Quote:Wow, that has absolutely NOT been my experience lately. A few weeks, a month ago common salvage spiked pretty dramatically, but recently other than the pieces that are always more expensive (Luck Charms, Alchemical Silver) most common and uncommon salvage has been dead cheap.1. Virtually any piece of lvl 25-40 common salvage. On any given day the prices range from 5-125K.
I buy to craft IOs on my main, and can nearly always get stacks of 10 commons at my standard 1001 inf each. -
Quote:You can use incarnate components to create alpha enhancements; scroll down in the "create" box to see the recipe.I wish there was a way to make shards from something from the itrials.
However, since incarnate commons take 20 threads each to create and you can create alpha components with only 3 shards apiece, IMO it's not a very attractive alternative unless you do a lot of trials. There's no mixing and matching of alpha and incarnate components, you have to use all shards or all threads. -
Quote:There's an option to convert Shards to Threads in the "Convert" menu--I believe it is 4 Shards for 1 Thread.Wait we can convert threads to shards or shards to threads, how do we do this?
However, as far as I know, there's no way to convert Threads to Shards. Believe me, I wish there were, it would make getting that last shard you need a lot easier. -
Quote:Dark Armor has a Stun aura and a Fear aura. IIRC, the Fear aura also has a To-Hit Debuff.ok ill reask the question does Dark Armor have any secondary effects? that clarion will boost?
I don't know whether Clarion will affect any of those, however, since I haven't looked at it in any detail. Perhaps someone else can answer that. -
Does anyone know offhand if a Rogue or Vigilante of the appropriate level can start the Eden trial?
I'm guessing 'no', but I have a mid-30's Rogue that I'm considering bringing over, and I was wondering how far to the hero side she'd have to be to start the trial. -
Hmm, with Blazing Aura underslotted for end reduction and five (!) attacks slotted with Obliteration, I really don't see how the endurance situation in the second build is going to be significantly better.
Here's the sort of thing I'd do with this build. Global recharge is lower with only 2 Oblit sets instead of 5, but E/NE defense is over 30%. It's not ideal; I'd prefer to have another slot each for Beheader and Build-up, but endurance use is going to be much better than on the other builds.

Stamina is better slotted in new build, but there are a number of other things I'd recommend changing.
For instance, all the tanker T1 attacks are worth using now because of Bruising, so I'd give Shadow Punch 4 slots--5 preferably.
Wet Ice and Chilling Embrace don't need two slots for end reduction. Drop it down to one and use those slots elsewhere.
I'd slot either Icicles or Soul Drain with 3 Eradication plus another couple of slots for end reduction--that's a more efficient way to get E/NE than the 6 slots in Gloom. You should be able to soft-cap S/L/E/NE without using Energy Absorption, but to do that you're going to have to use your slots more efficiently.
EA needs recharge and end mod as well as defense. I recommend slotting it with 3 defense slots and 3 end mod slots, heavy on the recharge.
The recharge slot in Hibernate isn't doing anything for you; Hibernate has an enforced cooldown period that overrides recharge slotting. Use a Heal or End Mod enhancement instead.
Here's the sort of thing I'd recommend. Defense to S/L/E/NE is soft-capped without EA at the sacrifice of a little F/C defense, which IMO is a worthwhile tradeoff. I also moved Permafrost to 49 so you could get Tough and Weave in earlier. Another option (though you'll have to free up 3 slots to do it) is to drop Permafrost entirely, put the Steadfast +Def in Hoarfrost, and pick up Hasten.

Quote:That's not correct. Slotting a "proc 120" like the Perf Shifter +End in a passive powers means that the player will continuously get the benefit from it. The Recharge and Recovery uniques are the same. The proc really only fires off every 10 seconds in any passive power so it will not benefit you much. Consider at least 3 slotting stamina with endurance modification
However, I do agree that Stamina should be more heavily slotted--I usually go with the Perf Shifter +End and two End Mod commons, or one common, one PS end mod, and the PS +End. -
Quote:I agree, so why don't you try specing out a build in Mid's and then post it to the appropriate AT forum? As a rule people are very willing to help with builds, and the AT forum will have the greatest concentration of experts for whatever powersets you're intererested in.Thanks again for all the great responses. It's helping to really clear things up.
I think it will also help to get off the sidelines and being willing to make a mistake or two. You can only connect so much from forum reading wit out actually working things in game and getting the experience of learning by doing. -
I agree with the others...you really need to pick up either Punch or Haymaker, and New Dawn's suggestion of dropping Melt Armor is a good one. Another option is to get Air Sup instead of Hover. I'm not sure whether you had it in mind, but Hover-tanking is not a good strategy for SS since you have to be on the ground to use Foot Stomp.
Slotting issues:
Drop the Impervious Skin stat resistance IO. You don't need it and you can use the slot elsewhere.
The attacks you have slotted with Kinetic Combat need another slot to be sufficiently slotted with accuracy and damage. I like the Mako's Acc/Dam/End/Rchg, but any high-level IO with accuracy and damage will do.
Slotting some resistance in HPT is fine, but primarily it needs heal slotting for the HP boost. At the very least throw a couple of common heal IOs in there.
RttC needs Heal slotting, not To Hit Debuff. I'd 4-slot it with a heal set and add a Taunt Duration IO.
Fly is way overslotted; the tiny typed def bonus in BotZ is not worth slotting IMO. Just the Winter's Gift IO should be fine.
The Gaussian's set in Rage is an okay pick if you've got slots to spare, but I wouldn't recommend it in your case. I'd use two Rectified Reticle and two recharge commons instead.
I'd recommend 3-4 Eradication in Foot Stomp plus a couple of other IOs for end reduction. The Force Feedback +Recharge would be a good choice too.
I'd drop Melt Armor completely, but at the very least drop it back to 3-4 slots at most. Thunder Strike and Basilisk's Gaze are good choice for Char and Fire Blast.
Here's what I would do with your build. It's a little over on E/NE def, and a shade under soft-capped for S/L, but on the whole I think you'd find this much more survivable.

