Quote:Don't need MOAR recharge?....*edit* As I don't have Mids at work I can't say the exact amount in my new build, but I'll have between 208% and 211% global rech which, while only tenths of a second over perma PA made the Tarantula Perma with 2 seconds or so to spare using only 4 expedient reinforecement, you definitely don't need even more recharge to do that on your build Griff, I also use the dmg\debuff alpha, so even that isn't contributing.
*wheeze* *huff*
Panic attack!
*huff*
Can't breathe!
*hack*
But if I don't find a way to get moar recharge ninjas will kidnap the president! I need to be a bad dude!
And Fritz, you are a pet pusher!lol.
-
I feel your pain Fritz. I have been beating myself up over the exact same issue now for weeks. Currently I'm running Ill/Rad/Fire with 218% recharge and while it is awesomely fun, I cant help but get that yearning for just one more pet!
Just one more! I promise I'll stop after that! (until the incarnate pet comes out one day)
that and with my present build if i take out fireblast/fireball/rise of the phoenix, and replace it with poison ray, scorpion shield, and tarantula i can change out my decimation and posiblast sets that currently give me recharge for a decimation in ray, use the shield for a lotg mule, and slot at least 4 expedient reinforcments into tarantula for slightly more recharge. Pushing it hopefully over 220% global. Im at work and dont have mids right now and will check it later but I think that if I'm sporting 220% recharge global and have spiritual in alpha slot then thats gonna be perma on tarantula. -
Quote:From what I've gotten from this thread is, that while yes anyone can do the Apex and complete it with standard tactics (its not that hard of a TF to get masters on), this is another way of doing it. And frankly it sounds fun. I can't wait to track down Dechs and try it out over on Virtue. If anything it'll spice up the humdrum TF grind that has been going on since i19 came out. But then again, this is coming from the guy who got the exploration badge under Hamidon by having a buddy teleport my dead body into the sky and try and fall onto the badge marker. (got it on our 27th attempt im proud to sayI've been on mostly melee teams that have taken BM down fast enough to recieve the badge.
So my question is, why the use of team teleport to do this? In my experience it really wasn't that hard to just jump out of the patches.)
-
Way to think creatively! Props to you on coming up with new approaches. Sounds like a really fun way to do the Apex. And you can confuse War Walkers??? Why did I never try that? I can use Deceive on my Illusion troller every 2 seconds so that sounds like a laugh riot during the big assault part of the Apex TF!
> Dechs, I'd totally be down for doing the Apex this way if you want a team mate willing to test it with you. You know my Ill/Rad is always up for wacky silliness. -
With teleport, my only grief since I like recall friend quite a bit and teleport itself is an ok travel power once you get used to it, is to change team teleport to function like assemble the team. I know its a vet reward and all, but you could keep it on a similar timer to avoid abuse and you could instead give the vets something they will cherish to replace ATT, like say, I dunno, an "I Heart Catgirls" T-shirt costume piece. Or a cape pattern that says "Freem". Just my 2 cents.
-
I was going over the numbers (seems thats all end game content is for me anymore is number crunching) and I think that not only would it work, but I'd be able to get even more recharge than my 218% in there since scorpion shield can be used as Lotg mule. Right now Im using fire APP which lets me put in positrons blast into my fireball for a decent recharge boost. But swapping fireball out for a one slotted scorp shield with a LoTg in there and replacing my rise of the phoenix with 4 slotted expedient reinforcment would likely get me to about 220+% recharge globally. Probly worth the lost of attack chain, and with that much recharge Ill likely be able to get poisonous ray into my chain faster. I dunno. lol thats the problem with the end game builds alway second guessing the next possible upgrade.
-
Yeah, I'm certainly busy when going full tilt boogie on my Ill/rad so the gap might be easy filled with something. My normal chain after pets and toggles is blind, wounds, fireblast, wounds, fireblast, wounds etc etc etc. spiced up by lingering rad when its up and resummoning PA every minute. My big concern is whether or not the tarantula is a worthwhile pet. Is it worth having it compared to losing the seamless no gap attack chain? In your opinion of course. I've not been able to talk to any Illusion players on virtue or on the forums who have actually taken the patron pet and so I have nothing to go on. Didnt wanna burn a respec if it wasnt worth it in the end.

