So basically i'm going for mass AOE and smash/damage, any powers i should drop? Different slotting? How's the endurance in this build gonna be like? Any changes that will make it better? any help is appreciated.

Well you skipped what's one of the best powers in Fire Control IMO, Flashfire.

Definately drop Stone Mallet for Flashfire, if nothing else.

I'd roll something more like this with soft capped S/L def

Mega_Jamie must have done the samething I did the 1st time, and acidentally had power boost toggled on. Doh!

actually here is a build with 180% recharge, and 41.1% def to S/L (+ 5.91% -acc with smoke), this time with power boost turned off ;p

i see everyone is using mace mastery, i was gonna try soul mastery for the dark consumption and another aoe. Bad idea?

Nope. Power boost not toggled on. Toggling it on puts my defence values up to 67% and doesnt affect the recharge, so 47% Smash/Lethal Defence and 176.3% Global Recharge, plus the variable recharge addition of 2 forcefeedback procs. and 28% Energy defence, which aint bad considering its not the goal.



EDIT: to respond to PBaRmy, shouldnt really need a +End power but Domination going off alotm especially not one on a fast enough recharge to be used every time your between Domination clicks, with a 360 second base. Secondly, while i think Soul Mastery's shield should provide defence, it provides resistance, using the mace shield gives you a slotted ~20% Defence, and the blast provides a -def/-res, increasing your DPS indefinately (being a 30sec duration, recharging in sub 3 seconds for me, no idea if it stacks, i imagine not, as that owuld be overkill)

So that I'm contributing something, I will ask:

do people not think mud pots is a worthwhile power generally, or do you not take it for reasons of end consumption? It doesn't do that much less damage that hot feet, and costs a decent amount less end.

Generally, how much net recovery are you shooting for in these builds?

softcapped s/l and perma (barely), with only one purple set! My worry is that it only comes in at like 1.5 net recovery. Could add recovery and recharge by replacing some stuff with purples, but I would like to be able to actually afford to run this build sometime in the neat future, so adding another billion inf worth of purps is something I would prefer to avoid.

I went Soul Mastery with mine. Dark Consumption was nice, though I actually slotted well enough for End. reduction that it wasn't too necessary. Still helpful, though. The real perk to going Soul Mastery, IMO, was getting Soul Drain. For when Seismic Smash just isn't smash-y enough.

Also, regarding the other question that came up:

Mud Pots also has a really pathetic range. It only hits enemies who are right up on you, while Hot Feet gives you a nice little area to work with. Conceptually, it should have great synergy, in practice, Hot Feet is simply better all around, and Mud Pots doesn't add as much as it seems like it should.

nice rech, i just hate the mace weapon draw on the mace powers, seem to long for me imo. imma stick with the earth powers for now

You absolutely want Flashfire.

Drop Bonfire for starters, most groups will dislike reckless use of that power.

I'd even drop Cinders before I dropped Flashfire, but there's no need to since you should drop Bonfire without a doubt.

If you think you can run it, you might try dual PBAoE auras with both hotfeet and mudpots - I'm not sure how well that will work out, but it would increase your AoE damage.

mudpots' area is just too small to justifiably have it, stuff has to be literally touching you

Maybe if you were going with Fire/ something else, but on /Earth, I've found Cinders is way more useful than Flashfire. Between Hot Feet and all the knockdown that /Earth produces, you actually get a good amount of mitigation at the beginning of a fight just by running in and slamming down a Fissure. Since Flashfire is a cone, it needs to be fired from far away, it animates slowly, making it useless as a panic button. As mentioned the range is simply too small. The fear factor means no enemy is going to try to get close enough, and the small radius means you have to be right on top of someone to get the damage, so it's "AoE" capability is actually rather minor, and not worth the cost.

I'll give you that Bonfire isn't the most useful pick, though.

flashfire is a targeted aoe, not a cone

if you are taking bonfire over flashfire, I really don't know what to tell you. Maybe you would be better off with a different primary?

Okay, color me befuddled. I somehow managed to go 50 (well, 38) levels without ever noticing that. Boy, realizing that sooner might've saved me once or twice. I'm still going to maintain my love of Cinders for quick activation time, though.

Still, I guess it's all moot since in the end the point of "dropping Bonfire first the best possible idea" remains agreed upon by all.

ok seems to be a lot of talk about bonfire...i dropped it in the second build i redid...if u were watching the progression of posts.
