  1. Awhile ago, I did a post on group fly, and how it either needed to be changed or just done away with. The majority of comments on that were in agreement on changes being made with group fly being that there were more negatives than positives with that power.

So, with that being said, is Teleport Foe another one of those "early in the beginning powers, circa 2004" that was added by the dev's without not too much thought when CoH first came out? I ask as I have tried in the past to find a very valid reason to use this power while in battle with teams and solo. Based on what paragonwiki states "You can teleport a single foe directly next to yourself. A successful hit must be made in order to teleport the target, and some powerful foes cannot be teleported. This power can be interrupted." Now here is the key. Some more powerful foes cannot be teleported. I have found that even some Foes a couple of levels above myself not an EB or AV but regular lieutenants will normally not TP. Okay, so I can use it on minions and lightweight foes, great.

I know that sometimes it can be very handy and practical to TP a high ranking boss away from their minions to help save the team in wipeout deaths from aggroing large groups. This issue here is Teleport Foe will not let you TP a high ranking foe. On most teams I've been on, we are normally going against some high level foes and bosses. This, out of all it's negatives, has got to be the biggest bugaboo with this power. If there was a way to enhance this with enhancement IO's or other means then that would be great but that is not the case.

If someone out there in CoX land can tell me how they have been using their Teleport Foe and how they find it practical in team and solo use, by all means, please get on the soap box and let us know because I would really like to understand the logic on this and how Teleport Foe can be a practical power.
  2. While we are on the subject of controlling non-MM pets, I also made a suggestion awhile back about having the ability to name non-MM pets instead of just having our hero or villain name hovering above their heads. I think it makes the game more personal versus being somewhat generic in nature. Individuality is the name of the game here and having the ability to name our non-MM pets would be great. I know, some pets only last 2-4 minutes then die out. So, what's to keep that from at least giving them a name? My Dominator's Gremlins for example, I would love to give each of them a name. Maybe Zip & Zap or Socket & Plugs, Shocker & Static,.....I think you get the picture.
  3. I would say maybe have it on the front end again versus covering the sign-in screen for the new NCSoft launcher. My reasoning as follows:

Having the legal agreement on the front end of the game I believe is less intimidating then throwing it at your face at the login page. I know, it's a legal agreement and they want everyone to know and read what it says so there is no misunderstandings on any and all legal ramifications within the game. I say "intimidating" because that is what I felt when I first saw it broadcast over half my screen after I downloaded the new launcher. It's as if they are saying "Hey, we want to make sure you, the player, understands any and all consequences and rules when playing this game and we will throw it in your face if we have to in order to make you understand". This is a game. I am not ordering a drivers license through the DMV. Just add it to the front end like it was before and maybe make it smaller. By making us click the "play now" button will acknowledge that we have read it even if we didn't, which I am sure 98.5% of us don't, should still stand up in court.

    Player:"Your Honor, I didn't know I couldn't call myself Superman".
Judge: "Sorry, but by clicking the "play now" button you acknowledge you read the legal agreement. No CoH for 10 days is your punishment".
  4. Yeah, I should have been more clear on my post. I meant Vet Reward Respec which meant I would have to go to a contact in order to respec. I'll try this guy out. Thanks all!
  5. Anyone know where to go to respec your toon in Praetoria.

    Thanks.
  6. So, last week, I decided it was time to try my hand a another Tanker with hopes of making it past level 20 before I realized that I made a mistake on my build or my Archetype. I went the Stone/Stone route. Thinking that I would pick-up the Power Pool Leaping, and then got Combat Jumping with the ultimate goal of getting Acrobatics to help with knockback. Things were fine until I picked-up Rooted under my primary powersets. I am currently at level 19.

Based on what paragon wiki states "While this power is active, you merge with the Earth and draw forth its power to become resistant to Knockback, Sleep, Hold, Disorient and Endurance Drain effects, and increase your Hit Point Regeneration rate. You must remain in close contact with the Earth, so you will move extremely slow and you cannot active Fly powers, Sprint, Super Speed, or Jump powers while this power is active. Rooted also grants you resistance to Defense DeBuffs." Now, unknown to me, was you cannot use your Combat Jumping while this power is active. It made me think how much I will use my Rooted in combat which I am thinking all the time based on what it can give you.

