This is such a tough question to answer because it varies....
You asked about Claws/WP so everything Carnifax said is well-reasoned and applicable.
In the bigger picture....
Resistance sets in general start out better than Defense sets, with Defense sets surpassing in the late game (my opinion only; react accordingly). Setting the level to -1 is probably better for every build in the early game. At level 1 I usually start at -1X2 No bosses and adjust as I level.
With defense sets I adjust my settings in leaps and bounds whereas resistance sets are more of a smooth curve. I usually go to X4 as a max until late 30s. I adjust the levels to make things a challenge prior to that. Im sure I could do -1X8 at say 32 with most of my brutes but then salvage and recipe storage becomes an issue.
If optimization is really an issue, find a copy of Herostats and run that while paying attention to your Xp/Min.
As of rule of thumb, if youre mostly single target damage, you want to up the level slider more than the # slider, if youre mostly aoe, you want to up the number slider more than the level slider....
To recap....It depends. -
Ya know...if youre not teaming, the fastest way would most definitely be a brute (Willpower would be my choice, with some good early aoe dealer being the primary).....red side anyhow. If youre teaming, then anything really...
Now as for what to do...I would think the standard story arcs would be the quickest (as long as you picked what villain group you ran against with care.) Avoid CoT, Sky Raiders and a few others....and run against Freaks, council etc (the usual list). Id pick a few arcs I wanted to do ahead of time and ear mark those.
Regardless, judicious use of the difficulty slider (I would think increasing numbers more than the levels) and taking advantage of story arc bonuses would be best. -
Just regular ole SOs can be bought at Ghost Falcon (Peregrine Island) or the merchant in Grandville for red side.
Recipes for common IOs can be bought at any crafting location from the table itself (University, RWZ, your SG base). You would have to craft yourself, but there you go.
Set IOs are only purchasable through WW (or Black Market) or from individual players. Or you could attack stuff and hope to get a Level 50 Blessing of the Zephyr but you know...that might take a while.
Also, just about anything can be bought from the ticket vendor in AE.

The difference in price between level 49 recipes (and lower) and level 50 is enough to merit running at 50. Maybe when youre starting the farming process you can run at -1 but once you've sunk a few hundred million into a character its probably time to up the diff so you can earn faster. Honestly the time between killing a mob set X8/0 and a mob set X8/+2 is hardly noticable on my farmers.

Quote:Give me a billion inf and every character I have will wax rhapsodic about how awesome whatever toon you have is. Some examples:
"<Insert Toon Name Here> is teh awesomesauce!"
"Wow! <Insert Toon Name Here> really put the smack down on the Hellions in Atlas Park!"
" I love <Insert Toon Name Here>! I want to carry his love child!"
" shh! We are not worthy to speak <Insert Toon Name Here> 's name."
"I heard that <Insert Toon Name Here> actually invented AE, not that Aeon fop."
"I know for a fact that <Insert Toon Name Here> actually completed the Cavaren of transcendence trial with a PUG, three times."
"It's an established fact that <Insert Toon Name Here> invented influence. You can look it up."
"if you team with <Insert Toon Name Here> you will automatically be raised to level 50. Permanently."
"Just knowing that <Insert Toon Name Here> is out there gives me a warm fuzzy. Sigh."
In the spirit of the market forum, Id be willing to do the same for 999,999,999 inf -

this is also exactly what i was saying about if you charge too high of an inf rate people wont use it, in order for it to be a sink, people need to make use of it, the little idea i came up with was affordable, and yet a huge sink (the for the longer you extended it), so if you really really wanted your arc to be posted, you would have to fork some extra dough, but for just 1 week on 1 billboard you wouldnt fork over an arm and a leg for it
If you get 10X as much under plan B....why do you care if 90% less use it than Plan A?
My point, while I agree with you as a matter of principle, is that the term "too much" is subjective. And while I wouldnt touch any billboard idea that didnt allow me to put something like "Synapze farts a lot", the fact is my idea of disposable income does not neccessarily equate to others ideas of disposable income. Im trying to target the Upper class and yer targeting the Upper Middle Class....
So IM liking the idea of a tiered advertisement system...AP, SC, Talos and PI cost the most GC, Boomtown etc....not so much. -
Quote:Yer funny...come to the market forum and deride people for marketearing....next go to the PVP forums and tell them you played the game instead of playing virtual fight clubIn this day and age with such souces of inf, there's much more convinient ways to make inf.
So for DXP i can't even think what i made, i think i got a heca or something but i forgot. So yeah i decided to play the game as opposed to playing virtual ebay.
I dont mind really, just a funny way to conduct business...
I didnt ramp up...didnt really worry about swapping slots, but the volume of people buying things allowed me to move quite a bit without really trying. Market slots kept turning over while I was playing. And honestly I was never the last one to the mission when I did swap slots around....usually closer to first.

