"I'm having trouble believing you. Why? Because my main hero side is claw/sr"
I don't want to hear from Scrappers whose only job is to do damage. You can't compare scrapper survivability to that of someone whose job it is to actually draw enemy fire. You don't get attacked as often as my brute does. You don't herd like I do. Stand in the middle of a herd that you grouped hitting the aggro cap and see how long you live. That's the job of a brute. SR brutes take more of a pounding than some scrapper who's only there for damage add.
[/ QUOTE ]
OK, here is my Super Reflexes scrapper standing in the middle of 16 enemies letting them all pound on me while I take out an AV, solo, with no temporary powers and no inspirations. Anything else you think scrappers can't do because we're not expected to herd?
As far as your experiences, I recommend downloading Herostats, running it, and sending the results to the devs. Or just turning on the to hit rolls and sending them the text. That's assuming you're actually getting hit as often as you say you do. Because if you are, it's a bug. But I suspect what you'll see is observer bias it's easy to remember the hits, and hard to remember the misses. I suspect you'll see that over a long period of time, you're not getting hit all that often.

"Sorry, I have 2 /SR at 50, and I haven't noticed this."
Two SR what? Brutes, scrappers? Do you herd with them?
More info please.
[/ QUOTE ]
There in my sig, one is a brute, and the other a scrapper.
I use the brute to herd to make use of footstomp.
My scrapper I do the same, especially if theres a tank on the team. Ive been known to get a tank killed if they get cocky, trying to pull aggro off of me. I also use my scrapper to solo AV's -
Sorry, I have 2 /SR at 50, and I haven't noticed this.

Little discussion in the brute boards.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....=0#Post13617256 -
Well, seeing as how this is the first time I've heard someone complain about getting hit with 200% def on an ITF? Yes, Rommies fluffies can, one of them has an autohit. Otherwise, I havent seen it. With a /sr scrapper or /sr brute.
-
Huh?? Nothing wrong with /Sr If you do get debuffed enough on the itf, you still have your scaling resist. I've been on an itf where the Granite tank died and I lived. Ran the LRSF and out survived a granite and invul brute.
If the OP is complaining about DE or the Eyeballs, or even Nemesis soldiers, I think it is more of an issue with them learning the game, what does what, and what the little orange shield in the insp tray is for. -

What's the concept behind Laser Beam Eyes? You have such complete control of your body that your eyes now shoot lasers?

Laser eye surgery. -
Ah, got it. Haven't seen him around lately. Just when I started my DB toon to. Phooey. Ok, I'm gettin delirious, off to bed now.

I saw a post over in the Brute forums about an attack chain leading off with Blinding Fient. Lemme see if I can find it.
[/ QUOTE ]
BF>AttackVitals is probably the attack string in question. It doesn't really do much with Empower though, but that's partially because Empower isn't a particularly incredible combo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, this is the one. Isn't this the combo used by the Patron Saint of Dual Blades?

The consensus here appears to be that Brutes are essentially Scrappers and Masterminds are supposed to be the Tankers, but when I actually play red side, I've never encountered a team where the Mastermind was expected to Tank. Teams ALWAYS look to the Brute. Even when I explain I'm damage dealer, I STILL wind up taking point.
The Devs gave us Taunt Auras, like Tankers and Scrappers.
The Devs gave us Taunt, like Tankers and Scrappers.
The Devs gave us Gauntlet in our attacks, like Tankers.
The Devs failed to give Masterminds a tool to control their Aggro themselves.
The Devs failed to give Brutes the tools to survive the Aggro they gather using SOs and their armors, alone.
What gives?
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here, I have no problem doing it though. Of course, I tend to take point on my scrappers to. just cause teams want to sit around and "talk" or "strategize". Here's my strategy "If it moves, it dies!!" -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I am sorry to hear so many that think this way. It seems like so many are trying to make Brutes into tanks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Brutes that build themselves like a tank and proceed to play like scrappers do quite well for themselves. The longer I can stay healthy, the longer I can SMASH things into a pulp.
[/ QUOTE ]
^^This. I play my brutes like this. Build your defenses up and let fury deal with the damage. Not to say I don't slot my attacks out well, it's just a secondary concern. -
And they should never do so. Everyone should remember the razors edge that was regen, pre nerfs.

[ QUOTE ]
eh..if brutes are so hot why are there still far more people playing scrappers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because there are far more people playing blueside than redside maybe?
[/ QUOTE ]
yes, and why is that?
i find redside to be more efficiently laid out especially at the lower levels before a travel power. if the redside at's are superior, why arent people playing them?
again, a lot of people dislike the fury mechanic. you have to have a brute build that doesnt ever have to stop to rest to take full advantage of the mechanic. scrappers can take their time - do missions while watching tv.
[/ QUOTE ]
I personally love the mechanics of fury. My issue to is with the lower population redside. I don't think it's the fault of one game mechanic on one AT though. Maybe its the lesser number of Tfs/Sfs. Maybe it's the difference in merit rewards in mission arcs.
As far as people saying it's a chore to get and keep fury? It takes, what, one mob to get your fury around 70%? I don't think of it as a chore, I think of it as a drug. Brb, I'm off to make a db/wp brute. -
It was BillZ that did the spreadsheet. I believe it's in the scrapper forum.
-
This is what I put together a few months back for my brute. Seeing as how there the same powers though, shouldnt make much of a difference. I wasnt going for the combos, but If you dont want hasten, could be an easy switch. I also put off the travel powers till late in the build. With all the temp powers you can get now, as long as you turn them off when theyre not in use, they will last a very long time.

My DB/WP build at 50 hits 45% S/L def (45.7%, I think--don't have the build handy) and has around 750% regen w/1 mob in range of RTTC. Around 50% S/L resist too, iirc. Had to sacrifice Hasten for Maneuvers to get there, so I don't know if I'm fully happy w/it or not. Then again, it's got a gapless BF > AV chain, which is as good as you're gonna get w/o a buttload more recharge, so I'll likely stick w/it (46 atm). Also, the FECN def is less than 40%, which should be good enough w/the high regen and considering most attacks have some S/L component to it. Toxic's a problem, but it's rare enough at the high levels, and I still have the high regen.
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds like exactly what I am shooting for. DO you use purples in this build though? I try to stay away from them as much as possible. -
Why do I always forget about manuevers? Geez. Ok, this is all I've been able to come up with. Still have decent numbers on everything with typed def in the thirties (if you add in the pvp io it would be in the 40's)

Those do look good. I was hoping for a non kat/ or bs/ build though. Should have put that in the OP I guess. The tank one was ss/wp. Suppose it wont work on scrappers though. Ah well, thanks for the ideas anyway guys.
Riez7897 I love your sig. -
I look forward to the carnage that you will create with a db/wp. Are you planning on soloing av's and the like with it as well?
-
I lost cause my post got deleted by Mod 8, didn't I? Ah well, gratz Mr E
-
If your taliking about the fury bonus, yes. The combine. You are still short of the damage cap though, I believe. ( I am not now, nor will I ever be, a math person )
-
I havent played my SS/SR in sometime, but when I did definitely a monster. I tried to solo requiem in the ITF, but my team showed up and ruined that. I had him to half health though. It was the build here, except I didn't have the damage procs in it. I may get back on and try again though. Anyone know any arcs villain side with an AV or two?
