Third mission was Circle of Thorns, and technically doesn't count, since I realized halfway through that I'd left Sprint on, but hopefully you won't hold that massive survivability boost against me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you slot Sprint for defense... you might be Werner.

For whatever reason I just cannot get into SR, I am forcing myself to play my dm/sr scrapper but it's so easy. Toggles up and go, but I like to actively play my character and constantly be on the verge of death only to leap away and laugh in it's face!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just do what I do for entertainment on my DM/SR - turn all your toggles OFF and run invincible missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When you're soloing invincible Rikti without using your secondary... you might be Werner.

I dunno... I just keep stabbing her, and that seems to work pretty well for me. 'Specially since she's a ghost.

I beat it on a dom and a huntsman...

I guess it was meant for melee toons? I had little trouble.

What difficulty level did you use?

Did anyone ever have then chance to link him to that angry German kid playing unreal?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was actually a staged video. The kid did it for, as I recall, a couple different games/languages, but the Unreal one was the only one that got really widely publicized. Snopes.com has an article about it, I believe.

Also: On subject. Everyone does have the right to an opinion, yes. But, just as you have the right to say "I think rocks are the answer!" in a discussion of the validity of Hegel's System, so too do I have the right to declare that your brain is vestigial.
  6. I tried it once. On tenacious, I died four times before completion, and I didn't bother sweeping the map. After wave three, I called it a night.

At the time, I was way too busy fighting for my life to take down numbers, but my recollections are that Wave Two gave me the most trouble. I had very little trouble defeating Wave One, and Wave Three fell with some- but less than Two- trouble.

All considered, I agreed with MunkiLord. It was a lot more stress than I needed.

Recharge Reduction is your lord and master, then I tend to equally value +defense and +health.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, no, see Foamy the Squirrel is our Lord and Master. Recharge Reduction is the abusive lover who continuously beats you for more money, and never quite gives enough back to satisfy you.

Ah! No, baby, I love you, I do! I swear, I'm coming back I just- Augh! No, baby. I'm just getting influence from some Task Forces! Really! Ow! No, I'm not cheating on you with Positional Defense! No-argh! Oh, baby, please. No, please put down the chair, baby. Please! Oh, God. Oh, no. Oh, no.
  8. Excellent, thank you. That basically sums up all the theoretical stuff I think I'll need. From here on out, it's all practical application.

jranger was a poster infamous for answering nigh ANY thread with the single word answer "no". no explanation, etc.

It became so common, other posters adopted "/jranger" as a trendy to say "no" while also implying the topic wasn't worthy of further discussion.

Mod8 made a thread about not using such responses, so now we can only use it as part of a longer post supporting or refuting an idea (mainly in S&I). I can't find that thread now, though.

Another poster who became infamous in a different way is "power" who is known for incoherent "suggestions" that are pretty hard to follow due to a nigh complete lack of grammar and spell-checking. We can't use his name to ridicule posts/threads either, but we did for a while with "/power" meaning basically "huh?!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

I recall someone coming up with /jpowerranger at one point. That was funny.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Did it look like... this?

First off, Peacebringers and Warshades are Kheldians, but Peacebringers are not Warshades. So, what you've built is a Warshade, not a Peacebringer even though you mention starting out with a PB.

[/ QUOTE ] I must have missed a pronoun somewhere- I meant to convey I was trying a Warshade build after not quite liking Peacebringers.

    [ QUOTE ]
Unchain Essence could use some love, especially since coupled with Gravitic Emanation it makes a good tool for stunning Bosses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What would you recommend? Slotting for accuracy? Stun duration? Damage? Recharge? As much of the above as I can?

    [ QUOTE ]
... I think the Fitness could be skipped entirely, mainly because your Human-form attack-chain is not going to actually require you to stay in Human-form for long periods of time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I took Fitness because I couldn't really come up with something I might want instead. Is there anything that'll add to my survivability/damage output more?
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Two reasons for doing this. The first is because its fun. The second is knowing which groups are the hardest and easiest. If the PUG I am leading doesn't have a good balance I can switch to the easier groups. If people complain and say the missions are too easy then I can pick a harder group.

When I finish I will have a road map from level 1 to 50 for running PUGs using the basic NPC groups.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Careful, though. Many villain groups have enemies, with some hardcore debilitating effects, that aren't bosses. Furthermore, some status effects are quite nasty to PCs, but have little effect on NPCs- end drain, for example.

I can only imagine what that drug is meant to actually treat.

Y'know, if you read the backstory to the Trolls, nobody actually knows where Superadine came from, how it was discovered or what its original purpose was...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I'm we've already found out that it was originally a super-soldier drug from WWII. Check the main site and the "top secret" section for the Family.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You heard it here! Captain America took Superadine!
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I'm the worst kind of poster ever *shrug*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lies. You're honest about it. Second-to-last rung material, I think. Happy birthday.

To the OP: The first thing I noticed: You've got 72.1% Melee Defense. I then remembered that Widows don't get defense debuff resistance, and picked my jaw up off the floor.

