I think electric control competes with Illusion in terms of the strongest soft control set. Maybe earlier on, EC is better, but as IC matures, I think it is more effective end game.

How are you going to rate them? Just by overall feel?

Thank you for all the replies! I stopped looking for a day or two after the third post and now I have useful information!
Anywho, my build is Demon Summoning/Storm Summoning. Currently, I have all the whip attacks and my Ember Demon. I realized a bit late that I should have grabbed my upgrade in exchange for maybe snow storm, but I'll have to pick it up along the way. Though it's difficult at times, once I get at least some DO slotting going, I should be able to pick up the pace. Accuracy and damage (more so, accuracy) are the issues with the whips atm, but Ember is nice because I can either grab the aggro with his buffs or let him do it while I whip the mob.
Thanks for giving your opinion on this controversial subject! Very insightful post Jade! -
I respecced out of my demonlings and took my 3 whip attacks and some other secondary powers and swiftness. I am going to take my ember demon and see how this build does solo. If worst comes to worst, I can always pick it up along the way.
Has anyone have success with such a build? -
So, school starts for me in 10 days and I'm focusing on it (maybe besides a PSP game I'm waiting for) after it starts, and I'd really like to avoid the trap I fall into of wasting my time making lowbies. Albeit, I don't mind making a lowbie, but if I do I want to be able to play it to a decent level and enjoy it and not just discard it and start over.
So, I've been forum surfing for quite awhile now and I've set my sights on a Controller, Dominator, or Mastermind. I may just stick to my MM and/or Controller which are at 50, but could you all present to me some ideas for these AT's that you found oddly enjoyable or unique?
At the moment, I have made a Elec/Earth Dominator in Praetoria and was having a fine time with him, though I heard Static Field (or w/e the recovery aura is) makes the set feel more secure, so I will get to that when I can. My Controller is an Ill/Kin at 50, so maybe some slotting suggestions or playstyle recommendations would be nice.
Finally, a Demon/Storm MM that is close to 12. Playstyle tips are appreciated here.
tldr:Really, just anything to do with Dominators, Controllers, and Demon MM's is appreciated. Things you all may have found unique or personally enjoyable. -
Their the two melee sets, ironically. But, Necro would be the way to go. Grave Knights do have a habit of gimping themselves at range.

Spectral Terror (Illusion Control)
Theirs something about you, my love. Something about you being perma the first time we meet, something about you being accurate without slotting. That little feeling I get when I see you fear exactly what I aggroed.
Doesn't get much better. Love this power, its served me well, levels 26-40 especially. -
Quote:I'd go with 16.i dont mind getting a basically free respec, i just wish it wasnt so late in the game, i mean 24 is almost halfway through your playthrough experience with them, and the only way to go through without a respec is run every arc in ouro (since you get your upgraded VEAT powers still)
i do understand the need for the thematic respec and such, but 24 is way to late IMHO, it should be more like 12 when your forced to respec -
Any immobilization or hold negates knockback. I think. I might have knocked back someone in school of sharks before. But ideally, thats the gist.

Quote:To me, it sounds like your issue is with the playerbase rather then the devs. Just because some people are addicted to the thrill of leveling at abnormal paces means that the devs should just not include something that other people would make the correct use of?Let's face it, the majority of players like to level quickly. NCsoft, by implementing a system that let them tailor-make missions, and making those missions give characters EXP, basically gave them a power leveling tool, regardless of what their intentions were. I refuse to believe NCsoft, being as large an MMO company as they are, didn't see it coming. In fact, if I recall correctly, a post Posi made not long after its implementation actually mentioned that they anticipated it.
The concept of the AE system itself was a good one. The flaw was the EXP rewards. In my opinion, EXP should have been converted in to tickets, rather than tickets taking the place of normal drops.
I know it's subjective. I apologize if I insinuated it was anything other than such.
Sure, I was thinking about making an arc and seeing how much xp I can get out of it, too. But there is much more xp in large teams, for the people who don't have billions to spend on their toons. If you are a solo type of person, making your own arc to level on is fine, I think. It's not an exploit, its making an enviroment that suits your needs.
And then, there are others. People who make an arc for the storyline, feel, and plot. When you can find the combination of good leveling and a fun, well-made plot, it's a great feeling.
I didn't like AE much at first, but I hadn't given it the chance. I really enjoy the possibilities in CoX as a whole, now. -
Moneymakers United is a new SG, on Virtue. It's dedicated to the goal of making an elaborate betting system. Hopefully it works out.