I guess it all comes down to what powerset has more bells and whistles to give you the most bang for your buck, would that be a correct assumption? I do know that Rooted does hinder your movement speeds greatly so if I needed to be more agile, then would it be practical to have Aerobics to help with knockback when Rooted is turned off? I guess I am not to used to having powers toggle off when another powerset is turned on. It seems that Granite Armor also has that same deal and other powers cannot be active at the same time. It's my first Stone/Stone Tanker so I am learning the ropes on this. The last thing I would hate to do is pick-up a useless power when another power is as practical if not more so than what I picked.

  8. I was wondering how long it would take before we finally got rid of the old and ancient CRT Computer Monitors that we have seen throughout the game. Well my friends, someone has finally realized that computer monitors are now much thinner and sleek looking....heh...heh.

Every time I would run into a room and see one of "the ancients" as I shall call them, CRT Computer Monitors, it made me think of a much earlier time in our infant internet and computer times. When TV's were thicker and heaver, where a CRT Computer Monitor would take up your whole desk top and you have no room for your coffee cup. A time long long ago well before iPhones and iPads. Yes my friends, someone has finally taken notice and said it is time to bring CoH into the 21st Century. And in the words of one Jean-Luc Picard from the Star Ship Enterprise, "Make it so" and "Engage" my friends "Engage".

    yes that's what I meant.
  10. Ever since I've been playing this game as of Jan. 09', I always seems to end up picking the same Power Pools for "all" my 14 toons. I will always take Flight as I find that the most beneficial based on maneuverability. I will always take Hasten, as I find that extra recharge boost very helpful. I always take Leaping for Combat Jumping for that extra resistance against immobilization. And may even take Acrobatics later on to help with knockbacks. Also now that Fly, Sprint, Leaping and Stamina are now all inherent powers to start, it seems the dev's also knew what was being used the most to make these inherent powers.

Of course for some of my toons, I have no choice in the matter on travel powers, case in point my Warshade Rhino with TP as the travel power. And I would never need Concealment or Invis for my Stalker or Widow being that have that stealth/hidden ability or any other Archetype that may have ability to somewhat stealth themselves based on what their primary or secondary power sets might be to not have to pick-up a power like Concealment or Invisibility.

With all that being said, it would seem that Hasten has always been a "must have" power that I cannot think of any legit reason no one would ever pick this up? Who wouldn't want to reduce the amount of time their powers recharge? This would also leave me with extra slots for other powers that I would have had to use for recharges. Once by accident in respec'ing my Blaster, I forgot to add my Hasten in. (doh!!). So it was definitely noticeable not having it. If someone can tell me why they would not take Hasten and give me a good solid reason, then by all means, the floor is your sir.

    Rework GMs

Think about how cool it would be to have a GM waltzing around foggy Dark Astoria? Could it be the Cloverfield Monster? Who knows? I do agree that seeing the "regular" GM's has not brought the same "hey everyone, come to such and such and help us fight some GM" in the broadcast window and everyone comes running to help build the hysteria.

I would also suggest that having a somewhat random/event type breeding of GM's out and about can be fun at times, not just around Halloween, Winter Events, etc. I think that the dev's should come up with a few more types of GM's. Just like anything we try that is new, after awhile it will become stale if changes are not made to make the event of fighting a GM more enjoyable for all.

  12. I am about 100% sure this one has been mentioned before many-a-times but I will bring it up again to see why this cannot be done.

I recently had a level 33 demon sum/trick arrow MM. For the life of me, I never liked the trick arrow. I am not sure why I even picked it to begin with? This was one toon I just didn't enjoy the Secondary Powerset. I wanted a "do over". I am very sure there are many out there that have started up toons only to discover that they made a grave mistake on the Secondary Powerset they picked, only to realize that they are now level 40 and they don't want to start over again. So, the other day, I ended up starting the same toon over again and picked a new Secondary Powerset, Storm Summoning that I am much happier with. I am now level 10..heheh.

