Quote:IYeah, not much is resistant to Lethal damage at the lower levels. It's once you start getting into the higher-level enemies that it starts to become more prevalent.
Good news: Carnies and most robots are vulnerable to Lethal damage.
HATE
CARNIES!
Glad to know ill rip them a new one with my new Tanker then. -

I dont care if you like my Sig or not, its my right to let people know how I feel about them constantly nit-picking about grammar, as if they are smarter then everyone else.If that was the case, why are they on a computer playing a video game instead of curing world hunger or cancer?
By the way, yes, I have the nerve to give someone a swift uppercut if they get in my face like many do these days.I dont think its funny to have someone trying to look cool by getting in someone elses face to cuss, spout how superior they are to that person, or threatening someones life, or simply telling them they will kick my ***.
I will kick someones *** if they offend me enough, or get in my face, no questions asked.American people wouldnt be the wusses they are now days if people acctually stood up for them selves, and yes, I am a American. -
Quote:Im debating on making a Dom, but they dont appeal to me much right now.Maybe in the future ill play one.Hehe, you don't play dominators much, huh?
But like the others have said, you'll need a plan B to deal with the AV once PToD pop up. I think the only mez that PToD doesn't resist is immobilize and sleep...but I could be wrong.
Hmm, Immobs eh?That sounds like my Fire/Rad Controller would be a good contender to solo AVs. -
Im not surprised you got this far, I think Spines/Invln would be a good combo for a Scrapper.

Im not even complaining about it either, Reds my Favorite Color. -
People still play Blasters?
LOL!
Just Kidding!
Well, I cant say that id make a Blaster with Energy/ as a Primary, or a Secondary.
Iv seen people on Blasters, and dont really find my self wanting to make one personally. All the ones I watch people on Face Plant way to many times in 1 mission to be desirable to me.
However, my recomendation would be a odd one, because it would work on the same Mob KB + Spin attack method I used for my Claws/Regen Scrapper.
Use your AoEs, KB the mob, jump in, and use Fire Sword Circle, and then Combustion from /Fire Secondary if you want to choose Energy/ Primary.Have both your Hot Feet, and Blazing Aura running as well.
I could very Easly see that Combonation doing some surprising damage and survivability.
If you wont make a Energy/Fire Blaster, I think I will. -

Quote:Sounds pretty Logical already. This would be hilarious. Super Strength is already Single-Target based anyways, a common theme among Stalker sets, and Rage would work very well with Stalkers. The only thing standing in the way would probably be that Super Strength and stealth don't immediately connect logically.
Put a Stealth IO in the Stealth power of a SS/EA Brute, and youv got a Rage induced KO blow comming out of no where! -
Ok, iv been reading up on how people strive to solo AVs and GMs, and I have a few questions about this, apperant focus people give to this issue.
First off, im on a quest to kill AVs, just for S&Gs, with a Cold/Ice Defender.
Wouldnt it be possible to run in with a Cold/Ice/Energy Build and kick the **** out of a AV?
Bitter Freeze Ray, Freeze Ray, Freeze Ray, Freeze Ray.....If the little freak aint held by now, then damn.
Is it possible to get enough Recharge, and Hold Duration to control the entire fight of a AV?If its not possible, then I guess there would be no point eh?
If it is possible, then id be more then happy to use my blasts on it, inbetween Freeze Rays, and hit him with Total Focus for extra damage.Ice Storm will be in effect while im having some hang time by the use of Focus, so no damage will be lost on the worshiped DPS Chain Scales.
How possible would a build like this be in taking out a AV?Either way, im going to try, reguardless of the answer.Im curious because I can hold Bosses like they are jokes with my Cold/Ice Defender as it is, and Freezing Ray takes a surprisingly small amount of Endurance to fire off.