Thanks everyone! I think I really knew that Cardiac was the better choice for her, but you all helped me feel better about the choice.

Why no Energy Transfer? Sure, it's slower than it was, but if you're going to skip one of the slow EM attacks, I'd keep the more damaging one.
If you want defense, it's quite possible to cap S/L/E/NE defense with 1 enemy in range of Invinc without bothering with Maneuvers. As it is, both Weave and Maneuvers are underslotted for end reduction. Also, the fifth RA slot in TI, UY and especially in ResEn are just wasting slots. You should also look to slotting sets like Smashing Haymaker, Kinetic Combat, and Eradication for more S/L/E/NE defense.
Here's my Invul/EM, which is capped to S/L/E/NE and at 40% F/C defense. Recharge is lower than yours, but that's easily fixable by using LotG sets with the +Recharge rather than GotA. You can also replace the Pyre attacks with Energy Mastery, though you'll lose some potential for E/NE def that way.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know about the debuff resistance, that sounds interesting as well.
-
I finally have enough shards to alpha my Dark/Mace tank, and now I have to decide which one to get.
I had originally planned to get Spiritual for the recharge bonus, but even though I have Physical Perfection on the character, sometimes her end bar dips to the half-way point when I'm soloing. With Cardiac I'd get a bit of a resistance bonus too.
I seem to recall there's a Destiny option (Ageless?) that has recharge...has anyone looked at that to see how effective it is? I'm wondering whether going with Cardiac and then picking up my recharge bonus in the Destiny slot might be a viable alternative.
Any experience, advice, etc., would be appreciated! -
Quote:Defeating two named Fortunatas is the next step you have to complete after defeating Arbiter Kim. It took me a while to find them too, since they're way up by Recluse's tower.I'm just the opposite. I remember (misremember?) being told to defeat the Fortunata.
I think the Mission Text above the map window mentions it after defeating whathisname. I remember because I searched for a long time for a named Fortunata.
I don't think the enemy you have to defeat with the Arbiter is necessarily a Fortunata, it's whatever gets spawned with him. -
Quote:Funny you should mention that, because in both the case of OGS and the other level 50 morality mish I think the concepts are good (I love the cheering crowds in OGS) but the execution leaves something to be desired.I do not like the new morality or alignment missions. They have too many bugs and poorly-organized objectives. I usually farm more bosses in Terra Volta until I get the tips I want.
The mission where you meet your double is easy--too easy really--but also confusing in the way it ends so abruptly. Silent Blade just decides on the basis of your very short conversation with your double that you are the good guy and your double is the villain. Always leaves me scratching my head and thinking, "that's it?"
In the case of OGS, just including "Arbiter and guards" in the instructions and/or making sure the rest of spawn is close to the Arbiter would help tremendously. -
Quote:I think the chances that a player has their attacks slotted to the ED cut-off for recharge are far, far lower than having them slotted to the ED cut-off for damage. But what if you're fully slotted for recharge? That is, you have a functional attack chain?
Whether the OP already has a good attack chain or would like a little more recharge is a judgement call on his part. But it's worth noting that recharge will benefit other powers as well. For Invul, Dull Pain comes to mind.
But hey, if you think Musculature is a good pick, you're welcome to argue that. -
Knockdown is just a lesser degree of Knockback; as far as I know, the attacks have always called it knockback.
Have you been fighting lower level enemies? The one thing (besides slotting for KB) that will change KD to KB is fighting -1 or below enemies. -
Glad to help.
The one thing on this latest build I would strongly encourage you to change is that BA is still underslotted for end reduction. If you want to include a proc in it, replace the Eradication Damage with an Eradication Chance for Energy Damage, and drop the Scirocco's Chance for Lethal Damage for a high-level Acc/Dam/End.
I know you said that you haven't had endurance problems, but if your current build has significantly less recharge than this one, you may find yourself having problems that you didn't before. -
Musculature is not going to help much if your attacks are fully slotted for damage. I'd say Cardiac if you have any endurance issues, or Spiritual if you don't.

