I use the term Pet to describe an action taking place outside of the power itself. Not as a Mastermind Pet or a Controller Pet. Please learn the difference.
I can use the term car to describe a vehicle that travels in the air but that does not make it right. There are attacks that summon a pet that does the damage like Lightning rod and have different damage caps because they are pets in addition to MM pets and such. Please learn the difference.
  2. Correct. No pet mechanic at work, just bonus damage.

    May be thinking of burn.
  3. I would be more worried about your endurance. I have a SS/Fire that is about half a point of end/second less and I still run low while farming. Hasten crashes, rage crashes and quick charging aoe attacks all drain that blue bar in a hurry. Consume is helpfull but you will still be chewing blues like there is no tommorrow.

Also I would not bother with the proc in Blazing aura. It only has a chance to proc every 10 seconds in toggles.

On some of my toons I just haven't gotten around to it. And yes, I am going to tell you that I can't figure out which 3 powers to pick. With no extra slots to spend on them, there's not much of interest. For my Elec/Elec Blaster, for instance, there's not much that's very interesting from his primary or secondary. I guess he could pick up Zapp for pulls, or Voltaic Sentinel for kicks. But nothing that matters enough for me to respec immediately. My Inv/SS Tanker is another matter. Inherent Fitness allowed him to take Resist Elements and Resist Energies, along with Laser Beam Eyes because I didn't have anything else I wanted to take and it's a cool power.

Seriously, lighten up. There's a whole world of difference between not taking Dull Pain on your Invuln Tanker and not respeccing from Legacy Fitness into Inherent Fitness.

Would also be nice to be able to hover your mouse over the enhancement to see what they do. You know, like it does when you buy enhancements in AE and how it used to do anywhere else?

Granted I know it is color coded, but some of us are color blind and get tired of right clicking and looking at info every time they want to buy an enhancement at a store.

Except that one uses a limited resourse. Once you have all the silver in the world (not an easy task) you would be able to set the price as high as you want and no one could ever compete with you. Alchemical Silver however, will still continue to drop from mobs and people can still use AE tickets to get some as well. No amount of in game money will prevent others from bypassing your supply thereby making it impossible for a monopoly.

Making a store to sell common salvage at 10k or 5 merits or dome other set price would go a long way to allowing people who like to craft not be at the mercy of the 'haves' who monopolize specific goods in the market to price gouge the general populous.

Setting a fixed price for common salvage would also leave room with uncommon, rare and the other types of items sold for those who do like to do market wars with each other to gouge away till no one has an eye left.

I do sell my recipe drops, my salvage etc. Doesnt mean I like having to spend the time doing it to enjoy other parts of the game. I'd like to outfit a number of my characters in common IO's. Making the Inf to do so by playing market shenanigans is not fun for me, and as is evident in this thread not fun for a number of other people as well.

I was never particularly rich with playing WOW either. Despite that I could easily go farm the raw materials I needed to craft goods. Finding certain ore types could be a pain... but you could do it.
Yea I totally agree. Maybe they could set it up so you could get some random common salvage from AE for like 8 tickets or something cheep like that. They could even make it better by letting you pick the specific level range and type.

    Suppression, High damage cone
    Frenzy, moderate damage PbAoE
Omega maneuver, summoned bomb, superior damage
Ball lightning, moderate damage ranged attack / OR Bile spray, toxic cone
    Static discharge, moderate damage cone

Throw in 'call reinforcements' which brings in not just ranged AoE blasts x2, but ranged immobilizes to hold things for AoE's. (which you can do too.)

Most of these recharge fast enough that you can chain them

Number of AoE powers does not always mean the best. You can do some crazy things with high recharge and an attack chain of Footstomp, burn and fireball.

Although Venom grenade, ball lightning frag grenade and frenzy can be pretty nuts as well.
  8. I have hasten 3 slotted, 160% global recharge (with hasten) and the third tier Spiritual with 33% recharge bonus and am right at perma hasten; there is a split second of overlap with 0 down time as long as I am not hit with slows.
  9. If weave is your only means of defense then yea, you will not notice much difference if you get rid of it. However, as stated already, if you have decent numbers already, that 5-7% can make a big difference.

There is a reason people will pay 2billion plus for an IO that can give them 3% defense.

  12. I cant remember my first actual toon, but the first one I stuck with was a Claw/Regen scrapper. I was so bad *** I could have 2 people pad my missions on the highest difficulty and still live, rawr.

Im not a big fan of purple sets either tbh, far too expensive for the gains. i can understand the quest for max recharge, but when hunting def, they dont help too much.
Making the best farmer is not about hunting for defense. It is about AoE damage and getting those AoE attacks to recharge as fast as possible.

