Even though the cathedral was dimly lit at this time of night, the visitor saw the emerging Priest instantly.
Well Ill be damned, he said and smiled at his own choice of words.
He let his pale eyes bore through the Priest as if to scrutinize his soul.
I thought your kind were all destroyed in the great flood, he said to the Priest.
Tell your father I want a word with him. -
Dark Astoria; late Sunday evening
The mists were as thick as the worst London fog of the Victorian era, but that was not uncommon in this part of Paragon City. Although the sun had set there was a glow to the mists that could not be attributed to the slowly rising moon.
All was silent and still. Not even the wind was about, stirring the fog.
The hulking shape of the gothic Moth Cathedral could barely be outlined against the moon through the mist. Its twin spires stretching towards the heaven as if to offer the parish a chance to ascend above the mists of Astoria.
A sudden gust of air stirred the mist of Toffet Street and a man stood in front of the cathedral.
His white eyes looked up at the spires and he smiled.
Interesting choice of abode he said and closed his eyes.
Aah! Yes. I can sense his presence here.
He opened his eyes and walked towards the entrance.
The interior of the Cathedral was an impressive display of arts and green marble.
Huge stained glass windows would give the cathedral a wonderful air if it wasnt for the fact that no light backlit them.
The man passed the font and walked briskly towards the altar where he stayed and looked up at the altar-piece.
Hello there Father. Its been awhile. But I dont want to talk to you right now. I came for something else.
He turned around, surveyed the Cathedral and sat down.
I know you are in here! he said with a raised voice, I can sense you! -
Excellent work.
Lovelly humour.
Please keep it going a bit further! -

PS. What's the minimal level for this TF?
So I know whether or not my alt could be suggested by one of the confirmed members in case of a drop out...
lvl 35 is too low?
[/ QUOTE ]
Lady Grey TF is lvl 45-50.
BUT! It has been bugged so that a lvl 35 could join in on it IF sidekicked by a lvl 45+. I don't know if that's still the case. -

Thank you Goodguy for putting up the walking toaster article, spent AGES looking for a pic of one but couldn't find anything suitable so hadn't put it up yet.
Yes everything that's there is spot on.
Edit: Just put up the story '1000' which is the story of the walking toasters defending Galaxy city, originally posted in War stories but now up on the wiki for everyone to enjoy.
Will be posting an NPC article on Terrance soon.

You're welcome my friend! </e bow>
I must say that the story of Terrance and the army of toasters is your best story so far.
But I'm biased.
I feel like Terrance's god-father, since I kinda gave him his voice.
I'm looking forward for his Bio. -
I added the Walkie-Toaster as an item.
Can you (Doctor Mechano) please check it, correct it or approve of it? -

...and im especially proud of putting up IC Rumour footnote Sandra, and Tracey in the NP Character section!

Conversation between two teenagers in Galaxy City this morning
"Ya think I would look cool in spandex?"
"What!? No! No one looks 'cool' in spandex! Why?"
"Just thinkin'... I've been trainin' Tae-Kwon-Do ya know."
"What the [censored] does that got to do with spandex?"
"Nothin'. I just... Paragon City Protectors are recruitin' new heroes, that's all."
"Oh man! Those guys over at ELITE gonna chew you up and spit you out!" -

It is.
Check out Doctor Mechano's entry. -
I just added myself and my main character.
Cool wiki and a soon to be great source of info.
Great initiative! -

We in the Hyperion Watchmen have done some forum RP for awhile now and just recently started to RP via MSN since we felt we needed to go faster to conclude the story. (Last session tonight actually!)
It's working beautifully!
Romanov is the GM/moderator at the moment and we all agreed on some basic rules and to "flesh out" our characters with some quirks/skills/flaws/etc... so that we all knew (especially Rom.) who they really are and what they can do.
PM Romanov or check out the Watchmen forum for details (link in my signature!).
(After my vacation I'll gladly join in on some forum RP!) -
I've seen these avatars for awhile now and wondered where they came from.
Nice work Pious! (/e thumbsup)
Can I have one as well?
GoodGuy is a Natural Tanker and I'd like him portrayed by [u]Eric Bana[u] . -

