TA corrupters will be fun in zones.. therm and colds are fun, rad can be good if played right... Dark has a pretty huge heal, I prefer those for arena though... don't know how they roll in zone... Fire/sonic are good primaries, elec goes well with therm... rad primary rolls well too, any combo of those will perform well, however if its 2v2 I would say a therm would be the most useful... On mine I have cauterize which saves my usual teammate whos a cold pretty often, also forge is a nice buff... I also took venge and rez which I actually use often in a zone. The debuffs are sweet too. I've tried them all except pain dom however, so I can't really comment on that...

I was actually thinking arena... but theres an average zone skirmish time? >_<... on our server it's pvp until your dead, or everyone else is... usually takes a bit longer than 10 seconds

Fire and regen are awesome, regen more survivability with all its "oh crap" powers... fire with a fast recharging heal and more damage with essentially another build up.

Quote:prwnedCowards? So you really feel brave? Sitting in your room...hitting W, A, S, D...clicking a mouse so your Superhero or Villain Avatar can hopefully get a lucky roll on a Random Number Generator, that supposed to simulate a 100 sided dice, and potentially defeat some other person's avatar. Just so they can click the mouse, respawn and do it all over again. WHATTA TOUGHIE!!! SOOO BRAVE!!!!
Really? Wow...that's sad and pathetic. In online gaming there are no cowards and there are no tough guys. There are winners and losers. It doesn't matter how you play the game. -
Quote:Pain MMs have a harder time keeping up with the team than a Pain corrupter, works fine though if you camp somewhere and let it be a healing base for vills to run to.Is there any reason to take a Pain corrupter over a Pain MM? Seems like the MM would have a lot more survivability with BG mode, and if I read correctly it seems like single target spike is prevalent so extra healing isn't going to help.
Quote:Looks like I'll need to find a couple of those. Are there PVP tanks that can survive a triple AS? I don't want to go too heavy on the Stalker side, because they're not very useful in PVE and I'd like to keep some balance in the VG composition.
Quote:What? Doms deal damage? My 50 Mind/Psi solos for crap slotted with damage in her entire secondary. I guess I must be doing it wrong, maybe I can pick a couple up in zone.
Quote:I'm mainly interested in controlling, confusing, and demoralizing the enemy team. I expect that in order to get a team going I'll actually have to take a support role - the role noone ever wants to play. Same as in Guild Wars, really - I was a great Mesmer, but always ended up playing Monk. I have a couple Thermals I could adapt for PVP play - am I correct in assuming that I'm better off with Ice/Thermal than Sonic/Thermal for PVP? -
A good blaster you mean >_<, if anything else can manage to pull off a kill in that time then they must be versing some of the worst villains ive seen

Quote:I think they're talking about darkmiasma/rad blaster fendersSounds like you fought Snax while he throws his black marshmellows of death.
To be fair he is a pretty good player so not everyone will be as L33T on darkblast, although he is also sporting a good DB/Storm corrupt.
Overall darkblast/rad has always been very underrated (as is darkblast in general).
The biggest question is do you take torrent. -
Therm would go better solo, and decent in teams... It depends whether you want to focus on actually fighting or buffing and healing... for that I would go the pain, nothing like bringing an allies health to full when they are 1 shot from death >_>... But yeah I would go Rad/therm or Fire/therm (don't know if your set on the Rad)... Or a Rad/Cold = pwn defence toons, mine eats through elude and mog, altho rad anything would probably manage that.
-
PvP isn't dead, just less fun >_<
Still just as many people to beat up though -
Yep, dark is awesome but has no -def.. so I would not go psy, sonic can be decent... I have killed a few def based toons with it... radiation blast can be decent... Proc the crap out of it, and the -def in the attacks makes up for no -def in its debuffs... With the big heal you don't really need greens in arena, so if you wanna be uber then take some purps... -tohit and purps = l33t, or reds... I've also taken telekenisis on my sonic and for defnders it still has the repel effect... and I use shout as my big hitter instead of TF, against a lot of corrupters I can TK and nearly kill them before they can do anything.

