Having played Rad a bit more on some more teams, I've decided that I don't like it. I find it's downsides to be too overwhelming.
On a quick moving team I found the debuffs to make little to no difference, the mobs were dying before RI even finished animating. If I jumped the gun and got the debuff in first before the team attacked, I'd end up dead from taking the alpha, regardless of the debuffs and then the team would just steamroll over the spawn. The radius on the toggle powers RI / EF are too low to be effective on big spawn that likes to run around a lot. Slowing them down with LR only helps so much before they scatter or someone scatters them with a KB power. -
Quote:I think what he was getting at is that AV's have massive resistance to debuffs.I love dark as a secondary the negetive to hit debuff stacks nicly with RI and when you get TT at level 15 (I think) it becomes a lot easier to lock down the mobs around your anchor. Oh as for being not as good versus AVs? Lingering Rad. gets rid of that pesky thing called Regen. ask a lot of the folks around here how handy that is.
My math maybe wonky but I calculated that LR's massive -500% regen debuff will be nerfed to -31.2% regen debuff by a level 54 AV. Same for all debuffs applied to an AV. -
I don't really see anything of interest in the cold domination set. Infrigidate is a single target weaker version of radiation infection, snow storm is just a slowing debuff which creates a lot of visual interference. Sleet is a static version of enervating field that's on a long cooldown that you don't get until level 26. Seems to me cold doesn't offer that much. I might be wrong.

How's Ice Blast as a secondary? I figured it'd be OK since it has the blaster level Blizzard. Alternatively I was considering Rad blast as a secondary.

How good of a set is Rad Emission?
I decided to create a support defender to boost any teams "arresting" efficiency. It's early days yet but I'm noticing that Rad might not be as awesome as I thought.
The first main power, radiation infection has a quite low radius and with mobs moving around I find it hard to keep a whole mob debuffed. I assume it's the same with Enervating field.
Does it get better? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better team support powerset? I figure if im teaming it'll be with with higher level teams so powers that don't require a tohit check are ideal. -
First, a bit of clarification; by nuke I mean big, slow recharging attack with end crash and not-a-nuke I mean attacks like full-auto and rain of arrows.
How good are the l32 powers, how much should I base my powerset choice around that final power? Is the end crash at the end of a nova worth the blast or should I stick with something usable more often like RoA or Full-auto? -
How does psychic blast perform solo compared to other sets? I'd check my Mids but i'm suffering from the crazy blaster numbers glitch at the moment. Does the psi damage make a big difference in terms of def / res ? How useful is the -rchg secondary?
As always your input is appreciated. -
Having seen the video, I think it looks spectacular. I can't wait to roll a kinetic melee. I hope the damage justifies the long animations, but I'll still roll one even if it doesn't. On a seperate note I love KB. KB is great so long as it's single target. I agree scattering a spawn is not good.

Which wins as the best overall damage increaser? Scourge is nice when the crits start kicking in towards the end of the fight, but against minions it's not that great since the minion was already gunna die. Defiance's stacking damage buff seems nice, kinda like Fury but not as good.
Anyone else have any insights? -
Hi everyone, I have a concept floating around in my head for some sort of psychically enhanced gunslinger blaster.
The choice comes down to either Dual Pistols or Assault Rifle. My question is how does each primary synergise with the MM secondary?
Also is MM any good as a secondary? I've never played it but it looks pretty decent, more useful than the other Blaster secondaries.
Overall would the concept be able to function as a mostly solo character?
Thanks for your indulgence. -
Do VEATs get an inherent travel power like Kheldians do?
-
What role do VEATs fulfil in the grand scheme of things? The other ATs have defined roles like tank, melee damage, ranged damage or support. Which roles do VEATs fill and how do they compare in general to a normal AT?
-
Is it any good? I'm currently leveling a SS/Elec brute and just wondering if it's going to be any good at the end of it all.

What's the most solo friendly secondary power set for a corruptor, especially when paired with DP primary?
-
So I tried the Champions Online open beta yesterday... let's just say that it inspired me to renew my CoX subscription and cancel the pre-order.
So now I'm back in the City of Heroes on Defiant, I hung around for a bit doing some missions but it seemed awfully quiet, I barely saw another soul and not a whisper of chatter. What's the community like on Defiant now? Is anyone still playing? -
I'm quite enjoying my Arch/Mental blaster. I love the archery powers because I enjoy the simple, not-flashy, smooth animations.
I picked mental because it has a few powers that seem useful which I often find lacking in other secondaries. Psychic scream is a nice cone attack, drain psyche is pretty awesome. It has the required build up power. Not got to world of confusion yet, it looks nice not sure how useful though. Scare seems to be a simple single target fear, bit of OK mitigation. And then theres Psychic shockwave, a nuke with a stun and no crash. Not a very damaging nuke, but it has a fast recharge.
All in all i'm finding /mental to be a very nice secondary. -
When ever I click the city of heroes icon, the one that launches the CoH updater:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.EU.exe"
Windows Vista UAC pops up and demands that allow it access to my computer. It's not major but its kinda annoying. Is there anyway to grant it permanent access or is there an update to CoH updater that vista doesnt hate?
Please no flames about using Vista, it came with the PC. -
Mind Control? Is it any good? It seems to have everything a controller needs in the control department, and its psychic too which should make it good against most villains. So why don't people talk about it? And I havn't exactly seen a lot of mind controllers on teams recently... ok I havn't seen ANY!
Is mind control bad? Does the lack of a pet kill the set? -
What makes Fire / Kin so good? is it simply imps and fulcrum shift? That sounds boring and OP if it is. I at least want to have some fun with it.

What would you guys say the very best solo farmer toon would be, on the blue side. Without any sets to start off with. By best I mean able to generate as much inf as possible in the shortest space of time avoiding death where possible.

I'm looking at making a Brute character as I have heard that they are the easiest villain AT to solo with.
My objective is to level to 50 as quickly and painlessly as possible to give the new VEATs a try. Is brute the right AT for this?
What secondary powerset should I choose to support myself solo? I've heard that WP might be best, but I'm not a big fan of WP really.
Could someone give a brief run-down on the strengths and weakness of each secondary AT please and recommend one for me.
Thanks very much. -
I settled on arch / nrg. Everything i read suggested that /dev is gimp, but i was still tempted.
I could do with a little advice on costume though, anyone have any good suggestions for an archer costume? -
Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice on making a new blaster. I have no real clue about whats best in primary or secondary sets. Ideally I want a blaster who can solo effectivly, even if it takes a second build. He should also be able to work well in a team, can't say im really interested in the "blapper" concept.
Please post suggestions on best Primary / Secondary combinations with a bit of justification.
Thanks very muchly, I'm just getting back into the game and want to do well -
I've been playing around with SR in Mids Hero Designer, with all the defense powers on and slotted with defense SO's, I get around 30% defense. That doesnt really seem a lot to me since defense is the only... defense a SR scrapper gets.
Does the entire set rely on broadswords or katana's and the parry ability which lets you bump your defense up to crazy levels?
Is SR viable with other powersets?
Is 30% defense more powerful than it sounds, I take 30% defense as 30% change not to be hit. Is that the case?
On the topic of defense, how does the new Shields powerset work out?
I look forward to some constructive posts on the subject, please don't flame me for my n00bishness.
