Just because they aren't the fotm anymore doesn't mean they are crap >_>
As everyone says Fire/em is still deadly, pick a toon and learn them like the back of your hand.
I know an Ice/Rad corrupter which will pwn most people, it's not a fotm but he has been pvping with it for 2 to 3 years now. -
Part of the Avant-Guard's Anniversary weekend is a PvP Tournament. If you are unsure of what anniversary I am talking about read HERE first.
The tournament will be taking place this Friday the 14th and will commence at 9:00pm EST.
Teams will be randomly selected, so if you have never done any PvP before you could get lucky and end up on a skilled team and get a free ride to the finals.
Once your team has been chosen, you will stay in that team until the tournament ends. The purpose to this is so you can prepare strategies and learn to adapt to your teammates strengths and weaknesses.
I will have fill-ins ready to join teams who could not make up 5 players, but to be safe I would make sure you are there on time and guarantee yourself a spot on a team.
The prize for the winning team will be 100mil to each winning member.
Due to the size of the teams, it will be difficult unless there is a big turnout to have preliminary rounds and finals. So there will be one round where no one will get knocked out so you have time to learn to play as a team, so you it wisely as it does not matter if you win or lose. After that it will jump straight into an elimination.
If the turnout is big enough however, there will be numerous rounds where you gather points for a win or a draw and the top 4 teams will then enter an elimination round. This would require a large turnout however.

I have to bump this... It's coming up very fast now! Everyone tell your friends =D
Today or tomorrow I will have information on the PvP Tournament that will be Friday night. It's going to be a 5v5 random teams, so even if you have never tried PvP before, you could be paired up with some of the best and get a chance at the prize. Each person in the winning team will be taking home 100mil. -
I am fond of the Earth/Therms and Ice/Storms. An Earth/Therm with Stone Mastery actually can deal pretty decent damage. I've even taken a few psy/ems on him, granted they weren't the best. But it eats most toons 1v1.
-
Barely any, I once had the same idea and had 2 dmg/range hamis... with boost range on I got like an extra 5yrds
-
I don't have a build to give you, but I have to say to the above statement that they definately still play alright in pvp. TK is major hax... that plus 70%dmg buff from am/sets/assault and a self heal = awesum sauce. Stick the debuffs on aswell and while they can still be knocked off, they are still pretty decent. They do take a bit of experience to play right though. My friend is running one at the moment, and he also managed to get 1570hp on it plus the above I mentioned makes it very deadly.
-
The abovementioned kb attacks would still slice through that, Powerthrust, levitate etc... I think heroes have to worry more about being kb'd than villains however. The only kb you are bound to come across often is powerthrust; and if you're quick you can avoid that most of the time.
-
its lacking compared to other blaster types, it still performs well... just not as OP'd as a psy/em
-
Woooo, AGBY5 ftw!
I can definitely say there will be some awesome prices for these events, very much worth attending =D
+++ -
Get psychic mastery - Telekinesis, it rox on fenders still
Rad can still work well, Ice is a bit behind the times though... I would say get some decent sets to make this good, as most toons you verse in zones will have them too. With the right play style though this can perform well. Most people don't like to hear this, but part of entering the pvp community is getting your rear end handed to you... But trust me, give it a month or two and you will be one of the crowd picking on teh newbies =)
Just stick with it and practice practice practice. Remember, you learn more from losing than you do from winning. -

Arena:sol.2 = Races. What if you could climb inside a Longbow Chaser, or Arachnos Flyer, choose the color of the vehicle, and challenge your friends to a race? How about a race around the streets of St. Martial? Or navigate youÂ’re way through the FaultinesÂ’ treacherous, uh, fault lines? Or maneuver your way through the passages of Steel Canyon? The maps are there for the racing!