To be honest, being at level 33, I was very hesitant to start over again. I had to do something but what? So, this brings me to my original question, why don't we have the ability to respec out of a Secondary Powerset? Respec'ing will only give you the ability to re-pick and re-slot your powers, your "same" powersets. I know there are those out there that will say that one should take their time when picking secondary sets as to no mess up like we sometimes do and like I did. Maybe there could be something out there like a "rare respec". Maybe call it a Super Respec meaning not only will it allow you to re-pick and re-slot your powers but will also give you the ability to pick a new Secondary Powerset. These Super Respecs would be more rare than basic respecs but can be earned through various TF's or Trials, Veterans Awards and sometimes by the dev's if a new issue might require it. What do you guys think?

    2. If you need to read the manual, you're most likely a new player and your character won't be optimized to face purple cons.
I did when I first started with CoH. Yes, it would only be for new players. Like others have said, I just found it almost somewhat comical looking back at the "time capsule" manual I also had a few giggles on some of the stuff they mentioned. I brought the color code thing up because maybe back in the day, purples were scary. Now, everyone eats them for lunch..heh..heh. I have found that paragonwiki is now the info highway for most of CoH in what I need to know. And yes, by them doing another new current paper manual would always need to be tweaked when new additions are added to the game such as GR and how the alignment system works. Its easier and probably more cost effective just to send someone to a website and being that websites are pretty much liquid information, can always be updated. Though they could still do a .pdf version that anyone can download for nostalgia purposes.
  14. It has occurred to me that for some time the CoH Manual might need an update. Without going through what should be added and what should be taken out, I just wanted to bring to light the color coding for foes. Take a good look at the purple. "Far ahead of your power level. Do not engage one-on-one. Purples near your level may be successfully engaged in groups". Ahhh seriously?...heh...heh. When I solo that's all I fight are purples. Being that this game has a lot of people who solo versus doing team mish'es, I think the color coding for these powers should go something like this:

    GRAY COLOR:
Can crush them like bugs soloing. No contest what-so-ever. See them scatter like ants! Significantly less powerful than you.

    GREEN COLOR:
Seriously, you should have no problem with these guys soloing. You can swat them like flies. Substantially less powerful than you.

    BLUE COLOR:
Can take on solo very easily. Can be engaged in groups but just don't be sleeping while doing so. Much less powerful than you.

    WHITE COLOR:
Same power level as you. Should be able to handle several at once based on your archetype and powers. Might have some issues with single enemies now and then.

    YELLOW COLOR:
Slightly ahead of your power level. Combat-oriented hero's should have no problem engaging solo and depending on your archetype and powers, can engage in large groups but heed very cautiously.

    ORANGE COLOR:
Substantially ahead of your power level. Only those who are skilled in combat can engage one-on-one and based on your archetype and powers
can engage in smaller groups but take extreme caution when doing so.

    RED COLOR:

Significantly ahead of your power level. Should only be engaged one-on-one based on your archetype and powers and how skilled you are in combat. Would highly recommend not to engage in groups unless you have the game to do so. Even then, it will be tough going.

    PURPLE COLOR:
Take great caution as they are far ahead of your power level. Can be engaged solo depending on your archetype and powers. If soloing and approached in groups, survivability will be very slim. Would suggest a team to fight large groups.

That would probably do more to reduce the abuse than keeping us limited to 1 item per email.

Or even better, what I'd REALLY like to see is common storage. Share the vault between characters so I don't have to bounce all over the place trying to recall who's got that Holographic Memory I need at the moment.
Hmmm cutting the 60 down to 30 or even 10 days or less to eliminate the bulk spam abuse might work if this was implemented. I am sure there is a logical reason for one item at a time and I would have to guess it is because of spam abuse and people using their global email as an extra storage bin, the dev's probably didn't want this so thus, "one item at a time".
  16. I've thought about this one ever since I had to move a ton of level 25 IO's over from my toon in Paragon City to my level 22 toon that was in Praetoria. I am very sure this has been brought up before but I figure I would stir the coals again and see what comes up. Why do we only have the ability to move/attach/email one item at a time? If we wanted to send 10 Enhancements over or maybe a few salvage items to another toon, the attachment box will only hold one item at a time, thus you need to send separate emails for each item.

If this is a "storage" issue through the global email such as when you normally send items you are only allow a certain MB or KB size file to hold that file, not sure? If someone feels gamey and wants to explain why we don't have this feature, then the floor is yours. Even if we had to have a cap on the amount you can send like influence being capped at 999,999,999 per email so your cap on Enhancements might be 10 or 15, the same with salvage items, that would be better than one email at a time,....log off with one toon,.....sign on with another toon,....claim items,...sign back on with first toon,...rinse and repeat. I think you catch my drift here.

