Quote:*sniff* I had a character in a Champions RPG game get killed just from the shrapnel of a 16" shell fired by the New Jersey. 16D6 AOE Killing Attack messes up a lot of things, except of course the supermunchkin hero it was aimed at and hit. I didn't bother making a new character for that campaign; the over-the-top nature of the Game Master was just too much.It is true that the Iowas have unique capabilities that can be highly useful. Unfortunately for them, their chief disadvantage is that they are very, very expensive to operate. Their crew size is immense, the older systems require a lot of upkeep, etc. And as we found out the hard way, the inside of the big turrets can be really dangerous.
That said- in my PnP Superhero RPG, a few Navy-oriented super-gadgeteers fixed a lot of those problems by installing robotic automation on the Iowas. They're useful for shelling giant monsters :-) -
Maybe YOU don't, but I spend a lot of time in zones. Missions, and the too few map tilesets, are too repetitious (nature of MMOs, sadly), so I do spend some time saving citizens out on the streets. Depending on where, the scenery at least is more varied or at least I can vary it as I see fit. I'd like to see some new store fronts, and I would like to see some more interiors (could have a chance of a robbery taking place INSIDE). But, a guess based on general player chatter, I'm one of the very few that immerses myself into the game world.

Quote:I loved the Andorian episodes as well.Enterprise got a lot wrong, but I have to say that if nothing else I enjoyed every Andorian-focussed episode I managed to see. Of course, that may just be because Jeffrey Combs is awesome.
I knew they were awesome the first time I heard the Andorians refer to the humans as "pinkskins". -
Wait.. I get it now.. Eureka got cancelled to make way for a new show...
Eureka Trek
Watch Captain Fargo with first mate, I mean executive officer, Holly (giggity) and crew aboard <did they name their ship yet?> as they explore the local stellar neighborhood around Earth/Sol system after their first maiden voyage to Titan.
Hear Henry say, "I'm a garage mechanic, Fargo, not a doctor. Wait, I am a doctor. And mayor."
Hear Allison tell Fargo, "No, I'm not wearing one of those old Star Trek miniskirts as a uniform."
Of course, Holly will (and the nerds of the world will rejoice).
Seriously,
I wonder what might happen if Jack's and Allison's memories get noticed for the time travelling changes. -
Quote:.. got me right there...Its the new holy trinity of MMOs: the warrior, the gunslinger, and the incredibly stacked
Quote:furry. One takes aggro, one attacks from range, one gets all males ages 13 to 55 to sign up.
Truthfully though, CoX does fine for me for the stacked part.
I won't be bothering with it; I prefer a gritty sci-fi game. I'd watch this if it was a TV cartoon, but won't play it as a game. -
Reaper Miniatures is also at PAX. Maybe a meeting will result in a few more superhero/villain miniatures for Reaper's Chronoscope line based on CoX supers. <insert hopeful emoticon here>

Quote:Expouding on this a little..Two words: Apes. Dinosaurs.
Figure a way to get them in-game, as enemies as well as a set of ape heads for the ape-inclined players to run with.
Praetoria, being an alternate Earth, could work for this. Jurassik Park could have become a real amusement in that Earth with Hamidon wars releasing the dinosaurs, whether purposely or not.
I want to play a jungle-based character (see avatar) so more woods/jungle areas in a variety of zones would work (Perez and Eden just doesn't cover enough levels).
Another option could have been a university professor (both sides) that was able to get a limited access time portal and sends volunteers on missions... which leads me to..
Have more spot contacts with missions, like university professers at the university, store clerks having a short mission arc...
and the editor is flaking on me so that's it for anow. -
Quote:Oh, these things happen. And recently here in aus we have had airline systems and even bank, ATM systems crash several times.
What also happens, rarely, is bit code changes to programs (BAL, Basic Assembler Language, code) on the fly while the system is up. Just don't tell upper management, they get real uptight about that. I had to make the coding change (it was my program), and the people in Systems checked it with three sets of eyes before their lead made the actual change with me watching. -
Quote:Then irritate yourself. Travel industry reservations systems have NO scheduled down time. They are up 24/7, barring crashes. We even loaded new software with the system up. Granted, we did it for the airline I worked for during the lowest user load times, but the system did not go down. The entire idea that any system with a large user base connected to and accessing a transaction heavy database, regardless of infrastructure, will not have to have regular maintenance outages is simply a non-starter. Even the most resilient database systems like the stock market have scheduled downtime for users.
The reason this topic makes me rage, BTW, is that anyone in the technology industry speaking from a position of authority who informs people that impossible things can be done, irritates me. -
I wonder how many nerdgasms occurred when Holly said "Let's have sex.", or Fargo became the most desired man to become at that point, or both.
No, I didn't. She's sort of cute, but not that cute. Now if it was Alison that had said that.... -