I want to use them in Zonesooh and be able to "jump" into a heavy unit and actually control it

I don't think either primaries would use that attack chain... you will get much closer to matching psy if you just use shriek/scream/shriek/scream and finish off with the shout... To any perspective sonic blasters I can only say this... holds procs in both shriek and scream... and get your recharge to the point where you can fight a whole fight just using shriek/scream and having shout as an awesome finisher move. Do that and shout can take out half the hitpoints of a lot of toons.
Although this is a way to get close to Psy's damage, it isn't enough to overpower a Psy blaster... perhaps if you both had 2500hp and versed each other. That and the oh so broken placate proc and its Psy Blaster ftw.
I've played them both, and I train with a Psy Blaster... We don't sit there taking in turns hitting each other to find out who does more dps -

What I don't understand is if all we are doing is creating another "LBX" won't it just fill up immediately by everyone migrating over to it?
Should ideas about splitting LBX into two "sub-chats" be considered or is it just assumed that everyone will just join both of those and we would still have the maximum density problem?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the idea is to move all the active players and leave behind everyone who has since left the game or don't even take notice of the channel but are still counted as belonging to it.
Plenty of dead bodies floating in the channel you could say... -

In my opinion, Fire should still be the damage king. I mean srsly--it's second affect is DAMAGE. That usually means it should do the most damage. That's what is weird to me.
Psy can still have it's damage, and it's range, but fire should be the lead in damage.
Just my opinion, and I wanted to rant that. Sorry =p

Sonic is the damage king overall, the -res in the attacks are deadly once stacked. The only downside to it is loooonng animation on its heavy hitter... But you will definately see the difference between just using Shout, and spending the extra 4 seconds doing Shriek/Scream/Shriek/Shout.
I've played pvp with Sonic/Fire/Archery/Psi in all the issues mentioned here, Macskull has it pretty much spot on with the order. Just keep in mind that the difference between them all is very slim, they all kickass and more often or not its the skill of the player which wins in a blaster vs blaster fight between those primaries.

wuts the best secondary for a psi pvp blaster?
[/ QUOTE ]
Still a topic of debate, people say EM, MM or Devs... I've tried them all, EM will get you the most kills, the other two might prove better in some circumstances... But EM will top those in 90% of the fights you have.
EDIT* Whilst Sonic has the potential to be the most damaging, it does take a bit to powerup, all depends on what your versing as to how effective it can be -

Kranik do you know how to add the pvp enhancements?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hehe, I'm doing that now... this editing thing is awesome! I have just made the icons for them >_> -
Awesome!! Thanks heaps much for posting this. One thing though, will the numbers be the same if you copy over the corrupter radiation powers instead? They have the correct levels already so it would be one less thing to edit, although it's no big deal spending the extra 20 seconds doing it
-
I will come if I can make the time and date
-
all my encounters with cold defenders have been good, they only lack the ability to survive before getting all their debuffs off sometimes... with a trollers hold it will make it much easier i guess.
-
Can anyone explain why all the enhancements I had for sale at WW which was about 800mil worth, have all dissapeared!?!?
-
Yeah, check below it though

good to see they keep on top of things -
This year I have been working with my supergroup the - Avant-Guards / Blackguards - creating a video to help promote PvP amoungst our members. The idea was to give it a storyline to make it more interesting to the roleplayers in the group.
I had originally planned for the video to be 3-4minutes long, but I guess I got carried away.
The video contains some voice acting from our leader ICE-Daddy. We also had around 24 sg members total show up to film footage in game with fraps... Demo record is too over my head at the moment
Anyway I would love some feedback on it, anything I could perhaps work on for my future projects.
You can watch it at youtube Here
Or you can download the video Here for better quality. -
I have to hurry up and fix my computer so I can join in. It's good to see you've taken up the job of organising some events gunnr

Quick question:
To try to get recipes in arena pvp, does the match have to be rated?
I've tried a few unrated matches and got nothing, but the drop rate is so low anyway, that I wasn't sure.
[/ QUOTE ]
nope, it doesn't need to be rated