Quote:... so far I'm up around 200 million on my mild level 50 Thunderstrike/Crushing Impact flipping spree. 10 of each type, each side, selling for 5.1 million each. Most sold for 6 million, but a lot sold for 10. Actually, most didn't sell, but I expected that and that's why I marked them up ... umm, I don't remember how they do retail math, it's either 90% or 900%. Bought for half a million each.
Also, to my surprise, I flipped a few respecs. (Guys! I was just trying to store a couple billion! )
Respecs dropped in price over 2XP (or they were inflated beforehand)...Id been quietly buying at 160m and selling at 200m then all of a sudden Im seeing my billionaire storage buy order of 10 respecs at 130m start hitting and Im blinking in confusion....thatll teach me to store moola at more absurd prices...you know, just in case they hit. -
Quote:While Im not elitist about it...the point is to try and burn some of the excess inf out there. The scope of inf generation across the game is staggering to think about....Your numbers make a microscopic dent. We're not trying to get the casual people to spend money in this case...we're trying to get the hardcore to blow their wad.this would be good, but 100 mil is a bit steep, on a good day i can make maybe 5-10 mil inf per day (not selling anything on market) (and im also a bit more active than a "casual" player)
maybe something like 10 mil per week, then charge an additional 100 mil for extra billboards they want to use
like an ad it could run for determined amount of time between 1 week and 4 weeks, since each week would be 10 mil, then to run it for 4 weeks its 40 mil for just the first billboard, then 100 mil per week per extra billboard
so for example if someone wanted to use 4 billboards for 3 weeks
3 weeks x 10 mil = 30 mil
3 additional billboards x 100 mil = 300 mil x 3 weeks = 900 mil
total inf cost of the "ad" would be 930 mil for 4 billboards for 3 weeks
the more inf you had the more you could advertise your sg or something, but it wouldnt be overpriced for the casual player, since most of the cost is from additional billboards, since the single billboard would only be 10 mil
It needs to be something that multiple people can buy for an obscene amount that would delete that moola from the economy with no actual game playing benefit. The idea is to make a resource to help the "social market" (socialpvp coined here) be an inf sink like no other.... Because the inf sinks we have now are not enough.
I think a billion a week or something along that line is acceptable. -
Quote:just what we need. a 1000th post about being broke or why and the same thoughts from the same people about it. find a new topic this month please.
If we dont ask the question repeatedly, the only answer we will get will be the ones we've had before....the ones from the same people for the 1000th time. Asking the question over and over is the only way to challenge perceptions and potentially change the status quo. -
Im totally gonna go buy one from myself for 450m.....and then take a screenshot...
As my 7 yr old says..."This could not possibly be a bad plan"

By the time I had my second character to the SO range, I had all the colors of SOs and DOs figured out (odd exception like intangibility of course)....also, despite the names SOs are listed in alphabetical order by what they do. Of course figuring that out took me a lot longer..
Oh, now I see what my color blind SG mate was always complaining about...suddenly I feel less smart.... -
Theres no such thing as nonviable brute build. Well I guess there is, but in my experience its hard to make one...
Im not an expert on Elec/Elec, I have one at 50 but I havent really focused on tweaking him out....
1) Youre looking to add Defense to your build yet you havent added the Steadfast Unique. Find a spot for it...its 15Million uncrafted for the level 30 version or less. Id take two slots out of Grounded and put in the -KB and +3% there. Then do something else with Power Surge
2) Energize would definitely benefit more from Recharges than the Uniques you have in there....maybe 5 Doctored Wounds for the +5% to recharge? Focus on Recharge and Heal
3) Power Sink with 0 acc? Is that wise?
4) You dont need all those slots in Weave. Id go 3 slots with the three being +7.5%, Def, and Def/End. You get almost neglible benefits past those three (End/Rech? Really?)
Theres more I would do but Im not someone who would completely break down a build and put it together the way I would do it. Just want to tweak what you have.... -
I wouldnt worry too much about not taking or taking inf with you. Inf literally falls from the skys on most of my level 50s. If I have a purpled out build I want to cross over I would just make more inf. Otherwise email yourself whatever you need....
But really....
Merge the markets already -
Quote:Can we just chalk this one up to perspective? From a flippers point of view (but Im really not a flipper at this point, Im a crapper) its the uninformed buying the item at his sell point that sets the price....and I can see how the buyer would think the opposite. While I disagree with the buyers hypothesis, my opinion doesnt change his perceived reality.
Search the threads for a post by gamemaster ? He details the technique for creating a wave. It was a very nice outline of the technique. Perhaps after reading it you might chose to examine your assumptions, or the fact that you seem to be blindly repeating things you have heard without actually thinking about them. -