You've got an unfortunate mix of sets, some of which have primarily typed defense bonuses and some with primarily positional, which is a very inefficient use of slots. You should go for one or the other, and I'd recommend S/L defense, since if you're trying improve one set of types/position it will give you the widest coverage of attacks.
So, specifically:
Ditch the Titanium Coating sets; you get the same S/L def, plus E/NE def with Reactive Armor in 4 slots instead of 6. Use the slotting you have in Tough, except replace the End/Rchg with a RA Resistance.
The Kinetic Combat sets need accuracy as well as damage, which the current 5th slot is not giving you in Haymaker. I prefer the Mako's Acc/Dam/End/Rchg, but any IO that has both accuracy and damage will do.
I'd keep the Stealth proc, but slot it in Sprint or a vet sprint instead. That'll save you a slot and allow you to use it more discriminately.
Try to round up 6 slots for Taunt and put in a full set of Mocking Beratement or Perfect Zinger.
The Aegis Psi/status resistance is next to useless since you have no other Psi resistance. Drop it and slot a Steadfast Protection KB IO instead, in Tough or one of the FA resist toggles.
6-slotting Obliteration is a poor choice for typed defense, and VERY poor choice for Blazing Aura, since it has very little end reduction.
Stealth is a decent option, but keep in mind that 1/2 its defense suppresses in combat so you're not getting as much out of it as Mid's might lead you to believe. You might want to consider getting Maneuvers instead; it gives slightly less defense than the unsuppressed portion of Stealth (fully slotted 3.5% vs 3.9%) but at least Maneuvers helps your teammates too. Whichever one you choose, be sure to slot them sufficiently for end reduction, since they're both relatively high-end toggles.
Weave is underslotted for end reduction, I'd add a slot for the LotG Def/End/Rchg.
Fiery Embrace is a good power now, I'd take it as soon as it's available.
Instead of the Oblit sets, I'd recommend a combination of 3-4 Eradication plus another couple of slots for end reduction in both BA and Foot Stomp. Note that BA should have at least 60% end reduction. You also might want to consider putting a Force Feedback +Recharge proc in Foot Stomp.
Char and Fire Blast are ideal for improving your E/NE defense with just a few slots; put two Basilisk's Gaze in Char and 3 Thunder Strike in Fire Blast.
Here's your build with the changes I recommended; both S/L and E/NE are at 32%, and recovery and regen are somewhat better.

This happened last night, and since it was in a level 50 hero morality mission which has been done many thousands of times before, I was curious whether anyone else has had this problem.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, the mission is to rescue a rogue Bane Spider from Grandville. It's basically an escort mission, but there's a specific series of steps you have to go through to free the Bane Spider, and he doesn't even spawn unless you complete the first two.
My problem was with the second step, defeating a named Arbiter by the entrance to the Grandville courtyard. I defeated the Arbiter but it did not acknowledge that I had done so, and the mission didn't advance and the Bane Spider and captors didn't spawn. I've done the mission before successfully so I knew it was the right guy; he had a name and dialogue specific to the situation.
After resetting the mission twice and getting the same result, I sent in a "Stuck" petition. The GM came within 15 minutes, (huzzah!) and after a bit of conversation about the problem, he transported me to a random Fortunata and told me to defeat her. Now, previously I don't remember having to defeat anyone but the Arbiter, but sure enough, it worked and I was able to complete the mission successfully.
So, has anyone run into this problem before? The Fortunata was quite a ways away from the Arbiter and on the other side of a barrier so she wasn't even aggroed by fight with the Arbiter. Was she part of his spawn or was something weird going on? -
My guess is that the OP would like the benefit of something other than recharge in their Alpha. That's my situation; I have a Dark tank that could use more end reduction but would like the recharge bonus too.
-
Keep in mind that it's more efficient to build for positional defense OR typed defense, but not both, though you will automatically get some of the other kind.
Personally, I prefer typed defense, but if you want to go the positional defense route, stay away from primarily typed defense sets like Kinetic Combat and Smashing Haymaker. The bang-for-buck for those sets just isn't there compared to Mako's, ToD or Scirocco's Dervish. -
Quote:Yes, I was just about to point out the same thing regarding Barrage--you really do want to slot it up and use it. Personally, I'd slot Total Focus in case I'm in a situation where I want to use it, but your call.I did not know that, but that is awesome to note. I'm a little confused as to what the damage output for Energy Transfer is. I look it up in CoH and it says it's about 370 or so, but is that including the special damage that goes against you? How much damage is the enemy taking exactly?
As for Energy Transfer, the damage to self scales with level, but it's always 167 HP at level 50. Enhancements and damage buffs do not affect it. (thank goodness!)
At level 50, ET's damage to the target is 203 HP, about 2/3 of which is Energy damage, and the other 1/3 Smashing. That is before enhancements and buffs, which of course do affect the total damage to the target. PvP damage is slightly higher, FWIW.
