATs have this mechanism)They are bad, and they kill variety. This is something Geko never understood, but thankfully Castle does. Outliers on the underperform side rarely get played and Outliers on the overperform side get played in excess. Thus limiting variety.
Pretty much all sets should end out in (very roughly) the same place when played by the same player. This is where Scrappers pretty much are with respect to primaries now. Most of the sets do very well, but in different ways so they all get played.
I won't address the part about limiting variety as I think you understood my original post to be something other than I intended. -
God, that avatar pic is seriously creeping the crap out of me.
-
Nice post although I think most of the forum goes probably already got the idea. Wasn't quite sure if you were asking or trying to explain at first. Also, the snarky part of me wanted to respond to this part:
I didn't worry about numbers back then either, but really we didn't need to. You could be great without having to know every number in the game. Now, sure you can get by just by playing with SOs and whatnot, but you'll never be near what you could have before, or close to what you can be with IOs. -
I doubt they quit the game entirely, maybe they just didn't like the playstyle change. To each their own. Personally, I liked that the /psi set was so different before, now its just like all the others. I wish they'd quit making everything taste like vanilla and give us real differences back. Outliers aren't bad, they add variety. (feel this way about all the ATs, not just doms)

Another chain to consider is Incinerate -> Scorch -> Cremate -> Scorch (+145% recharge in Scorch). It takes another step down in DPS, but only requires three attacks and has better DPE, both of which can significantly relieve slotting pressure in a high-end build. I suspect that's the one I would build towards, but I don't have a Fire scrapper yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
And a big plus for me at least, I wouldn't have to whip out those silly fire sword things. I mean seriously, If I can control fire to that extent, I'd make something way more bad [censored] than a sword. Like....fire nunchuks hehe. -
Ok scratch that, I got it to 282.5 but still, that's kinda far from 314 haha
-
[ QUOTE ]
Shred Monkey uses Blinding Feint -> Ablating Strike -> Sweeping Strike -> Ablating Strike. To run it gapless requires +314% recharge, but it'll still do amazing things at +279% recharge (two ticks of delay in the chain). I wouldn't bother below that, as the Achilles' Heel stacking starts dropping off.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good god, i'd like to see that build, it's all I can do to get it up to around 271 recharge in mids -
Biggest problem I have with click mez protect powers is that I cant have them and hasten on auto. So im inevitably forgetting to fire one of them off, either of which will bone me in the...well, bad place to be boned.

Dark melee?? last time I played DM damage was horrible, did they buff it or something?
Thanks for the info, and yea I seen lots of elec/therm and sonic/therms
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, they really frontloaded the damage on midnight grasp a little while ago
