  1. Sonic Cage has so many uses. It is like caltrops where you either understand how to wield in a variety of ways or you don't.

*As mentioned, in the lower levels of solo play, sonic cage is amazing as you engage minions and then take on a lt or boss.

*If there are too many waves of ambushes, cage the last NPC of the ambush spawn to give yourself a breather. The next ambush will not be triggered until the last NPC is defeated.

*Not only can you cage singularities, but also can cage dark servants summoned by Master Illusionists. But the Phantasm and Phantasm Decoy can not be caged because of different phase. :P

*As mentioned already sonic cage is useful in several TF.

Sonic Cage is the most versatile power used in solo, or team from low to high levels of play. Extremely underrated.

So far, I am really impressed with the power combination and how well my 14 lvl defender is able to solo. Far better than my Kin/DP. I'm looking foward to what this one will look like when I finally reach lvl 50.
I was told that with Sonic Resonance I would have a hard time soloing but that never proved to be the case. Since you are pairing it with /Sonic the synergy is even better. Enjoy and Sonic Dispersion will change how you play for sure once you pick it up.

The combos have always been like flavor with the way castle designed them. I have always found dual blades more enjoyable ignoring combos for the most part. The gimmick of combos has always been out shined by the reality that once you pick up sweeping strike that attack vitals is pointless (especially the DoT component making placate PITA to use). Now? You have Assassing strike with sweeping strike to really bring the pain and Ablating strike is a good filler attack. OTC is actually a better opener now that AS can be used mid combat honestly unless you want to start off with sweep combo. Usually if I miss my sweep combo I follow it up with an empower but that is rare, but still nice fall back.

Typically, moves like these are only mag 2, and since magnitude cannot be enhanced, you can only hope to stun minions and underlings with no other stacking effects. Plus, the base durations are generally on the short side, so it is hard for them to effectively be used as control. These moves are not worth taking for most characters, considering I do not see people using them that often and I have never found myself in a position to take one because there is usually a better or more useful move available. Am I missing something?

If not, I think moves like these warrant an reevaluation.

It is a relic of previous design decisions just like snipes, and low target caps for some attacks.
  5. Using a build that doesn't suit your playstyle = total trainwreck.

Gunamges build works because...gunmage uses it.
  6. I love Dual Blades and BS with the changes.

    So. much. burst.

I am brainstorming some attack chains for both. But yes attack vitals is pretty much to be ignored with the new in combat assassin strike. Sweep is pure win for dual blades that now it can be used in combat! What joy!

    I have a AR/Kin corr, a AR/Traps corr, a AR/Dark, and a Huntsman SoA.

I threw the huntsman build in there mostly for the all gun aspect. Hot lead shooting down range and all.

I enjoy them all for various reasons.

When I decided to Incarnate out the AR/Kin I decided to try something. I went with a cardiac t3, for the extra range, and the t3 cyronic partial radial Judgement, for the extra range.

Lets just say, it is fun as heck to shoot off 3 long range extreme damage cones one right after the other.

Opinions may vary, but that toon has helped earn more Mo badges than anything else I have in my toon-box of alts.
It would be better if they upped the target cap on Full Auto.

  9. Even though nothing for me, I am sure there will be many people happy with these featured items. Good job Paragon studios!
  10. More mask options please. I love how versatile the jester masks are, but need some more diversity.

More diverse patterns would also be desirable by me.

    .
My new main is an AR/SON space marine that is armored.
  12. It depends really but generally with Blasters you lead off with it because you don't need LoS (Aim + BU + Rain of Arrows) to fire it off, and Blasters are just squishy. :P

Since Defenders and Corruptors can buff/debuff and some power sets have access to mez protection you don't have to lead off with RoA for any incoming alpha.
  13. I like the choices, well not for me, but for those that do not have any of this good stuff. Barbarian costume set is a must have, so I like it will be discounted for those that do not have it currently.
  14. The Barbarian set IMVHO is the best costume set released to date and being discounted is great for those that don't have it.

Very good selection this week from my view.
  15. Do you like crashless nukes scourg'ing?

    Don't look back.

In addition to the new Impact mechanic and the quickening of Propel (which helps soft-control from Knockback), we’ve made a major change to Dimension Shift and some minor tweaks to Wormhole.