I loved the concept when the arcade game out. But I recognized the money-sucking Clockwork
immediately and only played it once for one quarter's worth. I had to wait awhile as it was always being played whenever I came across a machine. Then I found D&D and a new group of friends, who I still keep in touch with these many years later, to play that game with every Saturday during college and not need to throw money away to have some sword & sorcery fun.

Quote:I disagree. IMO, you should be able to pick a travel power at character creation. I always thought this from the first moment I started playing this game many years ago and it is one of the things I dislike about the game. What gets me is moving travel powers up from level 14 to level 4. I mean, for crying out loud, you already get jetpacks just for sneezing, why do you need to be getting inherent travel that early? (Not to mention it makes a mock of Kheldians' ability to fly or teleport from the get-go, and the "City Traveler" vet reward. :P )
I remember when travel actually used to be hard. And as much as I grumbled about it, and am happy with the recent merging of transport lines, Ouroboros travel ability, and SG base porters, I can't help feeling a little sad that they're making it so easy now.
Now with it being available at level 4 soon, it won't be quite so bad (I was so glad to get the vet reward to pick a travel power at level 6 instead of level 14). -
Quote:Having been on Virtue the last 2-3 years looking for RP groups to play with has me come up with a couple of reasons why RP teaming isn't as easy as some believe. Many roleplayers are either in Pocket D emoting or in-character chatting, or are in their own exclusive little circle of friends or SGmates. RP teaming does occur, but the RP PUG teams that I've been on do not last long and the IC chatter sometimes dies out. The few new RP SGs I've seen created are mostly redside, which I'm not all that interested in, are about Arachnos (yuck), or have some sort of demon/angel/angsty theme (double yuck).Okay, this part stopped me cold. I know redside is traditionally less populated than blueside...but VIRTUE was "normally difficult" to team on? The same Virtue that's ALWAYS #1 or #2 for server load year after year? The one with all the roleplayers on it, who cannot really play solo because there's no audience? By what conceivable standard is teaming normally difficult on Virtue? Are you roleplaying a plague carrier or something?
As for 50 woes, the incarnate system is not for most of my characters and I really don't like that path after playing it a little. I want more level 50ish (say, 45-50) story arcs, not the one big Incarnate show at the end for every one of my characters. So alting I go. -
... for some reason I'm reminded of the passengers on the "cruise" ship in the movie Wall-E and wonder if those impatient supers(players) would end up like that.
I like travelling as well.
Re: security cops missions
Take them out of the contact's must do list, have the contact mention the officer and place them on your contact list (or just clicking on the cop will do the same), and make the missions repeatable zone missions. Maybe even add an extra for some other type of enemy activity that is in the zone (your option which to take).
Maybe I'll make a character named "Patience Creep" and WALK every where, wearing a trenchcoat and nothing else. (nah) -

I took a screenshot of the slider positions and referred to that when making a "new" character. I haven't looked at that since the Save/Load feature was added.

Quote:Thanks. For a better look at the beam/laser in each animation, here's a preview:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luxLH_LKdlk
Power customization could render it closer to what you're looking for.
Wish they'd get rid of the recoil part of the animation. Looks silly for the beam to react the way it does with the recoil effect, besides that, energy weapons don't have recoil. -

Flirtin' with Disaster - Molly Hatchet
Black Betty - Ram Jam
..there's probably a website with such a list. I've seen this asked before. -

101. Get back the time I took to read that list.

I was thinking more Ferngully, without the sexy fairy, especially near the end. But now that you mentioned Whoville, it's sort of both.