That's one thing that I wish this game had more of. A bigger selection of short skirt type outfits. I would like to also see some kind of incorporation of the full length outfits go to shorts. For example: Have the ability to convert these "full length" items into shorts or skirts: Jeans and Metallic Suits are two that come to mind and of course there are many many more. I think you get the picture. For all this game has on "full body" outfits, why not have more skirts and shorts available? And this should have nothing to do with "movement" problems because we're dealing with shorts and skirts.

    Fix Praetoria

I will always open up a new toon in Praetoria. Why you ask? First and foremost, I just like the environment they way things are laid out, the detail in the buildings (and yes, they have windows) unlike some in lets say Steel Canyon that are solid brick on three sides..heh..heh. I actually find it easier to solo through a large majority of contacts there. As others have said, when you make a new toon, just don't pick Praetoria as your starting point. You can go Hero or Villain to start. You are not forced to pick Praetoria as you are not forced to watch a TV show you don't like. Just change the channel.

Anyway, any further news on this? I do have a character with Field Mastery Temp Invulnerability that I haven't gotten around to Freespec'ing yet and wonder if I should wait?
It appears to be working now. I was able to re-slot my level 50 bots/traps MM with the Aegis again that I originally had in the first place and then it was bugged to where I couldn't re-slot it in my Temp Invul. Now, it is working and all is right with the world.
  20. Okay. I need to re-confirm this on slotting even though others have said the same thing. There is no need to add extra slots to flight after i18 would that be correct? And if so, I need to re-respec some toons because I have all of them three slotted on flight. Thats two extra slots I can use elsewhere.
  21. Well, I finally got my level 50 Bots/Traps MM with her Alpha Slot. I took the Cardiac Boost being that she goes though end like a drunken sailor on leave. Currently working on getting the Uncommon Boost with 33%/20% End/Dam Resist. I normally run more solo mish'es than group or TF's, thus it is a bit harder to accrue more Shard Drops on a normal toon unless you can somehow crank up the group diff level. So, using the same philosophy when trying to get purple drops, I went with the 0+/8+ settings. Running just your basic Tips mish'es, RWZ (Borea) mish'es, etc,..the Shard drop rate is much greater. I say this because I don't think there is any other Alt that can run a +8 "solo" better than a MM which can plow through foes like butter at +0/+8. My level 50 Blaster with nice AoE's has tried but death comes at a much greater rate. I wouldn't even think of running my Scrappers at this level. If someone is running a +8 not using a MM, I'd be curious to know what Alt they have and how they do it. For my Blaster, I'd phase shift into the middle of a large group, turn off phase and then activate my Nova. Boom! But then right after, I need to run and hide or pop some more blues otherwise I'm screwed.
  22. Thanks for that guys. Yeah, those blue patches are murder and knowing how to move around them is very helpful knowledge. The good thing is the last two times I've ran this TF, one without Alpha Boost and one with my Alpha Damage Boost, we finished the TF all the way through.
  23. I ask this because last night was my first attempt at this after I just got my Alpha Boost for my level 50 KM/SD Scrapper which I went with the Damage Boost. Regardless, I still ended up dying too many times to count. Either I had to Hosp. it or self-rez if I had a wakie. Now, I've ran many TF's in this game from Hami to Tin Mage, but for some reason and it seems from what others have said, this TF is a slaughter house. I know the first time I ran it (without boost) I was instructed to keep moving around constantly otherwise you will get hit with that blue wall of energy which pretty much did me in last night. I know having the right mix of players is key to this. Knowing what your assignments are is also key. I tried to find more info on this TF through paragonwiki but it really didn't give strategies on how to do this one the best way to stay alive. Who has the best strategy on this TF that would be helpful?

Hmmm Okay. All I was trying to achieve was a "quick" view on knowing which enhancements have recipes to be crafted. I know about that tab in the lower corner and hiding recipes missing ingredients. I wanted something with a quick view without having to click on another tab in order to see what can be crafted. That way, you can quickly see, craft and be on your way.
