    The problem with Fire is that all it does is damage... there's no mitigation at all. Adding a secondary like /Mental or /Ice that has some mitigation helps, but Fire Blasters tend to die a lot regardless (though so does everything around them).

    My suggestions for various types of Blaster:

    Best AoE damage for large teams: Fire / Mental. You get excellent AoE potential without having to spend as much time in close as Fire / Fire does, so you take less AoE splash damage. Fire / Fire is marginally higher damage but Fire / Mental is safer and has a few nice tricks other than raw damage.

    Best Blapper (melee Blaster): Fire / Electric. Extremely powerful melee attacks plus Blaze, and you get good AoEs to thin out a spawn. Incredibly powerful but also incredibly fragile. Ice / Electric gives up a bit of damage but gets a couple of holds and some slows for mitigation, making it a safer option that still hits hard.

    Best pure ranged Blaster: Archery / Energy. Archery has three single target attacks with a full 80' range, which is enough for a seamless attack chain with moderate +recharge. It also has a slightly longer range on its cone attack. Add in perma-Boost Range and you can stay flying safely above your enemies while dishing out pretty good damage. And most importantly, Rain of Arrows is probably the best Blaster AoE in the game... it can wipe out every minion in a spawn and doesn't take that much +recharge to use it every fight. Assault Rifle / Energy is also good... it has more AoE power but requires getting a bit closer and Full Auto isn't as good as Rain of Arrows.

    Safest Blaster: Ice / Ice. You're practically a Controller, but your damage is a bit low and mainly single target. You get a ton of slows and holds plus a KD patch and some AoE DoTs though, and Blizzard is insanely damaging if enemies stay in it the full duration (like if they're held and at the -speed floor)

    Really, you need to try several Blasters and see what clicks for you... they have very different feels. Electric Blast is still under-performing and Dual Pistols (if you have the Going Rogue pre-purchase) is a bit gimped (looks great though). I'd also suggest trying Energy / Energy... it's not best at anything but it feels more "super" than most since you send mobs flying all over the place and can also pound them in melee. Just be careful of the knockback in teams... you can cause a lot of chaos if you aren't paying attention to where you knock things.
    Good Job, and I agree for the most part.

    Personally I would go Archery/EM because It gives you the Second Best ST damage behind Fire (your bread and butter is snap shot (especially with procs) and Blazing Arrow) and arguably the best Blaster AOE power in Rain of Arrows (it's like hitting the whole mob with Blazing Bolt). Another plus is getting Blazing Arrow at level 6 vs Blaze at 18 to help early on.

  8. Picking stealth is bad here, none of your defenses will be soft-capped when you break stealth. You don't get that full 5% defense only the base defense of ~2%. Here's your build with only a few slots moved around and a couple of recipie changes to be soft-capped at all three positional defenses.

    On to the stalkers. While em has greater burst its all from melee. With spines its all ranged which means if you land your as and throw out your ranged attacks the target is in pretty bad shape.
    It's funny how you two argue for spines over EM because of range vs melee, yet you both tout Elec over Spines when it's melee too. good job keeping you stories straight.

    Either way Elec or Spines are the clear favorites.

    you forgot to correct the fact that Leviathan doesn't have a snipe, small oversight I know.

    Soul Storm also does a little more damage than Jaws, matbe only by a marginal amount but still by almost 10% enhanced. I just offered up soul for something a little different.

    Like I said Spines is great, but I still prefer my Elec. BTW I never said anything about my preferences between Spines and EM. Also the greater burst damage in EM is in the numbers.

    Mind/Elec/Mace is ok, but a Mind/Elec/Leviathan is 20 times more versatile.
    Spines is better than EM.
    Nothing's better than a Psi/Em/Cold.
    And you shouldn't roll a defender til GR.
    Thanks for the hyperbole, not taking Leviathan on a corruptor is not seriously gimping yourself. Hibernate isn't the end all be all...people using hibernate get killed all the time as damage keeps ticking away after activation. And Power Boost can be more than useful.

    Same goes for Doms and hibernate, while Poison Ray does more Dmg than Leviathan attacks and Scorp shields allows you to add/build for Def.

    I have a Spines and EM/WP that I use in RV and spines is fine but picking up two attacks from Leviathan (both with twice the range and more damage) makes Impale (the best part about spines) only so-so. And there's nothing in spines to compete with the burst damage you get from ET following an AS. I also have an Elec/Ninja which I prefer over the Spines and EM stalkers.

  13. /elec gets a bad wrap...it's not as bad as people make it out to be. It has a heal which is important. You are not fight clubbing with a stalker so you have time to let it recharge, that's what placate and hide a for. It also has some advantages, especially for zone PVP like teleport resist, end resist and slow resist. I run with an EM/Elec and I really like it. I also have an Elec/Ninja, and a Spine/WP. But if you don't go with /Elec I would take WP over regen.

    well swift used to be more neccessary because there were so many -fly/-jump/slow powers that swift helped keep moving while making hurdle usless. Now with those things not being AS dominate as they used to be, hurdle is good to help keep you moving faster as you jump around (which players do a lot) and will increase your jump height by a meaningful amount if you are not using SJ. It's up to you...
