The Road to 50
Find a AE mission (or create one) with bubblers. collect them on the map, and then hit start to spawn the rest of the map. Use a damage dealing class, Corruptors and Blasters are probably fastest. Since your res and def are capped by the bubblers, start killing. Kill one levels worth, hit end, collect tickets, level, restart. Takes abut 2-3 days semi-casual play. With lots and lots of coffee and motivation could probably do a 50 in 24 hours straight or less. But I drink Beer and F that.
Actually have to avoid AE.
50's - Controllers- Ill/Emp | Ill/Storm | Fire/Kin | Dark/Dark | Brutes- SS/Fire | Fire/WP | Scrappers - Spines/Fire | Kat/Regen | Elec/Shield | DM/Shield | Dominators- Plant/Psi | Tankers- Inv/Fire | Ice/NRG | Crab Spider | Warshade |
Ya know...if youre not teaming, the fastest way would most definitely be a brute (Willpower would be my choice, with some good early aoe dealer being the primary).....red side anyhow. If youre teaming, then anything really...
Now as for what to do...I would think the standard story arcs would be the quickest (as long as you picked what villain group you ran against with care.) Avoid CoT, Sky Raiders and a few others....and run against Freaks, council etc (the usual list). Id pick a few arcs I wanted to do ahead of time and ear mark those.
Regardless, judicious use of the difficulty slider (I would think increasing numbers more than the levels) and taking advantage of story arc bonuses would be best.
Thanks frogfather. Will definately look at particular story arcs. And I plan to solo mostly so Brute it is.

You can have Strike, Slash, Follow Up and Spin all by L8.
Claws is fast recharging, with easier endurance costs than most primaries allowing for good fury generation, once you get QR at 20 you'll be sailing.
Spin is a fantastic PBAoE that you can have at L6, and follow up allows for early +To Hit and +Damage boosts, which will help greatly (especially the +To Hit).
I'm sure other combos could do it, but I think this is one of the easier, faster rides to 50.
Claws/WP.
Great for End, AOE at level 6, Fast Attacks.
In fact, anything WP is awesome. My first ever Brute was SS/WP, and I'm running a WM/WP toon right now that is doing great.
Just a quick tip also that will help:
Any dual IO at level 25 gives a higher bonus than a +3 SO and never expires. Any Triple IO at level 20 or higher does even more than the 25 dual. Buy the Acc/Dam and Dam/Rech Pulverizing fisticuffs and other junk sets as soon as you can get them above 20/25. If one drops and you have a spot for it, don't sell it, craft it and use it!
While your buddy is in the middle of a mission and he levels and suddenly his accuracies all expire and he's whiffing his way through the last half of the run, your doing fine.
while he's at the store restocking his SOs, you're still gaining exp.
While he's running to the correct store that sells SOs for his origin and he stopped by the wrong one by mistake, you're still gaining exp.
As I'm fond of saying, if you're willing to slot a 53 SO when you're level 50, then dropping in a level 20 triple or 25 dual is a bigger bonus, often less money, and you never have to replace it while levelling. So waiting until 50 to do it is very silly.
And I second the vote for claws/WP. Though fire/shield is going quite well for me right now as my current levelling brute.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
I can't give any advice on Brutes specifically (my highest's only 33), but I'll share what I know about getting to 50 in general...
I'm sure you don't need me to tell you this, but you're going to level roughly three times faster on a team than solo, regardless of AT (but about 10 times faster if you try a Defender )
I've had a recent bout of altoholism and made four new toons. I've played all of them about equally, but the WS and MM I've teamed with are sitting at lvls 14 and 18, but the Blaster and MM I didn't really team with are still sitting at lvls 7 and 12 (I personally level MMs much faster than any other AT, but then again, most of my 50s are MMs)
That being said, I would suggest to you that you start in Freedom (yes yes, I know, lol Free-dumb).
Even with its plethora of noobish and ignorant player base, there are still a high number of good players (it's just more populated overall), and even with a mix of 3 good players and 5 bad ones, missions should zoom by.
I suggest you forming a team then doing your own story arcs: the entire team gets a pretty big bonus for finishing those, but as the mission owner you'll get an extra bonus for each mission, plus a bar and a half or so of xp for finishing an arc.
Also, sell your soul to one of those "Top XX SG recruiting! All base Amenities!", because it's nice to be able to craft and store while you're in Nerva
Good point! To expand on what Zeh just said, Cap au Diablo and the Rikti Warzone are the best places to find teams. The level limit to enter the warzone was lifted a while back and you can get in there at any level now. With the new super-sidekick mechanics it is a great place for fast experience.
And the stories there are plenty fun. Just watchout for Gaussian's Arc if you've never done it before. Vanguard traitors are brutal!

So me and a friend of mine are considering racing to 50. There are no real limitations and you can use any AT you want. The competition is to see who can get both a hero and villain to 50 the quickest. I'm assuming Villian side the fastest to 50 would be a brute, but I was wondering people's opinions on what would get there the fastest. I'm not too worried about heroside. I have plans for that already. Another question is which would you consider to be the fastest way to level. Only restriction is no AE. Would you think contact missions? Paper missions?
P.S. This is not about trying to blow through content or anything and just trying to get a quick 50 for the Epics. Already have several 50's both sides. Just need a little help with this competition.