Also, in the past, iv taken out a few AVs with a Fire/Fire Tanker solo before, (Silver Mantis, and the Pastron Robot in the RWZ to name a couple) so thats why I want to try something a little diffrent this time around. -
Well, I havnt played this controller, but by having a Cold/Ice Defender, I can give a little tip in game play.
The Pet you get will make a huge diffrence, and so will using Sleet as much as possible to drop damage resistance by -30%, then later on, use heatloss on mobs as often as possible along with Sleet, for a additional -30% Damage Resitance hit, making it score -60%.
I dont see this Controller having any issues Solo, or in a Team setting.
If it solo's, id Suggjest the same thing I would for a Ice/Ice/Ice Tanker.Which is up the mob # to 8.
The reason why I say up the Mob, is if your going to Solo, and you know your damage isnt great, why waste your time killing solo targets? You can just as easly get a whole bunch of Lts, and Minions, and wipe the floor with them on a solo run with it upped to 8 man capacity.
Less HP, AoE Spamming, they die at a reasonable pace.Lets not forget, that AoE means more then 1 or 2 targets at a time.If you think of it the way a person trying to max the incomming experiance from a solo run, then this will be your best bet.
Instead of wasting your time with doing 30, then 60 damage on 1 Target for 2 moves, you can spam out 2 AoE attacks, and hit a total of 16 targets for 10, then 20 each hit after that.Get where im going? The damage is no dout smaller, but you end up killing more then if you where concentrating on a single target at a time.
Not to mention your Jack Frost will speed things along as well, and so will Sleet, and Heat Loss.
I usually find it a bit odd when someone says something cant solo well, because most times, they are compairing it to the fastest soloer in the first place. -
Quote:My Fire/Fire Tanker with SOs kills twice as fast compaired to most other Tanker sets, and im using Fire Armor.Same goes for my Elec/Elec.Adding defense alone to any build is extremely beneficial. You really do not know what your talking about until you have taken a known squishy and turned it into a monster. I used to have my sonic/storm slotted up for maximum recharge, to get her fr, nado, and ls up as much as possible. I was able to have multiple of each out for full duration all the time. It was reaally cool, but as far as effectivness goes it was pretty pointless. I dropped all those rech sets, grabbed up softcapped range defense, and settled for a modest 44% global rech from bonus's. Now, I can have my fr, nado, and ls multiples out still, just not for the whole durations, but I kill twice as fast and dont die unless **** really hits the fan.
Do these count as a *Known Squishy*?
Hell, half of my Defenders that are still using SOs can out kill a Sonic/Storm with 44% Defense.
Gotta come up with better examples then that. -
Quote:Well, personally having one, ill be happy to tell you.I am curious to why a Cold/Ice defender does the most damage while having good survivability? Sounds interesting.
Have you ever seen a Storm Defender or Controller? When you see them using Freezing Rain, ever notice how the mob flops around and cant take action for that 15 seconds?
Sleet in the Cold Primary of a Defender is nearly the exact same power, but the KD is exaclty like Freezing Rain.It also drops 30% to the mobs damage resistance.
Then theres Heat Loss, which also drops another 30% damage resistance to the mob, making the total now -60% to all damage types, and leaving the mob severly slowed from these 2 hits.
Now before Sleet is done tripping the mob, you have enough time to trigger Ice Storm, and then Blizzard.
Blizzard also does knock down, just like Freezing Rain, and Sleet. So they arnt going anywhere, and they die to quickly for it to be a issue anyhow.
Ice Storm has a 117 damage base, and Blizzard has a 500 damage base.Add in Aim for a 50% modifier to these, and you get 182 damage base for Ice Storm, and 750 base damage for Blizzard.
Now add in your 3 damage SOs for both of these powers, they now shoot upto 299 damage for for Ice Storm, and 1,250 damage for Blizzard.
Im still not done yet.....
Now take down the damage reistance of the mob by that -60%......ouch....
