Musing here: I suggest everyone buy up Decimations, Devastations, and Apocalypses to resell for all the people leveling DP characters over double XP weekend.

I'd say any of the good ranged, targeted AoE, and PBAoE attack sets will be in high demand. I'm not going to bother trying to stockpile IOs for this one, but if I did I'd probably try to get a bunch of Thunderstrikes. We're about to get a lot of new Blasters and Thunderstrike is a very popular set for leveling a Blaster. The profit margin won't be as high as some of the more expensive sets but the demand will be huge and you can actually find Thunderstrikes in quantity.

Of course anyone with a lot of storage can make a lot just selling crafted accuracy and damage IOs... last 2xp weekend I sold hundreds of them.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)

This weekend is the weekend where Silas farms ludicrous sums of cash and puts generic IOs up for hilariously inflated prices when he remembers.

Edit: although the idea of someone purpling out a DP has me facepalming and cackling as I list a bunch of mine for sale in equal measure >.>

Honestly, I doubt I'll bother being particuarly ebil this weekend. My plan is to try and get my two level 42s to 50 although realistically I doubt I will (I enjoy playing but probably not enough to gain 8 levels on both of them)..

I wont do much marketing this weekend... its not that I dont want to... its just that I wont have very much playing time as RL duties call this weekend.

Same heroside. I've been hoarding a specific recipe that I bought for 1 million each during the last few weeks -- it already shot up to 50 million. It probably would go higher, but I'll content myself with turning 100 million influence into 4 billion.

To answer you both, what with DXP arriving and obviously more people playing; farming; etc, then the influx of players will mean more recipes selling at already inflated prices - due to previous interactions and "marketing" therefore the influx of infamy/influence will mean people will buy them at those stupid prices. This just continues like one big long train, until someone genuine tries to deflate them back to the original price which is unfortunately at times financially-breaking.

That's the basic problem, the basic marketeers selling something look at the last 5 prices and go "oo I'll be smart and add 1 to the last value", which seems to be the FoTM for marketing at the moment, well done guide makers! This means that the next chap thinks it's much dearer and add's any % of the original value on top of it, and this climbs. Back to your surprise, I noticed it slightly a week ago with the salvages, common and uncommon rose to 500,000 and above, sky-rocketing at one point.

And all is well with the world. If people cant figure out that its possible to bid cheaper than the last five, then they dont deserve to keep thier infl/inf.

People want cheaper loot? Convince everyone to stop buying. But as long as they are buying, I have no problem selling.

you also have to understand that a few other market pvpers (like me) are storing enhancements in crafted form for the sake of volume (and keeping the same immediate profit on a per market slot basis).

salvage will crash a week or two after dxp.

I'm also buying Thunderstrikes as they have pretty good set bonuses.

I prepared for this weekend by not logging in to some of my marketers for as long as 29 days.

Oh wait... that's not being prepared, is it?

Well on a couple of marketing toons I put in bids for some blaster damage sets a week or two ago. I did find out last night that one particular Devastation IO, I'm selling from four different characters at the same time. So... not really planning things out that well.

I expect I'll make good money anyway. I went through all my marketing toons last night to make sure they all had fresh inventory for sale.

So... anyone else notice that this is *not* double influence, at least for level 50s?

It's almost three times the influence on a 50.

From my chat logs...
02-19-2010 01:47:26 You have defeated Vortex Cor Leonis Sonic You gain 8,413 influence.
03-05-2010 17:04:04 You have defeated Vortex Cor Leonis Sonic You gain 26,724 influence.

02-19-2010 01:48:11 You have defeated Vortex Cor Leonis Archon You gain 66,811 influence.
03-05-2010 17:03:51 You have defeated Vortex Cor Leonis Archon You gain 193,010 influence.

02-19-2010 01:56:41 You got the Oxygen Destroyer from the Council! You gain 69,250 influence.
03-05-2010 21:49:33 You got G-Cells from the Arachnos! You gain 207,750 influence.

Seems like there may be a glut of high end salvage from people sk'ing up to more rewarding content. I may pick some up on the cheap so I can craft some common's for all the new 50's.

This is the 1st double XP in a while where...

  • DXP in the AE is broken/disabled.
  • We have I16's new difficulty settings
My guess is that the combination of those two factors means people are DXP PLing (whether it's a "formal" PL or not) in regular content missions. This is quite likely driving up a major surge in produced high-level salvage. I'm a little surprised people are bothering to list it, but I suppose if they just show up at the market stuffed full of salvage some of them are dumping it on the market just because they can.

Hahah, you fools! I've avoided all your plans by having my computer blow up before DXP and being unable to play! The joke's on you!

Yeah I expected the reverse, I planned to convert my redside AE tickets->salvage->mounds of cash.

Fortunately cheap salvage makes it easy to crank out memorized IO recipes for a small (but steady) profit, and I took the chance to grind out a couple more l50 crafting badges at a time when enhancements posted at cost sell right away and doesn't clog a slot for days.
