Here is how I would rank the sets that I have played (I haven't leveled up SD or SR yet)

With just SO's or common IO's:
    Stone Armor
    Willpower
    Invulnerability
    Fiery Aura
    Dark Armor
    Energy Aura
    Electric Armor

    With IO sets:
    Stone Armor
    Energy Aura
    Willpower
    Invulnerability
    Electric Armor
    Fiery Aura
    Dark Armor

I am sure SD and SR rank some where in there, but I haven't leveled either very far yet. As for how I ranked the others, that is just my opinion and from personal play experience. I am sure my impression was also colored by my primary choice as well.

    Farming Brute

Builds that can solo AV's generally aren't as good at farming, EB's won't be a problem though. Fire/SD will probably run out of endurance long before you can kill an AV.

As for farming it should do just fine. FSC is a great AOE and you also have Shield Charge.
  3. I have an EM/Elec brute I have been playing around with a defense build on and I have never been happy with it. I feel to get to a significant level of defense I have to give up too much. I respecced him last night to add energize in and now I feel that all the defense may not be necessary. I now plan on building for +recharge, +hp, and +regen instead.

As for that build it has way more purples and pvp sets in it than I would ever try to get. Maybe you can afford all those, I know I can't.

    Fury

As the brute I feel that I set the pace of the team. If I can take the incoming damage or have good support then the team needs to keep up. In my 3+ years that seems to be how villain side teams work, they are generally fast paced. This is one of the reasons I just don't like hero side as much, teams tend to be slower and pause after mobs. Of course if you get ahead of your team and can't handle the mobs then you should slow down a little. Fury is not something I worry about a whole lot, I find it is always there when I need it.
  5. I think most of what you are seeing is just from everybody doing ToT and not missions. Try moving to another zone or entering a mission and see if the lag goes away. That is what I found to be the case last night. If I tried to ToT in Grandville the lag was terrible, but everywhere else there just wasn't a problem. I have only played on Virtue and Freedom lately so I can't say if the lower pop servers are the same.
  6. I was in Grandville last night and did notice significant lag while trying to ToT. I did see a lot of others doing the same so the zone may have just been close to full. I moved to RWZ and the lag was all but gone. I have a pretty fast computer with 8 gig of ram, so when I see lag it is normally server side.
  7. Have they fixed the spawn rates of the Ghosts this time around?
  8. I actually like it. You should get all the debt badges easily to.

You should be around sailors! They wouldn't know how to talk if they couldn't use f*** or m-f in every sentence. I spent 6 years as one and really had to make an effort to clean up my speech when I got out.
  10. I agree that this would be very nice to have. Most other games let you transfer between characters and I don't see why it would be a problem here.

I have a second account that I use and only subscribe a couple months a year on it.
  11. I have noticed this with Carnies lately, but I guess I don't mind. I play Brutes all the time and most of them can handle it just fine. I do feel your pain though and you shouldn't have to change to the no boss option, but you do have that option for any mission since changing difficulty doesn't cost inf anymore.

I run my WM/EA at +2/x8. He's STRONG and kills PRETTY darn fast.
  13. I have tried a few of my brutes since I16

50 Stone/Stone - +2/x8 was very easy, will try upping this one some more, but kill speed may suffer at higher setting.

50 WM/EA - +2/x8 is where i have settled with this one. Also very easy and kills much faster than the stone armor one.

42 DB/Invuln - +1/x4 is where I am currently. I don't have everthing slotted where I want it yet, so I should be able to up this one later.

50 Elec/Fire - +0/x8 seems to work well for this one. I tried increasing the level but had times healing flames just wasn't ready in time. Things do die fast, but have to be very active and pay close attention.

    I haven't tried my Fire/DA, DM/WP, EM/Elec, or my SS/WP yet
  14. Don't think he was talking about the AV, but running the liberate tv farm against nemisis.

There has been a real shortage of guides since IO's came out. Normally if you want build help just post a build and someone will come by and tell you how to improve it or give you a new build. I do this frequently myself.
  16. I have an elec/fire brute and find it much easier to farm CoT with him. CoT do a lot of fire damage and plays to your strength. I doubt I would try the Nem farm solo though I have run it as a non alpha taking brute.
  17. I'll be framing up an addition on the house, but I will log in at least a couple hours each day.

    New Ideas

I have been having a lot of fun with my DB/Invuln. DB is a lot of fun and now that I have reached 30 Invuln is starting to really shine.

I wouldn't try it myself. IMO you need all the armor toggles in DA, the mitigation toggles are optional and a matter of taste. If you are worried about DA's heavy end use that mainly comes form Death Shroud and Cloak of Fear.
  20. You scored 93.94% of the possible points for this test.

The defense debuff question got me and I should know better. Guess it has been way too long since I played my Ill/Rad!
  21. My Fire/Dark gains the most from having a /kin around. The limitless endurance lets me just go all out.

Hello my name is Darth and Im an Altaholic.
I get a lot more use out of burn on my elec/fire brute. On the brute I have an AoE immob to actually lock the mobs down that is not available to tankers.

Burn can still be a good damage power even without a way to lock everything down as most mobs run out of it but turn around and run right back in.

edit: one of my favorite things to do with my fire/ice tank was team with a stone tank and let him grab aggro with mudpots. Once he had the aggro I could drop burn and the mobs didn't run out of it while aggoed to him. Not sure if it was a bug, but it sure made us very effective.
  23. This tank may just be jealous that as an Ill/Rad you can tank better than he can. My Ill/Rad normally pushes aside slow tanks and just kills the mobs by myself. This guy really doesn't know what he is missing.

    Burn/Ice Patch

Fire/Ice Tank can be somewhat of a one trick pony. You will spend a lot of time herding to get optimum use form IP/Burn.

I have had a lot of success with mine even against EB's, so ST damage is still good. I really enjoyed mine with the exception of the first 20 levels, up till then it was just pitiful and a chore to play. After that I took off and had a blast.

I ran my elec/fire brute against Longbow at +1/x8, I had to be very active and pay close attention but it was doable. I had t pay very close attention and hit my heal every time it was up but they died very quickly once I herded them up and used burn on them.