Does this answer your question? -
Quote:You know, I have to point this out to you.Your post made my brain hurt. A fully-slotted SL heals around 40 hp/second within the MG>Smite>SL>Smite chain, which is the top ST DPS attack chain for DM/ and is one of the highest ST DPS possible for a Scrapper when SD is taken into account. Right now, DM/Shield is sitting at the top of the Scrapper DPS chart for Pylon runs at 289 dps.
As far as pairing DM/ with a Def-based secondary, SL's self-heal plus a soft-capped Defense and 95% DDR is as good as it gets for survival without impacting your DPS with Aid Self when the rare hit does get through your Defense.
You remind me of a old friend named Walt Maki, and even the face on your Avatar looks like him.
Your also as number crazy as he is, which doesnt count for much until you put tactics behind your game play. -

Quote:What are some good tank builds for just running up and down the Cim wall?
Edit: Really I should just ask what's a good build for killing/tanking groups of Cim's in general that range from +0 to +2, you get the idea.
I have no problems on my Tankers, and I run with Elec/Elec, and Fire/Fire most of the time.I hope my SD/Axe build im working on will do the trick too. -
Trollaster?Hmmm, I think I have one of those.
Its called a Defender.
I have a Cold/Ice Defender, and it Trumps a Ice/Ice Blaster.Look into it. -
Well, he did run out of Endurance fairly quick, and im very aware that Tanker damage wasnt bad either way, but I was just surprised to see a Lethal Damage set doing any damage. That may change at later levels, and if it does, ill just go back to my Fire/Fire, or Elec/Elec Tanker, and be happy either way.
Yes, I was running the shield damage buff. -
I just went and re-made my Axe/SD brute into a SD/Axe Tanker, because I dont like having to chase down a Fury Bar, or a Blue Endurance bar either. After 24 levels of that on a Brute, I got tired of it.
I guess im a stickler for being able to have constant, none random-ish damage on my Builds.Consistancy is key, as many say.
I have some questions reguarding Tankers, even though I have a couple, I dont tend to team with them, because everyone hates a resistance Tank.(Those people can take a flying leap!)
Iv always thought a Tankers damage was pretty solid, and im curious about something, I teamed with my new SD/Axe Tanker last night when I remade him, with a DB/Dark Scrapper.
His attacks recharged about as fast as mine, and I hit harder then he did with my Axe.I did take into account that his Dual Blades do DoT, but its not hard to watch 2-3 numbers come up and be able to add them rather quickly.
Iv also watched a Mace/WP Tanker hit a few things, even at lower levels, he did good damage like my Axe did, and still did more damage then my Scrapper Companion. When the Scrapper Crit, he would out damage us, but those where few and far between for the most part.
So I guess what im leading upto, is, Did they up Tanker Damage recently?Or did they upgrade the Axe and Mace sets for Tankers?
I seem to be doing rather decent, and tollerable damage with Axe.
Im making this character out of a Technological Theme, and im still going to quest for a Ritki Axe.
I dinged level 20 before I logged off last night on this Tanker, which is Typical when I play Tankers of any type.I level them fast.
The lack of a AoE, and Resistance Scale does urk me a bit, and this Tanker feels a little more solid then a Brute, but still feels very Fragile as well.
Iv noticed while playing my brute version, that Endurance was a issue, and it still is on the Tank as well, but Energy will easly fit into my Theme, and Energy Disscount will help alot im sure.
So does anyone know if Tankers got a recent upgrade?I havent been paying much attention because im busy building functional, themed Defenders as of late. -
I thank everyone that suggjessted a Fire and Ice combonation build, but that wasnt the question I was asking, and wont be making a Tank like that.
I asked for information on the play-style of a Ice/Ice/Ice, and those of you that gave me that information, I thank you very much. -
Quote:Theres a few key things to remember about Fire/Kins.Just curious. I remember on youtube watching a video about a team of fire/rads and was just curious since i not too familiar with controllers. Would a fire/rad be as good at farming as fire/kins? If not, what separates the two?