Your totals are all on the high side of solid- it looks like you'll be able to do almost anything you want to. Good luck.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I can't be of much help here, sadly, but I was wondering where your sig comes from. It seems very familiar.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The full quote comes from Holly Lisle's novel Diplomacy of Wolves, and is as follows:

    [ QUOTE ]
All men die, Antram. All men age and wither and creep at last into their dark graves, and from thence into the flames of hell or cold oblivion, as their theology dictates. But to only a few men do the gods give a task, a burden, a road to greatness that can, if they take it, raise them above the thick clouds of complacency that blind most eyes and plug most ears. To only a few men do the gods give true pain, which removes the bloated cushion of softness and brings sharp awareness of the preciousness of life; which raises up heroes and strips cowards naked before the world. You, Antram, will do great things. Yu will see, you will feel, you will breathe and touch and revel in each moment you are given. And you will suffer great pain. And someday, whether soon or late, you will die. But all men die, Antram. Few ever live."

    [/ QUOTE ]
  15. So, I usually play more damage-oriented characters. My first fifty was a Scrapper, and my second was a Brute. However, I sat down to try out Peacebringers about a week ago, and they just didn't quite click for me. So, I went back over some guides. I poked around here, and played around in game a bit. I've put together a build, and I'd like some opinions.

First up- it's triform. I putting a bit more emphasis on Human and Nova powers, because I don't really know much about tanking, so I'm going to save Dwarf form for an off-tank/panic button situations, or times where I'm teaming and comfortable with the current pace.

Other notes: I took Superspeed instead of Nebulous form. I think it'll give me better overall utility.

  16. Quickly- what is this toggle block he's talking about? Is it the part where your toggles un-toggle when you switch form? 'Cause, if that's the case, you're not going to even want to think about what they did to Instant Healing.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
The reason this playstyle drives me crazy is that it wastes MY time as a support team member trying to figure out who just attacked what and whether its safe to assist them yet. While you might have defenses good enough to survive multiple things shooting at you, I and the rest of the squishies generally don't, and a Scrapper's ability to protect me if I miscalculate aggro is about zero.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why are you attacking the same targets as a Scrapper? It's simply not going to be alive long enough for you powers to be anything but wasted, and regardless, it's focusing on the scrapper, not the rest of the group. That mob is effectively out of the fight. As a support character, your powers would be more effectively used against lower-priority, status-effecting mobs, no? Ignore the Sappers and target the Gunslinger, as it were.

    [ QUOTE ]
And if you are wondering why the tank is standing around while you are running in, its often because s/he is trying to make sure not run toward the group she was *originally* planning to attack before you went charging in. There's a reason most teams designate a single person to lead the charge. It's to make sure everyone is shooting at the same group so the Blaster doesn't end up peeling aggro off the Scrapper in a mob she expected to be Taunted and fully controlled, while the Controllers blow their AoEs on the group next door. When someone runs in unexpectedly it's jarring and forces all other team members to recalculate their next move. How would you like it if the Storm Defender decided it would be more fun if they dropped a Tornado on the next mob because they felt like, it's fun for them, and it works when solo?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is an experience claim, not a mindset. A decent scrapper should be able to tell where a group is going, and decide how best to deal with the next mob. Pick a few choice targets and drop them quickly.

    [ QUOTE ]
Further, I can't tell you how many times I've been playing an Ice or Earth Controller with a maximum damage output of around 20 when the team ran off and left me face to face with a pair of bosses who con pink to me. Extra credit goes to the Scrappers who do this while never actually turning off Super Speed as they run and aggro each new mob.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, this seems to be a problem with the team, not the particular players. My sympathies for your situation, though.

    [ QUOTE ]
All of this said, it's not that I don't think a Scrapper can handle the alpha. It's more about communicating with the team and making sure we understand what you're doing. If the Tanker is designated as the, err, tank, that's who the group is expecting to follow. When you tear off on your own you at best waste our time while we rethink the situation and at worst get us all killed because we make the wrong decision.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's this little thing called trust. I trust, when I begin attacking a group, that the other people on my team will act in a manner that helps us, as a whole. If you spend all your time worrying about what everyone else is doing, you're spending no time worrying about what you should be doing. Which only hurts the team more.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
We don't rush into battle because we're impulsive. We rush into battle because we're experienced.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a very important distinction, and one that isn't made nearly often enough.
  19. Yeah, that new expansion coming out? It certainly doesn't need any more work done on it. That won't be occupying dev time in addition to I15.
  20. It sounds like the classic set-up for a Mind/Whatever You Want controller, to me. For a costume, I'd use something nice, like a dark vest over a white shirt, but not too formal. Throw on a bandana, and a pair of shades, or something.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
This is a neat idea. I'll be marking this thread as a favorite to remember to check back and see if anyone comes up with a good build for MA/SR.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't really see a way to get enough defense into SR to make it worthwhile, but I'm willing to be surprised.

    [ QUOTE ]

Mez protection is not an issue on that arc a few immobilizes and a hold once in a blue moon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Immobilize can be a pretty significant issue on a Melee AT. Also, Madness Mages and Ruin Mages can both hold, and throw in a few other nasty effects on top, and a few Eidolons can disorient.

    Mez protection worthwhile.
