Did you actually mention when you joined the league that you'd never done it before? Maybe it's a server thing, but I've usually found people to be very helpful with explanations.

  6. My new secondary account went Premium and has 2 tokens when it should have 3 (account + 1 month VIP + GR code applied before Freedom went live). I'm hoping the AWOL token will show up on the 28th, the date when I was promised the Tokens for my other account, which actually showed up a few days ago. If they don't, I'm not even sure I can summon the enthusiasm to try to get CS to sort it out.

I'm cringing with second-hand embarassment for whoever was responsible for coding this mess.

I don't know about 'all the best administration programmes', but empirical evidence suggests they teach it in most of the other administration programmes.

Actually, I blame 'Star Trek', and every other show in which an engineer tells the Captain it will take twelve hours to do something, and the Captain gives a Serious Frown, tells them they have six, and it works.
  8. Fire/Kins are a good traditional farming choice that are popular in part because you can get a decent build for relatively little inf (no point in pouring billions of inf into a character that's supposed to be generating inf, not sucking it up).

Producing the exact result you need in search can be a bit finickey at times. I suggest you go to the Advanced search page and plug in "fire/kin"+cheap+build, set the forum to the top level AT section, and the time range to 'any', and check out the results. Someone even put a couple of cheap builds on the new build forum.

Remember that you can pick up any specific very expensive IOs by buying them with Hero or Villain Merits.

Read the episode recaps on TWoP. That's been my only contact with House since the start of season four.

I'm not sure what the CoX equivalent would be. Cancel the sub and just check the forums occasionally?

Many wouldn't bother with even that.
I enjoy BAF, Lambda and Keyes. UG I can take or leave, mostly because the endless corridors make me a little motion sick after a while. If they trimmed some of the corridors, then I'd be happy with that, too.

My main character has stacks of unused salvage, threads and A-merits from 'unnecessary' runs (I blew all the E-merits on auras and CC emotes I'll probably never use). I think it's a pity that the Trials aren't fun for everyone, but, selfishly, I'm really happy that the Incarnate system as we have it now exists, because I get a lot of fun out of it. I hope that they'll chose to broaden the appeal by adding *extra* stuff for people who don't like the Trials, rather than take away or radically changing things I like to play.
  11. Due to (still ongoing) problems the devs had with the Reward Token scheme, the Tokens for paid time are being given out at the end of each subscribed month. Although even this seems to be a little buggy at the moment. Supposedly, they're still working on it.

You will have one additional Global Character slot for each full 12 months you were subscribed before Freedom launched. So if you're on Tier 6, it sounds like you ought to have a few -- check a character for the global anniversary badges. For each badge, you'll get one extra slot.

I was specifically told by a support GM that I would get my September token on October 28th and then my October token on November 28th. My sub renewal date is the 9th of the month.
  13. Have you considered a temporary home on a former EU server? Roll up a new character or two on Defiant or Union, and get your teaming fix there when your brother isn't playing. If you end up really liking the character, you'll have a use for a VIP server transfer when you go home.
  14. Looking for a cheap copy of Going Rogue is a good idea.

Otherwise, if they're really enjoying the game so far, I'd still suggest buying a three-month sub. Because:

    - It gives a nice little discount on the monthly rate (I can't find the US rates, but the UK is £7.99 per month rather than £8.99).
    - They can try all aspects of the game, including lots of slots to try out different characters, all the ATs, AE, etc, and then have an informed basis for deciding what parts they think are worth spending points on in the future.
    - They'll have access to all channels etc for the duration of the sub, plus three tokens waiting when they're downgraded which will get them a fair way towards unlocking all channels permanently.
    - They'll accumulate 1200PP, which they can use at the end of the three months to buy access to some of the stuff they want to keep, or for licenses.

IO sets don't *need* to be replaced in any case, at least in the sense that they don't go red. I slot up my characters with IO sets around the mid-30s, and I never replace them. The values are close enough to the level 50 values that I've never seen the point in it.
  16. Of course, if you don't intend to run any Incarnate Trials more than once, then the higher tiers become less interesting to you, anyway. Only one level shift applies outside the trials, which you can get that with a Tier 3 Alpha. That can be filled with components from high level TFs and the Weekly Strike Force, and shards from all content.

    So I would say:

    - Open the Alpha slot ASAP on a character, to start benefitting from shard drops.
    - Use shards and TF components eventually to create an Alpha Tier 3 of your choice.
    - Run each Trial once, and then at the end of it see what you have unlocked, and how you want to spend the components earned.
  17. I played through First Ward starting at level 20, on a Mind/Psi Dom which makes it pretty easy on +0/x0. I only died a handful of times, mostly from getting careless, trying to stealth missions with Sleep and not paying attention. For the final encounter, I just downed a boatload of insps.

I thought the storyline was a pretty decent RPG game in parts (although I enjoyed the first half more than the second half), but maybe not such a great options for teams. Rather too many talkie missions chained together early on, and a fair few missions later where you have to bounce between contacts to talk to them, which drives me NUTS when I HAVE THEIR PHONE NUMBER. I would've liked the gamer guy a lot more if I hadn't had to keep running to his tower to see him.

I'm kind of torn between 'Dude, that has never worked in the history of forums, and it won't work now' and admiration for your faith in your players.

By 'the promotional hype', you mean the informal comment someone made in the U-Stream chat? Because I don't think I remember up-front Tokens being used in any actual promotional material for Freedom.

As I understand it, the Guides forum is an organizational issue, in that the contents of that forum are excluded from purges of old threads. So, while it's a nuisence in that the Guide to Guides posts need to be constantly updated, it's better than the alternative of losing the guides themselves if they were spread over forums that are purged.

I didn't see a link to the Purple patch explanation above, so there it is.

Assuming the level 50 characters had at least their Tier 3 Alphas slotted, then at +4/x8 they were fighting enemies at +3 levels to them, while you were fighting +5. As you can see from the numbers, that's a pretty big difference.

It bothered me that I had to spend endless missions bouncing back and forth between the girl and the guy on top the skyscraper, and the women in the graveyard (one of whom turned out to be a guy in a robe when I stopped and read the dialogue a little more closely). Does that count?