Quote:once u hit lvl 40, u will only get 2 to 3 lvls per run. Really you are looking at about 6 runs on a mito farm 8 spawned, 30min each on ruin2. the mitos give near lvl 52boss equivMy fire/kin can blast through level 50 maniac slammers. Add a high damage tank or scrapper into the mix, and they are falling over like dominos. Now throw a level 45 toon into that who is sitting at the door, and a map padded and spawned for a team of 8 on City 02 ruined, yeah I can see someone getting to level 50 in 2, maybe 3 runs and quite quickly.
-
It depends on how they saw they were lvl 1, if you click on them and look at the target window, it will show the clvl and therefore would have shown lvl 50 to whoever has the toon targeted. For searches and in player info it would have shown up as lvl1

Quote:Sorta, we could be here forever splitting the groups, by the term gamers I take from games such as COD, CO etc all games based around bettering your skills more so than exploring the content. PvPers don't just attempt to squeeze out an extra .6% as you mention, most of them "know their enemies" and will know a toon inside and out without having to have one. You don't often have to do that in PvE.You may be thinking of a sublcass of folk you didn't mention, the "casual gamer", rather than the role player. I have better things to do with myself than attempting to squeeze out an extra .6% with careful and considered IO slotting and endless accolade chasing (which is one reason why I don't bother with PvP - others do have that time and interest), and yet I do not role play.
I would say the PvP people you describe are "hardcore gamers". -
Quote:+10 RespectWhile this may sometimes be true, it's likely as often not true. Yes, if a new player does this, the person won't have any real idea how powers interact, how game mechanics work, etc. But just look at the forum reg dates. Many of us have been playing for years. Some of us played around 34o or more days or nights a year for many of those years. Players who already know what they're doing can absolutely get a character to 50 in a very short time and play well.
Granted, I've never played a Tank, so I wouldn't want to do that with a Tank and then join a team and ask them to count on me to be a good Tank. But I could certainly do it with a Defender, Controller, Scrapper, or quite a few others. The various powersets are just not so different that you can't play a few and know how the others work or have picked up lots of information because you've teamed with the other powers before. (I'm pretty sure I'd have a much harder time figuring out HOW to get some characters to 50 than I would actually playing the character. I don't know jack about PLing and wouldn't know where to start.)
Yeah, it can be bad. But I just don't believe that it's always bad for everyone. Many of the people who PL have done it for years because they're tired of the content or because they want to PvP at a high lever. I don't really care if they fill every slot they have on every server and PL themselves silly. That doesn't mean they're bad players by default.
To be honest, I would say most PvPers can go into a mission on a toon they've never played before and be just as good, if not better than most pve'ers who've played this game for years... They are Gamers, not roleplayers... they make it their job to be as good as they can get. Not to take away from people who play just PvE, I am sure there are plenty out there who still kickass... but I know a lot of "veterans" who aren't that crash hot at actual gameplay
As for everything else said, yes is very possible to do it in 4 hours, I've seen it done in 3 and a half. 2 or 3 in a team, 8spawned mito = lvl 40 in an 1hr to 1.5hrs. And yes it definitely does take longer going 40-50 than 1-40. -
Just wondering if anyone knew if this proc works in PvP at all, and if so whats the actual numbers? Mids only shows what it does for critters.

Quote:this, as much as it sounds kewl, we just don't have the playerbase for pvp to pull it off.
No no and no. It's retarded to split the small PvP population into an even smaller segments. People already have amassed on freedom looking like refugees. -
Quote:we did base raids up until i13 on LIVE servers, I am 100% certain we did about 10 during i12.
So, to summarize, we did not lose RAIDS on the live servers with i13 (they had been long disabled), we lost RAID PATHING (which, honestly, didn't really break too many hearts in these forums). You might consider that we "lost" raids because they were disabled on the training servers, but technically nothing is guaranteed to stay the same over there anyway (their doom was inevitable). -
I like to give it a fireshield to look cool, but really forge is all it needs... unless someone decides to attack your pet instead of you... Odd choice.
-
We did regular base raids on live servers up until i13 also??
I wouldn't be able to find it now, but I am sure I read something in these forums about the devs talking about revamping Raids, and the new PvP system catering for the new raid system. It was the speculation in the PvP base raid section of the forum... until it got removed with the new forum. -
Slot for Defence if its a Defence based toon, otherwise I wouldn't bother getting what you can from sets and that.
-
It was taken down i13, when PvP2 was brought in... The new PvP as I understand it was brought in for the new Raiding system they are "working" on, as the old PvP could not function with it... It's been 3 issues now and no news on the New and improved Base Raiding, I think they forgot
