Bye Rocky, best of luck in finding something good and soon!
-
OK, removed one of my RAM sticks so only had 3 slots full, blank screen after 30 mins
Will have a play with the timings as well and check the Nvidia forums as FFM suggested, but not tonight cos I was hoping this would fix it and I just want to play now! -
Unfortunately ZhaoRen I have the same problem. I have posted in the thread shadowe linked but unfortunately none of the suggestions worked (thought they had for a while, then I got black screen again
)
I have sent a ticket to support about it, they asked me to check the thread mentioned and said it was a known issue but had not got a fix as yet.
Things I have tried to solve the issue, maybe worth a try for you?
Tried single and dual screen monitors
Tried reducing the screen res in both single and dual screen monitors.
Tried the 175.16, 175.19, 177.69, 177.79 and the 177.83 drivers, all uninstalled and using driver cleaner to remove before a fresh install
Happens on both Vista 64 and XP home (and Vista 32 it seems)
Now was thinking the other day it does seem similar to one of the problems I first had with Vista, with it not booting and just going to blank screen from the boot menu. This was fixed in a Vista patch (can't remember which one), but it was originally thought to be to do with ram timings and voltages when you have all 4 ram slots full, I will try with only 3 gig running tomorrow night and let you know how it gets on.
Edit - I see FFM already suggested similar on the other thread, thought I had read it somewhere as well, must check threads more carefully after drinking -
Getting a similar problem myself, ticket below sent to support:
While playing, my monitor "switches itself off" during gameplay. The Monitor goes blank, then shows the message "No Signal" as if the PC was switched off and then the LED turns amber to go to powersaveing mode.
This can happen within 5 minutes of logging on or 2 hours, but once it has switched off there is no way to get the image bak (have tried switching the monitor back on at the switch, still get the same "No Signal" message and the monitor LED goes to amber), and the only option I have is to reset the PC.
I am currently dual booting with Vista 64bit which I know you do not support, so have fresh installed onto XP home edition as well on a seperate partition and am still getting the same problem.
I thought I had temporarily solved the problem as I normally have dual screen setup and I setup with only one monitor, I was no longer getting the "No Signal" message, however instead the screen would go blank for a second, then close COH and a message stating "A driver had stopped responding and has been succesfully recovered". Doing some research into this message, I then tried the single monitor on XP, which still gave me the "No Signal" message, and now having gone back to Vista 64, even with the single monitor I am again getting the "No Signal" message.
I am using a Athalon 5200 Processor with a 8800GT card.
I have tried the 175.19 drivers (current recommended, also tried rolling back to 175.16 and also the 175.83 drivers, I have ensured each time I have changed them that the old ones were uninstalled and that I ran Driver Cleaner 1.5 to ensure all traces were gone.
I have also checked all other drivers (motherboard and soundcard) are fully up to date.
Have sent DXDIAG and Everest reports to support as well, they have let me know it is a known issue, but don't have a fix as yet.
Anyone got any idea's please? -

On the other hand, as a Regen you're closer to a WoW "rogue" than "warrior". You're a damage dealer in a group, not a tank, not even a light tank.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the lower levels, you cannot tank, I agree there, however higher levels with DP, integration, IH and MoG, you can sit there soaking up the damage and smiling (admittedly not for too long, you won't be main tank, but if you want to be that, you should have rolled a tank in the first place), you can certainly tank for a mob or so if the main tank goes down etc. -
Taxi from airport is very expensive, it may say bristol airport but is actually a fair way from the centre, best bet is to get the Airport Flyer, then a taxi from the bus station to hotel (unless you are staying at travel inn behind bus station, in which case walk
).
Last we knew the plan was to meet in the reckless engineer (see thread)it is right outside bristol temple meads train station, I will be there from 7-7.30 just in case!
If anyone needs any directions to hotels or info about bristol, feel free to PM me, will be checking before I leave work friday.
oh, and I'll be the one in the Blue and White Bristol Rugby shirt! -
It's available here , also see section 3:

Do have to aggree here to a certain extent, Brute and tank are very different, to me the most similar to brutes are scrappers. I nearly gave up on my MA/Regen at lvl, but as Moraelin said, once you get integration it makes it all so much more bearable (break free? what's one of them).
But saying all that, tanks are fun too...... -

