Actually, Cobra Commander was originally a candidate for this election. Unfortunately, he had to withdraw when rumors surfaced that he had an affair with Lady Jaye. He even held a press conference to announce the end of his campaign and clamed he plans to spend more time with Baroness and his henchmen.

There have been times when I've been playing a 30-something level character and run out of Patrol XP while I'm still a long ways from the level I want to get to. So I've debated whether or not to log that character out for a few days to build up more, but this power would give me a reason to keep on playing.
So I see some value to it. -
Quote:Yeah, there's a new Legion of Super-Heroes book and they also restarted Adventure Comics which currently has Legion stories in it (and a good back-up with The Atom). It features the pre-Zero Hour Legion from before you started to read them. Gates and XS are currently around though XS will probably be seen more in the Flash-related stories than with the Legion.Eh?? When did they relaunch the Legion?? I was a huge legion fan in the 90's, right after the Zero hour relaunch, (with newer names, and new guys like that Flash Girl XS, was her name? ect) then they ended.. relaunched... as kind of jerky kids IIRC, but it got better... then, they ended... right? Now this? Are they new and different then before again??
If you're interested in learning more about this new/old Legion, here's some trades you might want to check out:
The Lightning Saga
Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes
Legion of Three Worlds (Don't be scared about it being part of the Final Crisis event... it really wasn't)
After that, they tried to restart the Legion as a back-up in the new Adventure Comics series, but it only lasted a couple issues before there was a creative team shift. As luck would have it, DC's president and former Legion writer Paul Levitz stepped down to become a writer again. So he picked it up and started this new Legion series while also writing Legion stories in Adventure comics.
I'm really enjoying the Legion stories right now. I think it's a good time to be a Legion fan. -

DC Comics is letting readers vote for the new leader of the Legion of Super-Heroes (which used to be a big tradition in the past).
They've set up a website for people to cast their votes.
It's kinda fun that we get a say in who leads the team. And the writer, Paul Levitz, has to figure out how to make it work, which can sometimes turn into a cool story he wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
So if you're interesting, head on over and vote.
And Long Live the Legion!
EDIT: DC has a post about this election on their blog. -
I tried doing Trick or Treating solo in Praetoria on a level 6 Corruptor. When I got a Trick, I never saw a 3 minion spawn. I kept getting 2 Lts, 1 Boss or 1 Boss and 1 Lt together. It was way too much for that character to handle.
So I don't know if I was just having bad RNG luck or if the Praetoria T&T event still needs tweaking. I sent in a bug report regardless.
How is Praetoria Trick or Treating going for everyone else? -
I'm concentrating on all the Praetorians I made and I'm resting my 50s for the moment. I'll concentrate on my 50s again when we get the Incarenate stuff, so it's good to devote some time to my lowbies.

That's one of the things I love about the Lamda Sector in Neutropolis. Parts of it look like a normal suburban neighborhood (though a bit roughed up). I love all the small touches it has like that gas station. I hope we see something like that in a new Paragon City zone sometime.

Have you mentioned this in the Lost Costume Pieces thread?

Quote:I don't think the zone events will allow us to attack other players. It sounds like you choose which NPC groups to attack. Like for the Nova Praetoria Protest event, if you choose Loyalist you can attack the protestors. If you pick Resistance you can attack the PPD that are trying to stop the protestors. One thing I'm not sure I've missed or haven't seen mentioned but in the Praetorian Zone Events, where there are 2 sides you can take, does that turn into a PVP event or will you be in a different instance depending on your choice or will it be PVE but you can't target players of a different choice etc etc?
And I really like that the game will track not only how much damage you do in the events, but also any healing, buffing, etc. and give rewards based on all of it. That's an awesome idea! -
Okay, watching the videos War Witch did say "closed beta" starts next week and not open beta. So we jumped the gun on that.
-
All of that just blew my mind! Beta next week (though it's closed, not open)? Awesome! New travel powers? Double Awesome! Praetorian Epic ATs? *mindblown*

Quote:Heh. I have a Fire Melee character that I'd like to see most of his attacks use fire swords. Hopefully when they get around to the new melee animations, both of us will get our wish.I'm a little sad that fire melee didn't get alternate animations...I want to make a fire scrapper who doesn't use swords.
-
I'm sure there will be new animations for the melee sets soon. Maybe they figured since Super Strength and Martial Arts got new animations last time that they should focus on ranged sets this time.

It's mostly about Mission Architect and he gives a cryptic hint about upcoming Guest Authors. It's very nice to see CoH getting this kind of coverage. -
Mandu, I think you're reading WAY too much into CoH not being part of the NCSoft booth. I think NCSoft might've been focusing on Guild Wars 2 for this convention or something.

Quote:Yeah, I19 is just the Alpha Slot, but now it has a storyarc that you do to unlock it and then you can do the Alpha Strike Task Force with it. The next part of the Incarnate System will be I20.You know, a question just occurred to me and I don't recall having seen an answer in here (or elsewhere). Do we know for sure if I19 is going to be just the alpha slot, or is it going to be the the alpha slot and then the things we were originally told were going to be in I19 like the content for that alpha slot and then a couple other slots/content for them?
Some comments I've seen here seem to indicate it's going to be just the alpha slot, which could be a little disappointing depending on how it's implemented. The answer might be in that youtube video, but that ringing noise makes my ears want to shoot me repeatedly in the brain for clicking on that link. -
I braved the painful squeak on the video to find out more details on I19. Not only does it have the Alpha Strike Task Force, but the unlocking of the Alpha Slot is now in a story arc. Both of those are from player feedback from the beta.
I was okay with the Alpha unlock and doing current TFs to get salvage (I haven't done most of the high level TFs), but I'm excited that we're getting a story to go along with unlocking the Alpha Slot. Thank you devs! -
Quote:In the comics, Apex kept saying he wanted armor. So I don't think it's a bad idea to put Apex in armor, I just don't think the Vanguard armor is the best option for him.Totally agreed.
The Vanguard armor looks good with certain color combinations... and the red/blue on that picture of 'new' Apex looks horrid. He honestly looks as bad as the Merit Vendors (who I swear were designed using "Random").
Keep his established look. Just because he's helping Vanguard doesn't mean he has to dress in their armor. Case in point... ALL THE CONTACTS IN RWZ. None of them wear Vanguard armor. -
I'm guessing that sometimes, yes, that's how it ends up. It's called feature-creep. There's always more features and content you can add, but you have to have a cut-off point if you want to get anything released to the players.
There was probably lots of stuff the devs wanted to include in Going Rogue but they just didn't have time to add it before release. -
Quote:This is my speculation as well. When the Alpha Slot was pulled, one of the things Posi (I think) said was that they might release it as a mini-issue or something. So I'm guessing that I19 is now the Alpha Slot, the content connected to it, and whatever else is ready for release (tip missions, fitness, etc).Sounds like Issue 19 is like Issue 15 and will go directly to Open Beta.
And I'm also guessing that what was planned for I19 has been moved back to I20. If that's the case, then it's good for several reasons. Like, we get I19 earlier than we probably would've before and this would give the devs more time to get the next Incarnate phase ready.
But that's just my speculation. -
On some of my characters, I've never taken the Fitness pool, so it looks like they're getting a boost.
On the character that have taken Fitness, I guess this gives me an opportunity to check out the other Pool powers that I've never been able to fit in.
All in all, improvements all around for our characters! Yay! -
I see Apex finally got some armor. http://twitpic.com/2l8n5a

Hopefully someone is kind enough to post/twit some of the announcements and highlights. I can already tell that I'm going to get nothing done on Saturday other than constantly refreshing my internet browser.
