Quote:Sounds like a step in the right direction, although I'd prefer a higher hit rate, with perhaps a random range of damage taken per mob.
In I17, the power is getting changed to deal slightly more damage per successful tick (roughly 2.225%) but the big difference is that each tick is going to have a 60% chance to deal damage, compared to the 50% that it currently sits at. Based just off of that, you're going to experience roughly 22.67% more damage out of the power on average.
Quote:You'll also notice fewer cataclysmic misses (if you did, in fact, experience any that weren't just a player issue). -
Anyone else think the top tier DP power needs some buffing?
Two things I've noticed repeatedly while playing my DP blaster:
1. It does not consistently bring down even minions. I'd say about 50 percent of the time, you have several minions still standing with anywhere from 10 to 50% HPs remaining.
2. The accuracy is not where it needs to be. I have it two slotted with accuracy enhancements. I'd say around 25% of the time, there are several mobs standing with zero damage taken. Several times, I've completely missed ALL mobs. Pretty embarrassing when you unload from stealth and all the mobs are still unaware of your presence...
Suggestions:
Increase base accuracy significantly.
Increase damage to where it can consistently take out 100% of a minion's health. -
It would be nice if they'd have in-game jokes similar to guild wars.
Three I remember:
1. Gender swap - go into a major town and your toon changes gender.
2. Stick Man - in town, your toon turns into a stick figure man.
3. This year - your toon is miniaturized, while your mini-pets are huge. -
I'm hoping that if you decide to turn your villain to blue-side ... that the demons turn into something appropriately heroic.
I just can't see a hero using demons... -
Jab immediately comes to mind.
The disorient sounds mildy useful - but I've never seen anything disoriented
by this attack - ever. -
I just had to make a wild west toon. Introducing ... Jonah West:

Well, I just got my replacement card. Everything is running fine so far - so looks like it definitely was a faulty card...
I was thinking about upgrading to a better card for the GR expansion when/if it is released. I have a 425W power supply - just wondering if that will need to be upgraded as well to handle the latest video cards. Also wondering if there would be an issue with my existing hardware if I were to upgrade to say a
550W power supply. -
Quote:I already have a virus scanner installed which keeps itself up to date, nothing has been detected thus far. The scheduled full scan is tomorrow. You could be infected with a virus or other malware.
I'd recommend downloading, installing, and updating Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and then running a full system scan with it.
Once it is done, make sure your antivirus definitions are up to date and run a full Anti-virus scan.
For any further troubleshooting, we'd need more information than you've given.
First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Second, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
I ran another test with Dragon Age: Origins - it is now also crashing. So it's not just a CoH issue. I called Dell, they agreed to send a replacement card. Crossing my fingers.... -
I've had very few problems with CoH until lately. I was leaping through Atlas yesterday when my system crashed (blue screen of death). Note: The same thing happened a couple months ago and eventually cleared up. Cold booted the system a short while ago, and its still crashing, so I dont think its an overheating issue.

Dell XPS 420 with 3gig RAM

NVidia Geforce 8800 GT
I've tried the Dell, Windows, and Nvidia diagnostics. All passed.
Upgraded to the latest Nvidia driver with no effect. Updated my bios per Dell Support's recommendation. No effect. Opened the case and blew out the accumulated dust - no dice.
The crash seems to alternate between CoH just crashing and the OS crash.
Any ideas? The system is only 2 years old - hate to have to purchase a new video card already. I can almost guarantee Dell will blame the issue on the application. -
Disregard the last post - figured it out.