So far I've farmed about 3 bill and have all non-purp sets in my build completed. I don't want to bother recording my numbers until I get mu, which I will tonight. But from a pure anecdotal standpoint, I'm probably make a 200-300 million inf per hour in just kills plus another 300 mill off the the stack of 999 tickets(roll for bronze 10-14, get many +recovery/regen plus various other defense based sets that sell well, sell for 30-40mil ea, profit..)

Comparable gains in core don't come close, especially when you look at the fact that not only do I get the set bonus but also the set enhancements "frankenslot" the powers in which they reside in, bringing acc/damage/endrux/recharge all to or close to EDD limits.
Yea, your numbers are a bit fuzzy. To get 200 mil an hour, just off kills, you would need to average 3.3 mil per min. With 0 down time from zoning.

This isn't about an artist or studio creating and selling a comic book with a lead character who bares fur and claws and a costume closely resembling wolverine. It's people making characters in a video game with a character creation tool, which certainly is not limited to CoH.

Actually this thread specifically is only dealing with character names, which has nothing to do with anyone making character clones or not.
Only if they are aware of it, yes. While the players cannot be held liable, NCsoft can if they know about a violation and do nothing about it.
  17. The lazy way is to fill up your tray with lucks and always keep 4 running with 0 defense and have a macro for converting everything else to reds. The not so lazy way is to build some defense in your build and then you don't have to worry so much about getting hit. But that tends to make it slightly more difficult to get to the crazy levels of recharge needed for an attack chain of Footstomp, Burn, Fireball.

No it does not. Forgot about that and too lazy to figure out the numbers.

OK I got unlazy. Another correction as well. I forgot about the ranged and pet purples that have HP bonuses. You can have 2 ranged attacks depending on your primary and 1 pet so adding those in there and the Spiritual Core, the most I was able to come up with was 3008.45. That is theroetical cap. It would be a pretty gimp build offensivly if you actually attained that many HP.

As I posted in Novella's post, I have been able to get 80.4 regen rate, 2652 HP and 34-38% on all def -Psionic.

The main reason I ask this is so I can tough it out against the mobs that have -def powers like Arachnos, LB and w/e else comes my way. Thanks in advance.
Capped regen cannot be done on any type of WP solo and capped HP cannot be done on WP brutes solo.

Capped HP would be 3212 and with 5x every HP bonus out there and all the +HP accolades you would max out at 2838 and that is with 6 heal IOs in HPT. Anything over 2600 HP is quite respectable.

If you have a team-mate who has blue colored powers similar to the spear's color, ask them to switch to a costume without those power-colors. If the team-mate refuses, ask the leader to kick said team-mate for griefing. Again, this is a problem that can be worked around.
It is not a bug having a color that some people cannot see well. If a team-mate has powers colored the same color, they are not griefing you. On my toons with different costumes, the color of my powers are all the same, so shouild I be kicked from the team because someone else cannot see them well?

Mind you, this is coming from someone who is color blind and I have never been able to see the spear attack until it hits. I have just learned to attack and move, attack and move even on my brutes. It is my problem to deal with, and I think it is just plain stupid to think that other people are trying to make things harder on me because of it.

Because teams are likely to roll through foes faster than a single player is, the mob defeat rate is probably higher and thus the shard drop rate per player is probably higher on a team, even though the drop probabilities are fixed. (A team may also be more likely to fight more bosses and LTs, who have higher shard drop probabilities, which would basically translate into a higher drop probability while on a team.)
Along those same lines, TFs have more EBs and AVs than normal content so they tend to have more shard drops vs normal team content.

    Shard drop rates

Data samples listed here are not even close to being enough. Run a couple hundred TFs, counting the number of minions, LT, bosses, EBs and AVs killed and have someone else do the same and if your numbers are vastly different then there is an issue.

Although it is odd, I have also noticed frequently getting a shard right at the begining of the first mish of most TFs as well.

  24. That is the map I normally use as well. Not looking for arc number or anything but does someone know of another map that works better? By that I mean something like, unique maps, outdoor, city number 17 or something like that.

With that one you tend to get pushed around alot and end up next to a wall most of the time. While that probably does not make a difference for the powers with a 15' radius, it can slightly slow things down with other powers if they are not hitting the target cap.

Ambush farms have been around for many months and are not breaking any rules. At least not the ones I have seen. Granted they may not following the "spirit" of AE but the devs are well aware of them and discussion here, I doubt will provide them with any more knowledge than they already have.