For a) I wouldn't suggest going into any fights with even con or above mobs and not having Integration running.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would suggest never turning Integration off at all, with quick recovery and/or stamina there is no real need, it doesn't drain too much, and the mez protection alone is worth keeping on for all mobs.
Mine gets put on when I log in, and then forgotten about. -
Cobra strike useful is useful for sorcerer's, sappers or if you solo a lot, just mez the lt, kill the goons round him, then lay it on him.
-
hehe, yeah, forgot to mention the empath's, if you play in PUGS a lot it's worth putting on bind to say you are using it. (it's still funny, but not so much when the empath is trying to heal you and the rest of the team are in need of them)
-
Before you completely dismiss MoG, the one thing it is great against is Malta. Sappers cannot drain you and none of them can hit you with it on. It has saved me a number of times against them.
Basically with MoG, don't use it against anything that has massive acc bonus or psi and it can be useful -
I think their ability to tank depends on a lot of things, mostly if they have built a "team tank" or "scranker", how experienced they are in tanking and what mindset they have.
Any tank who only got a tanker because they had high hits and is not interested in the rest of the team will do badly at keeping aggro. If that is what they want to play then fine, but if you are looking for a aggro magnet, then not very useful, and they should be told what you need in the team after a few mobs when it becomes obvious.
I personally believe that a tank is there to take the hits from everyone else, and nothing else. If someone else is being attacked, get the aggro back immediatley (slightly simplistic but you know what I mean), you should be the first to go down in combat, and to a certain extent should be calling the shots. Any team that doesn't understand this should either be left to it, or try not doing the job they want you to do for a couple of mobs, they will soon be happy with you asking people to let up till you have got the aggro. -
It does depend on wheat other toggles you are running and what other powers you have.
I don't use the fitness pool myself.I run Integration, Focussed accuracy and combat jumping with my MA/Regen, but he also has hasten so he has end reducers in integration and all attacks instead of recharge. He hardly ever runs out of end, it has to be a REALLY big fight or soloing a GM or something before I run out.
With the health thing, I have never really noticed much difference without it, although when I did have it it wasn't slotted.
Up to you really, it is possible for /regen to work without it, depends on what other powers you want, I wanted SS and SJ cos I love em both, that was my reasoning for a fitness less regen, but if you can fit it in, it's never really gonna be a harm -
Don't underestimate the stuns in MA, cobra strike is very useful against the more annoying villians out there (sorcerers and sappers spring to mind), and the animation for the final power looks great (even if it takes a while)
-
After a brief spell away, mainly to have a break from the game and try and make it all new again, I am back. Also Going to the Bristol Comic Expo, couldn't have have an inactive account for that!
Logged on again last night, after 5 mins the controls were back in my head again (although have been playing WoW, keep getting the urge to right click and loot), and I remembered what a great game I was missing.
Am currently working a new alt up through the villain levels, and think I may have to attend a galaxy girl meet too, have been meaning to since I heard about it a year ago, ah well, better later than never. -
It is definitely overkill pre-41, however at 41 I have Focussed Accuracy which is a complete end hog, also Integration running permanently, and also hasten so eagles claw and dragons tail come back quickly, all this can eat away at your end.
And to be honest, I ran out of things to slot as well, everything I wanted slotting was fully slotted, have hasten running so my attack chain is pretty much sorted, and noticed my end was running a bit lower than it had done before (had stamina in build before, so was used to not really looking at my health or my end), and end reducers in all attacks do make a difference in large teams (I normally play in 5+ teams with the SG on invincible).
-
I think more to the point is why is anyone, regardless of what language they speak having entire conversations on broadcast?
IMHO if you want to have a "conversation", either join team/supergroup or at least move close to each other and speak in local. -
There is another post about this as well in General Discussion, Bridger says he is looking into it
-
I run MA/Regen without stamina, just QR 3 slotted, I just put 2 End reducers into each attack, and run integration with 3 heal, 3 end and Focussed Accuracy with 3 end red as well.
I personally chose this way because I still like hasten for bringing things like reconstruction, Dull pain etc back as quickly as possible (slotted with reacharge reducers too, I like them back ASAP!), and I like both SS and SJ powers so decided I wanted them both.
I don't normally have any end problems, only times I run low are carnies or sappers, stamina will get it back for you quickly with these, personally I just run conserve power when it is up and take a cab or 2 with me.
If you can fit stamina in, take it, it's never a bad power to have, but if you think of 3 other powers you would rather have, a stamina-less regen is perfectly playable. -
Big Gratz D-Zol, gutted the one night of the week I couldn;t make it on was last night, but well deserved!

IH is situational. I use it once in a blue moon, but then I don't feel the slightest need to run missions on Invincible. I did a Carnie mission last night on Invincible with a 6-man team. Got killed because I was so used to not bothering looking at my HP I missed getting smashed when 4 groups aggro'd at once. If you actually need IH for every fight then you are, quite frankly, not any good. hence, it doesn't need very rapid recharge rates.
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on your style of play really, I don't need it every fight but I do use it as much as possible. I nearly always run missions on invincible, normally in mid-large teams because that is the style of play I enjoy, fast paced and risky.
I use IH more often now than I used to when it first became a clicky, and am finding I am having more fun with it on as I can wade in to large mobs and still be alive if the tank loses some aggro, or if the boss's decide they like the look of me. If our SG tanks Unstoppable goes down I can take some of the aggro off him, keeping him alive if the healer/debuffer is busy elsewhere.
I obviously like to take more risks than you do (nothing wrong with either way, just different playstyles), but as long as I am not faceplanting constantly or making the team faceplant through my actions (which do often involve running in before anyone else, normally to take down the mezzer/sapper/boss towards the back so the blasters don't get the aggro), I fail to see how I am "not very good"?
I am not saying I am a better player (or even a "good" player), just different to you, as I have had no complaints about my playstyle I am guessing it works as obviously does yours.
*cue complaints from people I have teamed with* -
For PVE acrobatics is not needed, just keep one break free about your person as has been stated it is possible for you to be held but very unlikely (I normally team with SG in 6man+ invincible mish and I use a break free once overy couple of days or so...would rather use a break free than an extra power for that).
I have only done very limited PvP, and my experience against dominators was I was still popping break free's like sweets so I don't really see what difference an extra little bit of protection is going to do, if they are spamming holds, you will still get held, just pop a break free and introduce them to your friend "High or superior damage attack" (as I said, very limited PvP experience, just what it seemed like to me, maybe someone with more PvP experience could comment to its use better) -
*goes and buys 2 recharge reductions for MoG*
Ta for that, not being a number cruncher or seen many figures for MoG didn't realise this, will certainly change now.
Agree with the_question though, I have focussed accuracy with 1 acc in each attack, purely for when I exemp, also I believe (not certain, just thought I had read somewhere) that 3 accbuf SO's in FA was equivilent to 1 or 2 acc SO's (cannot rememeber which) in each attack, so with 1 already in there I hardly ever miss anything I am capable of taking down.