Yeah, I'm just talking about in-game currency, influence and infamy.

Quote:You can probably find some on Youtube, but that's probably the obvious answer.Anyone have links to good videos showing off controllers? I've been recording some stuff, but haven't gotten around to putting together a video yet.
I'd be embarrassed if I recorded my Controller. -
I took /elec. I'm only 14 right now, but its fine so far.
-
Eh. Suppose I should keep my great ideas to myself, then. They made an arena with NPCs all around talking about bets. Its a club, for god sakes. I don't think it would be that big of a deal. I'll do some research, though.
-
Could it work? I was going to try and start this up, gathering a group of pvp fighters, allowing bets depending on the number of spectators. I don't think it wou?d be that difficult, really.

Quote:Thats a 5 letter word.Well, given the lack of response to a direct question, I think it's safe to
infer the word troll, at least...
Great guide, by the way. I just don't understand how the market determines who gets what all the time.
I filter for sales, and sometimes its instant, other times its not. -
The best character I have slotted with IO's is my level 50 Mastermind, and I started that at early 30ish. I'm not sure what the word on the (forum) street is, though.

Quote:Over-generalising doesn't bode well.I had a level 49 Peacebringer that didn't know that KB was knockback and didn't know that it was doing kb.
We had two Archery Blasters on the team trying to use Rain of Arrows and the nimrod kept blasting and breaking them up.
I eventually kicked her. But oh man its frusterating.
We had another one later that was better, but still lots of knockback equals not keeping mobs bunched. -
Quote:Like, a charity fund? Once I get my money making skills together, I planned to do a variety of things. I'll try to help out, when that day comes.I recently received a private message. The private message asked for me to lend 10 Billion Inf to the sender. The sender swore he would earn it back for me. After that, he stated he could make 5B in a week for me.
I expressed my lack of interest in such an exchange.
He sent me a reply asking if there was anything he could do for 3 Billion Inf. I have sent him a response that he could earn the money I have offered to commission some AE arcs. Also, out of the kindness of my own heart and general faith in the charity of my fellow forumites I have started this thread.
This is the "Help People" thread.
Here, players who need Inf help can ask for such help. Hopefully the sender of the private message will be able to find willing and able help in this thread. Feel free to speak up if you need Inf help.
I hope that someone will organize a fund for such endeavors. I am not willing to organize nor facilitate such a fund. However, I am willing to donate hundreds, perhaps even thousands of Inf to the cause. -
Quote:Thanks, I'll try that.Set an evening aside every now and then as 'Experiment Night'.
Make up characters with the intent of deleting them after 2 hours or level 6 or some other early landmark like that. Pick a powerset, general costume theme and name and go. You're just going to run around Atlas or do a sewer run and thats it. Then delete them, no questions asked.
Face the fact before hand that you will earn no permanent XP on a character, or gain any 'worthwhile progress' like you do when you're levelling a serious character. Remind yourself that this doesn't matter - you cant spend XP down the shops in real life or anything. You will be gaining some experience in the common sense of the word though.
You may fall in love with one of these throwaway creations and decide to take them off death row. If so, thats perfectly OK, and mission accomplished! -
Quote:The only Lotr movie I own is Return of the King, haven't even finished the movie yet and I can tell that is fake. The stupider you are, the stupider you think everyone else is.
Just go visit any obviously satyrical Internet article and see how many angry dumb people who don't get the joke are calling the original poster a moron.
lol, Gandalf is based on Dumbledore. Come on now... -
When I want to make a new character, I end up sitting at the creation screen and going through all the ATs and Powersets for about half an hour, and I'm never closer to actually creating. Concepts are the only thing that get me to push forward, but I want to be able to spontaneously create a character and test different combos.
Any tips on overcoming extreme indecisiveness and, to an extent, altaholism? -
Quote:Depends on why they can move their legs faster. The Flash can vibrate his atoms and go through solid object (and people) because of this. So, potentially, super speed could allow people to run through walls. At what point did someone deem it "a must" that characters that have super speed should be able to run up walls, how does the ability to be able to move your legs faster than anyone else make you able to defy gravity?
Hell, Shadowcat moves through solid objects, and she can walk on air.