I'll put my vote in for Ill/Rad controller. Fantastic both solo and on teams. Even early on you can solo well if you pop in air superiority into your leveling build (and spec it out later). And on teams, people love rad. You can take out problem targets right away with deceive. (nothing like a pet malta sapper to turn a fight around from the start)
With the MMs on teams thing. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, which is the way that most people take this, but I don't want MMs on my teams. Ever. They are a fantastic AT, dont get me wrong. They outdo my Ill/rad in most situations. They are mighty. That being said. I hate the crowding I get when especially Bots and Demons are on the team. I cant get through tunnels or even a warehouse map easily. As a controller I need to be able to arrow over a problem target instead of having to tab thru all of them to get to that sapper or mentalist or (insert problem enemy here) quickly and I cant with Skippy the Wonderdemon jumping in front of me. I got a message last night from a guy needing help with the Ramiel arc, he had both a bots and demon MM on the team. Doing the Trapdoor mish in those tight caves I couldnt contribute in any meaningful way at all since all's I could see in front of me was a mass of pets. Had to leave the team (which really didnt need my help with 2 MMs anyway) since I couldnt have been any real help to them.
(And while my Ill/Rad is also a pet based toon, my pets arent out all of the time and can be completely dismissed without much issue if we start to get crowded. I dont really pop PA in tight tunnels to keep the mobility more free for my team.) -
You ran into that too? I had the same situation before about a week ago where there were 3 Paladin's spawned at the same time. I had actually grabbed a team of people to take them down since I thought it would be selfish to nab all those merits and not share any. Had posted in Virtue's LFG channel about it and assembled a team but then an antsy blaster went and pulled one by itself instead of the teams foolhardy yet fun intent to bumrush all 3 at one time. Kinda deflated the fun of the moment but was still nice to get 3 times the normal merits for a GM spawn.
-
Grats on Lusca! I'm honestly impressed you were able to drop ole Fishguts with only 195% (from what i can see on the screenshot) recharge! Very impressive to drop Lusca without Perma PA. You said you had the tarantula as well. How does that work for you? I run an Ill/Rad with 218.8% recharge and can fit in the tarantula but am still on the fence on whether or not it's worth losing my single target attack chain for another pet. Do you find it worth it? Cant wait to see if you are gonna post more screenies of other GMs. Paladin and Babbage should be easy drops.

Thanks for the look-see Local
.
I like what you did with the second build. I took a couple things from it (like the -kb from recall friend i didnt think of) The reason I had the build up proc in blind is cuz my build can fire that bad boy off every 2 seconds, so it has a pretty decent chance of working. The difference between the two endurance recovery wise I am comofortable with since I took Cardiac Core as my alpha boost and I never drop below 75% endurance anymore. The health regeneration is very tempting but I can already fire off an aoe heal every 2 seconds. The difference in damage per individual power is significant so I really like the way yours is set up.
All in all yours is better for sure and I think I'll go with it for build 2 and maybe switch out the epic to a PPP for a new pet since the increased damage from the other powers per individual power will make up for the lack of a seamless damage chain. I really appreciate the input Local. -
Heya Troller forum! So I've got my build pretty much where I want it, this is what I'm currently running. A little over 218% global recharge with Perma hasten, AM, and PA. Generally speaking it's both a team build and AV/GM solo build. Definitely not for farming. Focus is for ranged team support and hard target soloing. Let me know what else I can put in here. Im thinking swapping out one of the end mod IO's from AM and putting in performance shifter +end. not sure.