A very good one-liner! Must remember it.
I can only second what Echo and Mechano said. The three main venues of RP (PD, GG and SG-base) each have a "flavour" of their own. Catering to different tastes.
But why leave the RP:ing there?
Personally I (and my group) have RP:d in other locations as well. Like the "Lounge" in Faultline (A good spot since EVERYBODY already got the Egg-Hunter badge and doesn't bother with that particular hole-in-the-wall anymore) and Bloody Bay (where the Watchmen met a villain that gave them some info, furthering the plot).
I know that Bloody Bay is a PvP zone and RP:ing can easily be disturbed, but let's face it.... How many PvP:ers are there?
GoodGuy has been there a few times but had to solo the meteor-run (and bunker strike)since he was the only hero there. And I didn't run into any villains either.
And in Warburg it was equally quiet.
Since I9 (can't say if it was like this before really) the low-level PvP zones are pretty much deserted. The hardcore PvP:ers loose all their nifty über-enhancement-slotting when they auto-exemplar in those zones. Therefore they doesn't go there. (I know! I kind of generalizing here but cut me some slack!)
Personally I'd LOVE to RP with villains in say Bloody Bay.
Just because it's PvP doesn't mean we HAVE to pound eachother into paste. We could land the occasional punch-in-the-face if the arguments became heated, but it can really stop at that. We are Roleplayers after all. -
Wonder at the power of the forum-necromancer!
(Just thought that since there seems to be a slight influx of new RP:ers this guide might come in handy. And it's much more fun to resurrect an old thread than to create a new one)
-
Thank you.
I think a new channel would be nice.
Hopefully we wont get "jumped on" and power spammed if they only see a group of characters standing "quietly" in City Hall.
People are mostly just running down to their contacts anyway. -

I do hope you don't regret holding it there. You're going to get a LOT of people taking the wee wee...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes it IS a risk. But it's just a small ceremony attended by some close friends. It's bound to be rather quick.
And we can always start a new channel to speak in, with a separate chat-window so that we can "ignore" everything not related to the event. -
It wouldn't be a very good reception without cake, would it?

Begining to see it now, a so called 'Veteran' could of RP'd for 20 years and still be poor at it. A week old player to RP could be better than the player whos been doing it for 20 years. Or atleast has the potential to be, so really, how long you've been doing it hardly comes into it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Beeing a "Veteran" doesn't mean that you're good at what you're doing. Only that you've been doing it for some time.
And if you've been doing it for a length of time and still suck at it? Warning!
I'm pretty lenient when I RP in CoX. I've learnt the "tools of the trade" by observing others and will therefore assume (foolishly perhaps) that other newbies will do the same. No-one is a master from the beginning. Especially when RP:ing in an online-game environment is very different from RP:ing a tabletop game. -
Interresting question.
I don't like the labels "n00b" and "veteran". I much prefer "good rp:er" and... "not very good rp:er".
I've only played CoX since october last year and only RP:ed since march (when I got mixed up with Britanic/White Vampyr and the Hyperion Watchmen... no wait! I did some forum rp:ing in Britanic's "Riot in the Row" story before that.)
But I've been playing various roleplaying games (tabletop and storytelling) for 25 years!
And what characterises a good roleplayer in my oppinion, is the ability to let his/her character go. To risk its life so to speak.
Inexperienced roleplayers have a tendency to "optimize" the character. To make it über-powerful and without flaws.
An inexperienced storytellers are even worse, since they have more "power" at their disposal. They either make the stories to easy (and therefore boring and without a "drive") or too hard (making the players frustrated and/or with a feeling of being dumb).
In this game, both forum-wise and IC, the "God-modders" are the ones that are "not very good rp:ers".
They are the ones that makes it difficult for everybody else to enjoy the roleplaying.
I've no problems with god-modders. They're easy to deal with.
"[god-modder's character] uses his awesome powers to annihilate [other character]"
"[other character] looks to the sky and wonders where that gust of hot air came from.", /ignore god-modder, carry on as nothing happened.
Not a problem, but ultimately boring.
When does one become a good roleplayer? Don't know.
I know of people that have never RP:d before but are good the first time they try it.
And people that have played for 20 years and that are... not good.
Some people have it and some don't. Most can learn to be good, but then again... some never will grasp the concept of good roleplay.
And to clarify something. Good roleplaying has nothing to do with the "techniques" of RP:ing in CoX.
But it makes the whole experience smoother and easier to follow. -
I don't recap. Why? See FFM above.
Do I read recaps? I mostly skim throu and if I notice a name I know I read more thoroughly. (I'm a bit nosy you see.)
Otherwise I don't bother much. -

*If things are still going to plan, I think GG has some rp planned in Pocket D tonight.

Yup that's right. It's connected to the "Loose Ends" story, so mostly I want Bastinado (required!), High Burn and Carter there. Other Watchmen are welcome but opptional. -
Yes. Very well written.
Eventhough I do share some of Krank's beliefs IRL, I can't/wont apply them "as is" in the game, but rather "translate" it to similar CoX groups/events/companies/etc.