Quote:Ok, I added a slow field to a room that will take it, just as a test. I detect no shimmer effect of any kind. Both power and control appear to be sufficient ( green bar > red bar ) - what am I missing?
2. pool of water is made by your floor colored blue and floating a slow field this must be done in a room however that you can put a slow field into, it is a defensive item. -
Ok, another question. I just spent most of my prestige on rooms. Outside the base, I have 2k prestige left. When I enter the base, it says I have -485k ( negative ). What is up with that?
-
Thanks for all the info. It turned out I was trying to mix tech beacons with arcane teleporters. Could have sworn it worked before, but I could be wrong...
A couple more questions:
1. Is there any trick to make the trees and bushes appear to grow out of the floor? ( I have the Mikazi gravel style colored green, which looks very similar to grass ) I'm going for a wilderness look, and potted bushes and trees just arent quite what I'm looking for...
2. Any way to make a pool of water ... or something that appears to be a pool of water?
3. Is there anything similar to Jay's costume request thread for base items that you'd like to see added? Or are they even working on base items any more? -
Question 1:
I crafted a teleporter and placed 2 beacons nearby and they binded to the teleporter correctly. Then, I deleted both beacons, added 2 new ones, and they refuse to bind to the teleporter.
I re-added the original 2 beacons, they also refuse to bind.
Is this a known bug - if you remove beacons, the teleporter is rendered unusable from that point on? Or is there some trick to get it to reassociate to new beacons?
Question 2:
I've tried to get items to stack like I've seen people mention in some threads, with no luck. Are there only certain item combinations that will stack? Is there a list?
Question 3:
Is there some way to get a long hallway from the entrance room to another room that is "centered"? The connector always wants to go either right or left.
Question 4:
How do you get a ramp to correctly adjoin to a raised portion of the room without losing the "edge". I currently can either leave a small gap to keep the edge or adjoin which leaves a bare section to either side which has a "tech" look. -
I'm also doing something similar with one of my toons, and have a question.
Are there certain requirements that have to be met before you can add teleporters? The only one I currently see listed is the raid teleport. -
Quote:I'm a bit disappointed. THE major weakness of this game is the repetitiveness of the maps both in regular content and in MA. At the very least, it should be possible to take existing map layouts and retile them...
3. Can we have our own map editor?
The creation of a map editor would require work on a scale greater than Mission Architect, so I'm going to go ahead and say that this will not happen. There are a lot of complications that would go into this - are the maps stored like bases? How would spawns work? How long would it take players to download the maps that are created? How big would we allow maps to be? These are just some of the initial questions that pop into my head, all of which don't have an easy answer - all of it would involve a major amount of work to get this in for Architect.
I would hope you would at least consider some level of costumization, even if it's just tilesets, object placement, and lighting on existing maps. -
When will we have the ability to design our own custom maps ( along with custom tile sets, object placement, lighting, and mob placement ) ?
-
I have to agree with the OP. We need Revolutionary War and Civil War era military costume pieces. There is already an abundance of martial arts specific costume pieces...
-
Thanks everyone who voted for my arc, I really appreciate it.
And congrats to all the other winners and runners-up ... some really awesome arcs. -
1. A Ranger/Beastmaster Power Set - probably for controllers, although I could see it being a blaster set as well.
2. /signed on the car surfing idea. I've tried that periodically since the inception of the game.
3. Fix the BUG where civilians are constantly pushing you around. Very annoying.
4. Let my invuln tanker stand in front of a train or car and actually stop it in its tracks.
5. Constantly changing weather patterns.
6. /signed on the personal living quarters/base idea.
7. New mission types/features: Special ambushes, attack waves, double group missions ( featured in guild wars ), permanent dungeons, etc.
8. Player settable lighting effects in MA missions. ( per room )
9. Player selectable spawn points for bosses, glowies, etc. in MA
10. Player selectable day/night settings in MA outdoor maps.
11. Player selectable weather effects in MA outdoor maps. ( also should be triggerable )
12. Player designable bank missions in MA.
13. Allow users to go to other zones via a clickable button on the map vs using the train. ( can be contingent on complete exploration of said map or level based )
14. Enhance the current holiday celebrations that we currently have. Take a look at guild wars and see how they decorate the towns. It makes the CoH spawns seem a bit lame.
15. Ridable mounts, vehicles, etc.
16. Underwater zones, exploration, swimming. -
A permanent jetpack power. Be nice to free up a power for something else on some toons....
-
1. Dynamic Zones where your faction (Hero/Villain) is always fighting against the enemy faction(s) for control of buildings/areas. ( Proposed this a long time ago )
Faction flags would appear on buildings that they control. ( i.e. Nemesis, 5th Column, Aracnos, etc. )
2. Ability to design maps in AE.
3. New zones that do not have the random mission paradigm that the game currently has, and where each door is not a totally random portal to a random map.
4. Totally New citys, each as large as Paragon City, and all with their own factions. ( London/British, Los Vegas/Western, Oriental, French, etc. )
Yeah, this could be considered "more", so what. -
I enjoy teaming at times, but ( outside of TFs or AV arcs ) it should be optional. Didnt see anyone else spamming for a ToT team, and I generally dont enjoy forming teams. The bosses are too much for certain builds. I didnt have much difficulty with my lev 15 brute, but the lev 10 troller just couldnt cut it.
-
After about the 6th death on my level 10 troller, I finally gave up trick or treating.
Suggestion: Limit the "trick" spawns in the lowbie zones to Lieutenants and minions.
With a few exceptions, a lev 10 character soloing a Boss isnt doable, especially bosses with major debuffs/DOTs, combined with other mobs that also debuff. As it stands, ToT seems to be limited to high level characters that can effectively solo, or teams.
