Archery and Traps: Defender or Corruptor?

Hey superfolks.

I have a Traps/Ice/Force Defender that I have grown bored of (the ice secondary only).

I want to make a new Trapper, and I have settled on Archery since I have never played it.

What is "Better?" Archery/Traps or Traps/Archery?

Something that would help me make my own decision, what is the accepted "Optimal" attack chain ST for archery?

When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...

I can't help with the attack chain, my only arrow toon is around 16.

Whether to make a defender or corrupter IMO really depends on how easily you want to soft cap defense and when you want your powers. With that said, the numbers aren't so different that I notice a difference in battle, but if you plan to exemp down you may want particular powers to be available earlier.

Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Arc Name: Tsoo In Love
Arc ID: 413575

Main question i have is whether Snap shot is needed for a clean attack chain.

If yes, I will probably go defender. If not Corruptor.

For /traps, the corruptor version of trip mine uses BLASTER VALUES and so is mondo-crazy AOE damage. I think this puts corruptor far ahead for solo because it is easy to get enough defense to trip mine whenever you feel like it for traps. The defender traps will be debuffing resistance more, and is the preferred choice for teams.

You should do this based on what your solo/team priorities are.

"Hi, my name is Ail. I make people sick."
A partial selection from my 50's on Freedom: Ail = Ice/Traps, Luck = Street Justice/Super Reflexes Stalker, Mist = Bane, Pixy = Trick Arrow/Archery, Pure = Gravity/Energy, Smoke = Fire/Fire Dominator

With a Corr, you'll get Rain of Arrows by 32; with Defenders, by 38. And there's no corresponding advantage in Defenders getting Time Bomb earlier than Corrs, since that's one of the most skippable powers in the game.

Do you like crashless nukes scourg'ing?

Don't look back.

I thought scourge was a non issue for RoA since you mostly use RoA at the start of a fight?

It depends really but generally with Blasters you lead off with it because you don't need LoS (Aim + BU + Rain of Arrows) to fire it off, and Blasters are just squishy. :P

Since Defenders and Corruptors can buff/debuff and some power sets have access to mez protection you don't have to lead off with RoA for any incoming alpha.

You do get your mez protection much earlier as a defender. Which is nicer than time bomb.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):
