  1. The difference between 44% and 45% is a visible difference: you get hit 6/5 as much.

The difference between 44.95% and 45% is not a a visible difference: you get hit 5.05/5 as much.

But, yes, a Hami-O works as (in this case) a full SO of accuracy, a full SO of endurance reduction and a full SO of Defense. That's what made them the best thing we had before IO's (and still better than IO's at some things.)

I was going to suggest Fire/Ice, but it looks like I missed the boat on recommending powersets.
  3. I don't know if we can guarantee Terminator would be overpowered. How bout if it had a backpack with four arms sticking out of it?
  4. OK, got some data for Chriffer's discussion farther upthread. Even more sparse and random than Smurphy's.

I picked three "nice but not top end" recipes. Gift of the Ancients: Defense, Numina: Heal, and Touch of Death: Dam/End/Rech.

Crafted times for the 5th most recent sale were MUCH longer in all cases (sometimes going back 9 months, hero AND villainside.) But for recipes, heroside had 5 sales much faster in almost all cases, especially the unpopular levels.

    GoTA: Defense (Vill | hero)
    L30 3/07 | 3/25
    L31 12/20 | 3/28
    L32 2/22 | 3/31
    L33 1/09 | 3/15
    L34 3/01 | 3/10
    L35 2/19 | 3/10

    Numina's Heal:
    L30 3/29 | 3/28
    L31 3/15 | 2/27
    L32 3/02 | 3/14
    L33 3/14 | 3/12
    L34 3/09 | 4/05
    L35 3/08 | 4/06

    Touch of Death, Dam/End/Rech:
    L30 3/03 | 3/14
    L31 2/08 | 3/31
    L32 3/10 | 3/16
    L33 3/24 | 3/16
    L34 2/11 | 3/16
    L35 4/02 | 4/03

Pretend for a second that you get even spacing, so the 5th most recent is a good proxy for "how often they come up".

If you set the bar for "Dramatically faster" around 66% faster, there are no cases where villainside is dramatically faster, and eight cases where heroside was.

If you set it at around 33% faster, there are two cases where villainside was dramatically faster and ten or eleven cases where heroside was.

In the worst cases, like Numina's Heal (L35), heroside is about five times faster.

I may not be competing with as many people villainside, but there's only one of me and if only one recipe a week moves, I'm going to get really frustrated if someone outbids me.
  5. I don't have complete data but I set up this thread out of frustration. When servers come up I can check specific level "last 5" sales for that and a couple other arbitrary recipes, red and blueside.
  6. ... first time I listed something for 37 million and someone bought it for 54 million [actual numbers may be wrong but they were on that order] - not a sitting bid leading to an insta-sell- I realized that I wasn't setting the price. Someone's FIRST TRY at buying that item was like 15 million higher than I listed it.

Well. That's certainly proved it to ME.
  8. I wish I could come up with a simpler, clearer explanation than Uberguy. Unfortunately, it's not a simple, clear subject... so "What Uber said."

    Hello im new

I'm too slack to test it. Anyone else feel brave?
  10. Half the changes that go into a game, on average, will make things stronger and the other half will make them weaker.

People tend to think that the "make things stronger" changes are theirs by right, and the "make them weaker" changes are abominations that should be destroyed.

I want them to roll the IO defense changes back to the good ol' days when you didn't GET typed to go with your positional, or positional to go with your typed. Back when Kin Combat gave 3.11% to Lethal, no smashing, and no melee. Back when six Thunderstrikes gave you 2.5% Energy, no Neg, and 2.5% Ranged.

    Who's with me?
  11. My issue with fighting +4s is the "half damage"* more than the "frequent misses", but I can understand that some people might want to be able to hit +4s .

    *48%, I believe.

    Bubbles !!

The "not bringing much else to the table" is what I meant by ill-formed, yes. It's so good at Defense and so bad at anything else- my belief ("theory" implies some sort of rigor that the idea does not possess) is that they want to, if possible, make LESS force fields instead of more.

    Bubbles !!

My theory has always been that FF is an ill-formed powerset and they wish they had never created it.

It's an ill-formed powerset that I have run up the levels four or five times, but it's not for everyone. It's for almost nobody, actually.

(well actually 2-shot since there's the no-1-shot death mechanism currently in the game)
This is true, mostly. They put that in after you left.

You can get hit by Ruladek the Strong for 10,000 HP and [like falling] you'll still have one HP left.

However, if you get hit by some super-Rikti doing 5000 smashing and 5000 energy, you're out of luck.
  15. Apropos of nothing: Lemme know what you've got for sale, Flea, and I will buy it for an inflated price and relist it.

Come to think of it, this goes for everyone else in this thread.

Maybe I shouldn't be posting after a fresh bottle of wine, but I'll buy ALL Y'ALL'S POOL Cs OFF THE MARKET! FOR NOTHING LESS THAN A MILLION!

Maybe when I'm sober I'll change that to ten million.
  16. You people are going to turn me into a serious marketeer again, aren't you?

    AREN'T YOU?
  17. I'm confused -other people seem to be answering with a different set of assumptions.

If you have "91%" accuracy, is that
    75% * 1.21 = 91%
    or is it
    75% * 1.91 =143%?
  18. Time Bomb isn't useless. It's just... umm...

... ever get to a certain point in a sentence and realize you don't have anywhere to go from there?

  20. My wife's "Amazing Amazon" never got hit, and she's pretty Wonder Woman-y.
  21. At some point, Kioshi, they flipped that so the highest pop servers were at the bottom. They thought there was a self-selection process going on where the most popular servers were first in line, so getting a more-than-random number of completely new people.

Aside from the order-flip, though, you're right. I think of Infinity as "#3" but there's such a huge difference between #2 and #3, and such a small difference between #3 and #7, that it's not really worth arguing about.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Words to live by.
I'm the guy that spent 18 months trying to blunt random salvage price spikes by logging in twice a day and trying to keep 10 of each midlevel salvage in stock.

I'm the guy that started Midlevel Crisis (and Teenage Wildlife) to get people out there generating rares at midlevels.

I'm the guy that is currently bribing people to roll sub-40 rares, 20 million per recipe.

So tell me. What have YOU done for the redside market, lately? Aside from telling me that I should obey your rules, of course.
  23. Wait, what?

With 30% To Hit Debuff in Fearsome Stare (20-ish against +3s) and 30% in Darkest Night (again, 20-ish against +3s) ...

how often are you going to NEED more than 20%-ish Defense? Especially considering Fluffy's contributions? (I am unclear on exactly what those are, debuffwise.) You've got your Fear, your stacked Holds, your ... umm, tentacle things, Fluffy's spamming heals, Shadowfall, I don't really see much of an issue with keeping a team alive there. (I tend to use only one of the Fear or Darkest Night for debuffs, unless I have something really ugly to tend to.) I didn't build my Dark/Psi for _any_ Defense, if I recall.

Elec mostly has end drain, which is admittedly not something that stacks well with anything in Dark, but you've got holds aplenty. You can stack Short Circuit with Thunderous blast with a fair degree of safety (that'll drop their end to zero) or you can run Power Build Up in the epic and use that with SC/Ball Lightning to get near-100% end drain.

I don't remember having any survival issues with a Darkity. Outbound damage, yeah, is not going to be amazing on a Dark/Elec. Voltaic Sentinel helps a little on tough targets, and regular Tar Patches will help, but it's a slow road, soloing.