Quote:Good point. Sometimes my perspective is skewed since im an Ill/Rad and my recharge time on deceive is the time it takes for the animation to finish....But it is substantially slower than firing Flash Arrow at a mob and moving on, especially when you hit a mob with 3-4 drones. In such a case I'm often detected before all of them can be confused. It's also worth noting that two other mobs that pierce stealth also come with confuse protection, namely Nemesis Snipers and Rularuu eyes.
. That, coupled with contagious confusion proc from coercive persuasion set and longer range from my Cardiac Core alpha slot I never run into issues when quickly confusing an entire spawn when stealthing hero tips. Totally valid point for flash arrow tho when stealthing, i was just trying to save the OP a power pick.
-
Quote:As illusion however its a very simple matter of superior invis and using deceive to stealth objectives. You can save the power pick by using that combo. It's foolproof even against rikti drones and other anti stealth types cuz you can simply deceive them before they attack you and walk on past.I just started my TA, but I think Flash Arrow will find its uses. In particular, it's good for stealthing objectives. It's not unusual to find a glowie that's surrounding by enemies. Flash Arrow will let you debuff the enemies perception enough that your stealth suppressing won't put you at risk.
Also, it carries an unresistable 5% tohit debuff so it works fairly well against AV's, at least those that are even level. -
Why is it that the biggest haters of PBs seem to be the warshade players? How about a little solidarity from our Kheldian brothers and sisters huh? We are all in the same squiddy boat together people.
-
Quote:Well to start I can see that a few of your powers are underslotted.....I'm mainly torn on which epic to go with. When I started this toon I made sure I had the right origin to go with OSA to light it so fire or primal epics are not mandatory. I was kind of leaning towards psy epic for the mez protection but have also toyed around with ice epic. I'm torn and dont know what to do.
For this build I think my main focus is going to be +rech to get PA perma. I just took and threw something together on mids, minus slotting, to give an idea on what I would have most likely gone with. I'm not married to this build and would like to hear your opinions on the pros and cons for the epics and if whether or not this build can achieve perma PA.

Lol, ok sorry had to get that one out of the way. As far as epics go, Local is right. Fire works perfectly with oil slick arrow. Once your recharge gets high enough (which is very easy with Illusion) Blind>Spectral Wounds>Fireblast>Spectral wounds>Fireblast etc etc etc is a great chain with solid damage (for a controller anyway). Even tho this is a TF/team build, I question the uses of the medicine pool. You are going to be very very busy between Ill and TA already and using aid other is going to be very difficult. You wont be able to use it in combat reliably since people move quite a bit and it gets disrupted easily and has a relatively long casting time. As far as Aid self goes it may just be easier to carry some green inspirations instead of spending 2 power picks for a self heal. As an Ill/Ta you are going to be a VERY long range toon and with Spectral terror, PA, Phantasm, and your arrows you really shouldnt be getting hit much anyway once you get used to the long range lifestyle. Also, if you are going to be taking the leadership pool and only taking 1 power from it, I would recommend manuevers instead of assault as the damage boost wont be noticed nearly as much as the defense buff and it can be used as a mule for a Lotg +recharge. Even then, since you are going to be in the back firing arrows and throwing down controls, the buff may not affect your damage dealers who more often than not lately seems to be scrappers who run way ahead of you in search of tasty bosses and Lts. For incarnate I'd probly go with spiritual since you wont have AM like an Ill/Rad and keeping the debuffs going in TA will require as much recharge as possible. I've never seen an Ill/TA that can do Perma Pa, but I imagine if it did it would require a serious inf investment. Thats all I can think of for the moment, hope it helps. -
There will be a problem with that gap in recharge for PA. From my experience as an Ill/Rad before I got true perma PA, (which thankfully wasnt that long of a time period), is that you cannot count on the decoy to fill in the gap for you. Due to some bugs with the way phantasm works lately you just can't rely on him to do the right thing. One tactic that might help a little bit is to use the terrain to your advantage. If you see PA fading you can queue up you new PA and get behind some line of sight blocking terrain. It may buy you a second or two while the AV chases you down to get line of sight (gotta do this before the PA drops cuz otherwise it won't save you) and hopefully it'll resummon in time. It's also important to note that even tho PA will summon, it doesnt automatically get aggro back. There is a very brief moment that seems like an eternity against certain AVs where they are just standing there and not attacking. You're fine as soon as they attack but you may take a hit or two before the taunt kicks in. Basicly what I'm getting at is that the few seconds of downtime in an AV/GM fight could be disastrous depending on the situation, especially if you dont have a self heal to deal with the incoming damage (and even then on a squishie a self heal may not be enough).

Ok so I was working on my Mind/Rad build in mids. And while i can get perma hasten and AM pretty easy and cheap, I saw the recharge times on the mass confusion, total dom, and mass hypnosis were still a little long for my liking. (down to like 60 seconds-ish) That seems a long time for your controls recharge wise, or is it just me? I've been playing my ill/rad for a long time and it never seems like im waiting on anything so having to wait 60 seconds on a recharge seems a little high. what's everyone elses opinion?