    Dimension Shift:
    • This power is now a Targeted AoE toggle. It will phase and immobilize everything within its sphere of influence, and can be sustained for up to 20 seconds. Enemies who move into the radius after the effect has begun become immobilized and phased. If the power is toggled off before its maximum duration, affected targets become un-phased shortly thereafter, allowing players to functionally control the duration of the phasing.
    Wormhole:
    • This power’s radius has been increased to 20 feet, up from 15 feet. It also no longer causes enemy NPCs to attack the user, assuming the user has not used any other attack powers on their opponents. This allows Gravity Control characters to use Wormhole as an initiation power without risking death during its attack animation.

You'll see these changes on the i22 VIP Beta soon after it goes up.
    Like both changes.

Would love to see more existing sets revamped like this.

    Rain of Arrows

Scourge is delicious that is all.
  18. Paragon Points - Awarded one business day after your billing date or renewal, or the day you signed up under a plan.

Paragon Rewards - Depending on when your billing date is issued, it can be at the start of the month or the tail end.

Since mine is on the 19th, that means Paragon Points will be awarded on the 20th, and Paragon Rewards sometime Januray 27-29th of the month.
  19. I work in customer service and I can say based on what I have read is that dev communication has improved since Freedom has launched.

Only quibble I have is there is some lag with regards to putting in place what the player base wants and how it fits into their development schedule (eg epic/power customization). But they do eventually fit in room for what is requested the vast majority of time.
  20. AR Corruptor here.

Going from the 2 inch knockback of buckshot to the wierd contortions as they lay lifeless on the ground is a bit extreme.

    Caltrops

Caltrops are even better for Stalkers unless you don't want them to scatter (AoE's).

    Caltrops

    Pre-Ed

AR/DEV blaster, Caltrops + Ignite = Total destruction of an entire hazard zone (Perez Park)aaaaaaaaaaah I miss those days. :P

The fear component of Caltrops is actually a very useful tool as it buys you time. In my opinion, it works better than world of confusion as a damage mitigation tool, because it works against bosses and lts, and it also does damage. Not to mention you can pick it up at a much lower level.

Caltrops can be used as others have said:

*Anti ambush tool: An ambush rushes your team or your position, put some down, and finish the existing NPC group off while the ambush squad is scattering all over the place.

*Anti Melee tool: It works actually surprisingly well with a Claws Stalker, not just a trapper fender/ruptor, or a devices blasters.

*Damage : An additional layer of damage.

A powerset does not have the same flexibility as two costume bundles. That only reinforces how overpriced power sets are.

The Rocket board and Magic carpet are not just cosmetic changes (but is also a power), hence you can make an argument for it to be 800. But for some people that already have the rocket board, they clearly stated in this thread they will not pay 800 for a cosmetic upgrade for the magic carpet. While others would be fine for a re-skin of the rocketboard but at a reduced pricing.

For a VIP that doesn't have powersets or costume bundles, it is clear which is the best bang for the buck. Unless they have all the costume bundles, then you can make a case of powerset pricing versus other choice of equal value. But an unlock of auras, or capes is way better bang for the buck as well.

For the tldr crowd: VIP should not have to pay the same pricing as non VIPs for many items, or the value of a lot of services should be closer to the monthly stipend.

No item in paragon Market should be more than 400 points. The reason is this is the allotment given to the VIP players. It would allow every VIP to get that ONE item as a bonus. It would act as a reason to move from Prem to VIP. A single free item that the player picks a Month for VIP is easy to grasp by all the player base. Also 400 points is the smallest amount you can buy at $5.
I don't think ALL items should be 400 max, but the vast majority should be. For respec you can make an argument as to why it is 800 at least.

Costume bundles go for 400, and powersets should be the same price. This way you can choose power set or costume bundle.

Right now, you have a choice of one power set vs two costume bundles. Guess which is way better bang for the buck? Costume bundles.

They think that costumes should all be free, but would pay for powersets.

It's another version of the 'what should be included in Premium content' debate. If everyone gets to have what they think of as a central part of the game for free, then there's virtually nothing left that can be sold in the market and used to fund the extra development and extra releases that you acknowledge are happening.

At the end of the day, what it comes down to is, are you willing to pay extra to get more of some of the things that you feel are fundamental to the game, or do you think that they shouldn't exist for anyone to buy? Because those are the options -- more stuff that we pay for, or the lesser amount of stuff we got under the old system, for free. More stuff for free isn't really going to fly as a business model.
Costume bundles are reasonably priced though.