Quote:In almost every case, when I make a new character, my first interactiosn with the market are sales. Depending upon the individual character, that remains the exlcusive commitment until at least level 12, and the majority of their interactiosn until at least 22.
Almost every character I have has made more sales than purchases at the market. Usually by a wide margin. The exceptions being my field crafters who buy 2-3 salvage and then sell the single crafted common IO.
Sellers generally like the higher prices.
BUt what about the casual level 7 Warshade that wants all his purples? Can we all just think of the warshades? What are they gonna do? -
Quote:Heck yeah...take away the sales history. Ill make bajillions. If you think its easy to capitalize on the impatient now, make that mistake and the impatient will be throwing their money at me like old chicks panties at a Tom Jones concert.I think if the bids aren't shown, then the "value" of something is placed solely on the bidder. Not the seller. You place bids on what you think it's worth, they sell at what they think it's worth. Not, hm, that person paid that so i'll list mine at that, too. History has shown us that this happens, hence the increase in everything. That's how it goes now. Show me a case where someone seen something sell and the next time they go to sell the same piece, it gets listed at the new higher amount.
See, noone here will agree because it may help lower the prices and all they care about is all they can get. 100 bil is worth no more than 100 mil if the prices continue to rise and it takes more and more to IO a toon.
The bidder sets the price now, I dont know how hard this is to grasp. I frequently list significantly below the last 5 and am suprised when someone bids less than the last 5. I am not strongarming someone to be impatient. Im not strongarming someone to not bid creep. -
Quote:You don't know me or what you're talking about. How many hours of game do you log a week? I log around 50 on average. Not work for anything? 90% of my hours are farming and pl'ing others in AE. I don't want it for 1 inf, i just hate to see people take advantage of the system due to poor drop rates. When there's only 3 recipes or 0 for sale on ANY item is ridiculous on a game that's based on making alts and playing them. When people have 3 pages per server full of alts and no way to slot them makes the system broken, imo.
You know....this is one of those times when you're completely right and wrong at the same time.
Theres always ways to slot out an alt. Its called SOs or even generic IOs. Really, it was good for a long long time...its still good now....these IO sets you decry as being unavailable are a luxury. Once you perceive them as such its really easy to wrap your head around the prices.
As to the part you are correct about, the scarcity of items at levels other than 50 is ridiculous. You can buy just about anything (even red-side) at level 50 and be okay...Ive had a wide level range of bids out for the pool c version of one of the accurate to hit debuff sets (the specific escapes me) and havent hit one in the mid 30s in near three weeks. I finally gave up and ran enough Ouro arcs to purchase it direct. What a waste of merits. But at least I had that option. -
Nope....no way to import your build from the game to Mids....
Its really just a couple dozen mouse clicks though...stop being lazy...hee
What you can do is take a screen shot of your enhancement screen, print it out and set it next to your computer and open Mids and start working...
I would recommend working in Mids and then making your build ingame match that but to each their own.... -
Quote:You'd want to try listing at 1.2 - 1.4 million in hopes that you will get a 1.5 -2 million sale. You can't list it at what you want for it due to supply being high for this IO ( IE someone else will also be selling this IO and you need to therefore list it lower than they do to get the sale). This is why trying to raise prices is the wrong thing to do and will often get you burned. You need to list lower and take a risk at not getting a sale as high as you want it in order to undercut other sellers.
Let me go even further and say....always price your crafted sells at just above where youd make a small profit (and at a number that doesnt end in zero). Let the people who buy at the last 5 number take care of giving you a profit. Youll be amazed at the disparity of what price you list at and the price people actually pay. -

Well, when a mommy Influ and a daddy Infamy really love each other, they share a special hug. Only married Influ and Infamy should share this hug, but sometimes dirty influ trollops and Infamy scoundrels do too and thats okay for them, but not for you. Anyhow, so after this special hug they wait 9 months and poof...more moola.