Thanks
1) Not everyone can farm with one, it simply doesnt fit everyones playing style.
2) This Controller is rather fragile compaired to other controllers, and can only Solo certain missions and use them as farms.
3) Unless you have someone PLing you up, your more then likly going to hate this combonation, because it takes a long time to get any power. Not to mention its a Stamina Hog for a long time as well.
While these are commonly seen as issues with Fire/Kins, I can tell you from experiance, that Fulcrum Shift is the diffrent between the 2, as well as Fire/Rad having tons more survivability for a small lacking of damage, and slower movement speed.(Same Recharge buffer though)
Personally having a Fire/Rad allows me to tell you this from Experiance. If you wanted a solid, farmable Controller, and not want to worry about a single slip up face planting you like it can a Fire/Kin, thne this would be the controller for you.
Another perk, is that so far, I havnt been unable to solo anything yet.Where as a Fire/Kin has to be selective, or they are Epic Fails.
With AE in full swing for farms, im rather surprised to see people making Fire/Kins at all.Considering that you can farm with a massive list of things due to AE now days. -
Quote:Well, even on those terms, it would still be nice to have a Ice Tanker in the pile with my others....I think he meant in terms of a tank. I didn't see him claiming he'd outdamage a Blaster.
Fire Minded, I dunno, ice is usually lower on damage and higher on control throughout the ATs. I would think ice/ice/ice could be decent, but it wouldn't outdo something like shields/fire/pyre, either. Keep in mind that Ice Storm has a base recharge of 120 seconds, so that wouldn't be up every fight, either.
Im a little freak about my builds.I wont re-use a power set that im already playing, even if it drags over to another AT, I make it a point to avoid it.
Pretty much why im extreemly selective, but thats another issue and post in its self.
I just want Variety, not the same ol same ol every time I loggin. If I dont feel like burning it up with my Fire Tank, I could always chill with my Ice Tank.
Makes me curious how far up the scale I could push the difficulty for this Tanker. -
-
Quote:Looks like a huge Granite Golem torpedoing its self head first into a mob if you ask me!LOL!Well, at least now you know the reason.
You might not agree with it and might think it looks awesome.
Just remember, there are players on test that still have access claws/stone brutes because they made them before the limit was placed.
Lucky. -
Wouldnt a Ice/Ice/Ice Epic Tanker be rather good and damaging?
Iv been estatic, and geekin out all over the place about a Cold/Ice Defender, and iv just ran my greasy mitts over this chain of thinking.
Wouldnt Frost, Icicles, Frozen Aura, and Ice Storm with BU be a good amount of Damage?
Its not like the mob would go any where because of Chilling Embrace. Its a curious thought.
Anyone have a Triple Icer? -
Quote:Make a Cold/Ice Defender or Corruptor.Hi,
I'm looking to make a farmer to help farm +4 x8s in AE with my Elec/SD scrapper, Fire/Kin, or my SS/SD brute (I'll be switching between them). As the title says, it'll be used with only single origin enhancements, so I'm looking for something that performs really well without being depending on IOs. I don't want to make another one of the farmers I already have.
I'm looking for the highest damage because defense is not an issue with the AE mission I'll be running (plenty of allies to get defenses and resistances high).
Thanks in advance.
Cold allows you to gather up a couple mobs, maybe more if your allies are helpful enough, and drop the total damage resistance by -60% for most of them, and you trigger off your rain attacks, youv just wiped alot of baddies.
Not alot stands upto 700 - 1100 AoE Damage, even at +4 (More damage if its a Corr), and if you nail 8 baddies with Heat Loss, youv negated the -Recovery from Blizzard, 9 and your sitting pretty.Which would be easy to do if your Allies assist you with herding.
Or make a Fire/Fire Blaster, or a Storm/Fire Corr, or a Fire/Rad Controller, or a Fire/Earth Dom.The list is huge if you have Allies.