Quote:Not trying to give grief or anything, so please dont take this the wrong way. But what are you having a hard time soloing? My peacebringer is running a triform build with a very (very) modest budget (aside from some Lotgs +rech i got from hero merits) and I solo +2/x3 solo on regular missions all the time. I could imagine it being an issue for an all human build but running on SOs but even without an IO'd out build you should be able to solo the regular content without much of a problem. Now sure, it cant solo like my ill/rad or bs/sd scrapper. But that's not really necessary. I play my PB to have fun. If I wanna drop a GM solo. Ill grab the ill/rad. If i wanna farm Ill grab my scrapper. But the PB is just fine for having a good time with some relaxed gameplay.Frankly, I agree with a buff to Peacebringers, or a change to they're inherent power.
Frankly I don't think ANY AT should be dependent on teaming for they're power. It is EXTREMELY hard to solo, or even duo a Kheldian.
As such, I think it is perhaps time to give a bonus to PBers and WSs which is NOT dependent on having a bunch of friends online at the time. -
Great video tex! gave me giggles! Hey, do you think a very similar thing could be done with a mind/rad/primal? or does the reason your toon rock the house come from /cold? Im a nutbar about /rad so I was hoping to do something like what you just did there with a mind/rad i've been planning (mainly cuz getting a high recharge build on a mind/rad is pretty easy.)

Funny enough, I have never actually used Q flight as a panic power. I've played my PB for a little over a year and the only times I've used Q flight is if I want to zip past rikti drones (for other mobs I just use superspeed/stealth and run past them). For taking the alpha I just drop into dwarf form and teleport to the first soon to be dead mob. Tho I built my PB for pseudo tanking so alpha's arent much of a concern.

Quote:Out of the sets you mentioned, I think Mind/Kin would be tons of fun. You can get your recharge goin pretty well and get those AoE controls firing off. But have you considered /rad? An earth/rad is an amazing toon. You dont have to worry about buffage at all which can be annoying in a support toon. Earth/Rad gives you great support options, you can floor the defense of an area of mobs from lvl 6 oneward with cages+rad infection. Plus you get -res, -regen, slow, etc. You won't be doing damage in any real amount but your team will love you. You can heal and you get a great rez. An all around great toon. Another option would be the toon I'm trying to put together in mids and then lvl up. A Mind/Rad. If I can get perma Hasten/AM I'll be firing off those ridiculous controls and what I've been giggling about is a combo of enervating field (-resist) and mass confusion. To watch the group of enemies do an even better job of beating each other up while i cackle with gleeI want a Controller, I am craving a Controller, but being mostly a Blaster/Brute/Scrapper player it is pretty difficult to get past level 6, which isn't to say I have not already got one past. I have a level 38 Gravity/Forcefield. I'm sure you can see where I went wrong (I've been kicking myself for ages about it, I was so close to choosing Storm which I'm loving on a Mastermind).
I've tried what is pretty much a pure support character. A slow, boring, little-used support character. Now I want a proper Controller, I want to buff, debuff, control, manipulate!.. But I don't know what sets to choose. I've narrowed it down to Electric/Sonic (faster, short-term control powers to keep me clicking and self/ally buffs and debuffs galore), Earth/Thermal (I like the BAMness of Earth and I've also wanted a healy type for the fast paced nature of it, but Therm also comes with tasty debuffs so trumps out Empathy) or Mind/Kinetics (Fast powers! Wham! Zip! Pow! And teams will love me).
To those who've tried these combos, I'd like to know your thoughts on them. To those that know too many numbers like me, I'd like a fresh opinion on how they'd work together. I KNOW it's all down to personal opinion, but I'm still interested in personal accounts and how they do in the 30+ game especially..

Quote:Tex, he corrected himself and apologized in post #6. Cut the guy some slack. jeesh. While I can appreciate not wanting to derail the thread, the "debate" isn't a debate. It's just piling on about "healers" yet again, and didn't start with me. I responded to what was already stated (and is stated over and over on the boards in incredibly incendiary language without often enough being challenged).
Anyway. My obsession would be Luminous Blast. Matter of fact every last one of my peacebringers has taken that set.
